p l o t .
Eons ago five kingdoms ruled what we have come to know as Pangea. It time was a time of unity between not only the continents but of nature itself. Although humans were severely underdeveloped by our standards today, they had truly found heaven on earth. Life was preserved and as nature thrived so did its inhabits; sacrifices were made by the five kingdoms to the Earth and in return the each kingdom was blessed with a gift. The kingdoms lived in harmony and nature’s gifts were almost forgotten on some parts of Pangea, as the gifts were often seen as unnecessary and energy consuming. Though like all times of peace, it was short lived.
It didn't take much for the civil unrest to begin. As Pangea started to split the kingdoms were severely torn. The once close relationships between the regions were sent into chaos as each kingdom started to hone their skills - something that made the other kingdoms uncomfortable. Natures gifts had started as a blessing but were quickly becoming a curse. Families were torn apart as elementalists were sent to invade other kingdoms. No kingdom could trust any other and the only person on could truly trust was themselves.
Some may ask what had started the cataclysmic changes from the ones peaceful nations; Power was always at the root of the problem. Kingdoms egotistical ways prevented them from seeing the truth. The tension started when elementalists started to emerge.
All subjects had an affinity to their element, some affinities stronger than others. Only certain people had been cursed chosen to be an elementalist, those who had complete control over their element and could even summon it... Although this great power came with a heavy price. The elementalisits usually started to lose their humanity to their element the more they used it and if the person wasn't strong enough, they could die from the rapid energy loss. Being an elementalist was not a blessing as the element controlled you, but one’s destiny couldn’t be changed.
As time progressed, the kingdoms’ fear other nations continued to grow, thus making each kingdom hellbent to diminish the competition. It was the peaceful Water Kingdom who fell first. The kingdom had refused to pick sides as Pangea was starting to split - they had wanted to remain neutral in the conflicts that emerged around them.
It was the heir to the Water Throne that had spoiled the nation’s allegiances. One might compare the male’s tragic death to that of Romeo; He died trying to unite two nations, not with force as many had planned but love. The Water Prince, who had died trying to save his love, only ended up sending the kingdoms farther into chaos. The Air Kingdom did not approve of the Water Kingdom's Heir making allegiances to the Earth Kingdom. It was clear that nature’s gifts were the key component to this never ending war.
All the kingdoms lost many soldiers. Some in pointless boundary battles and others valiantly trying to save their loved ones. When the Water Kingdom was destroyed shortly after the heir’s death, it was no surprise that forming alliances became the difference between life or death. Neutral was no option.
Up in Northern Pangea the Earth Kingdom and the Spirit Kingdom had remained united. On the other side was Fire and Air. It wasn't long before casualties started to decimate kingdoms. Elementalists were the only real tools to complete destruction. It was the Air Elementals who had ultimately destroyed their allies, the Fire Kingdom. Learning how to harness lightning only seemed to make the Earth Kingdom crumble.
It is still a mystery how thew war was stopped. Some say that the ice age had killed the remaining kingdoms, but timelines prove that Pangea was long broken up during the ice age. Others say nature reclaimed their gifts. None the less there is only one thing that is certain - the raging was was never completed. Today, the war is reawakening and nature can only hold onto it's gifts for so long...
Pure elementals are being released into the real world and causing mayhem and some of them are actually starting to form personalities and minds of their own and the citizens of New York City slowly starting to grow affinities to the elements around them. Normal humans are awakening to see their past lives and encountering memories and feelings that they have no recollection of and the kingdoms are awakening from their long rest.
Every kingdom has another chance at victory, but will nature prevail yet again? As it always is in war - it’s life or death. Nature might have released the past war, but it is not afraid to put a stop at it earlier this time. Is history destined to repeat itself? Nothing is the same this time around - alliances are shifting and the ideas and thoughts of elementalists are the key to winning the war. Can modern New York survive as the kingdoms emerge once more? Can the people of New York learn from the mistakes made in their past lives?
