Apart from the pendant that Nemi took and the magnifying glass that the bespectacled youth (ooc: omg, we really need to learn each other's names), there was nothing on the old woman except the clothes on her back. He ran a hand through his hair in mild frustration, a habit he had gained in his youth that he hadn't bothered to change. Christopher shook his head. He couldn't help but feel a need to find out who the woman was. It was as if he knew that if they could only find out who she was, then at least half the puzzle would be put together. It was then when the purple-haired youth suddenly rushed towards the front of the shop, where Nemi had disappeared to. Chris blinked once before he followed in suit. Whatever experience Christopher had prior to this didn't even come close to preparing him for what he saw.
He stood stun and unable to speak as the show played out before him. He was so shocked that he nearly didn't even notice that everything had ended and Nemi was now in a daze. It was only when the purple-haired male voiced his accusation that Chris snapped out of his own stupor. "What are you asking?" he said automatically, stepping in front of the male so that he was between him and Nemi. "She teaches kids music for a living, she could never do anything like murder a old woman."
Then, just before the conversation could turn a stage uglier, the remaining male (ooc: we really need to do introductions xD) said the most peculiar thing. What? Still glowing? Chris turned back to look at Nemi then at her pendant, to which was still black in color. What did this mean? The pendant could see things that normal humans couldn't? Speaking of normal humans... did this mean that Nemi wasn't one? But if that was true and she was... something else, did that also mean that the Nemi that he knew all these years was only a mask? Chris shook his head inwardly. The last thing he needed was to cut of his only ally in this situation.
"Look around the shop.. and maybe the old woman too," Chris said, "maybe you'll find something. I.. I'm going to try something."
Usually, the most complicated questions were answered using the most simplest of answers. Whatever Nemi had gone through, she needed help and Chris decided that this fortune teller's shop with a dead woman wasn't the healthiest place for Nemi to be right now. He looked around. There were several objects that dotted his vision but he zeroed in on a single solidly built chair. Walking over, he pulled it over to the door. "I can't imagine she'll mind much," he muttered to himself. With an almighty heave, he swung the chair around, aiming to crash it through the display window. Unadulterated pain shooting from her head to her toes, threatening to make her lose balance and consciousness. But no, with the help of the table adjacent to her, the dark-haired dame was able to maintain her balance (or whatever was left of it). Her head was throbbing so harshly, not a single coherent thought ran through her head; everything was just a loud ringing buzz. It felt as if someone has bashed her right across the head with a wooden bat, only ten times worse.
A strained groan escaped her lips as she placed her hands on the table, breathing in and out in a ragged nature. What the hell happened to her? All she had done was put on the amulet and then bam! Paranoid and feeling relatively normal one minute, dazed and in a vast amount of pain the very next. Hell! She even forgot her own damn name for a second there from how out of place she felt. It was almost like... her body was foreign to her now. She really couldn’t put it into words or place it correctly for that matter.
It was then she (painfully) noticed the purple-haired man standing a little bit away from her, staring at her in utter shock only to be joined by Chris soon after. She looked at them with wide-eyes that danced in utter confusion as she slowly turned towards them. Why were they gawking at her so intensely for? The purple-maned male stepped forward suddenly, his eyes full of what she seemed to be apprehension.
“Did you kill her? ...The old woman. Did you kill her?”
Upon hearing his question, she looked at him as if he was completely out of his mind. Was he seriously asking her such a question? How the hell would she be capable of doing such a horrid thing when she rarely ever felt ill-will towards anyone? She was at a complete lost for words; not that she could form a logical thought right now anyways. It was then that Chris stepped in with his arguement.
"She teaches kids music for a living, she could never do anything like murder a old woman."
That seemed highly logical to her, or at least somewhat logical. Her head was throbbing too brutally to process anything clearly. But the last male, who seemed to still be towards where the cadaver lay, piped up with something. What was that about the pendant still glowing?
Her indigo orbs traveled to the amulet hanging around her neck, surprised to find it in an obsidian color. What happened to all the colors that emerged from it not too long ago? More importantly, what the hell did the one wearing glasses mean that it was stilling glowing? It looked pretty normal to her as she kept staring at it, ignoring whatever was being said around her.
Things had been okay before she had put the amulet on; she knew for certain that she hadn’t been feeling this horribly until after putting on the cursed trinket. Somewhat hoping that removing the amulet from her neck would relieve the pain, she tried to take it off. But it was no use whatsoever. It wouldn’t budge from hanging around her neck no matter how harshly she tried. What the hell was going on in this place?
Frustrated, she quickly gave up on even trying to remove the amulet. It was then that Nemesis quickly caught Chris grabbing a chair from the corner of her eyes. What is he intending on doing with that? she wondered dully. Almost as if he heard her internal question, he quickly raised up the chair and threw it towards the window. With her eyes wide, she waited in anticipation for whatever came next.
All she knew was that she prayed that they could get out right this very moment before anything else happened.[/style] |

The chair arched through the air clearly with enough force to shattered the flimsy looking front window of the store. It was only when the chair made contact with the window that it was clear escape wasn't as easily as it seemed. As the first chair leg touched the window it quickly disintegrated leaving behind a small trail of ash. It didn't take long for the whole chair to be reduced to a pile of ashes.
It only took a couple moments for things to get worse. There was a loud shattering sound as a light bulb burst from the back of the store. A moment later another light bulb shattered causing bits of glass to spray on the ground. The breaking of glass was becoming louder and louder and more rapid. It was almost instantneous as the four strangers were then left in darkness. The only thing thats cast light were Nemi's eyes and the magnifying glass.
The magnifying glass was still showing the chair burning upon contact with the glass. It only took a moment to replay the scene but now the magnifying glass showed a slight amber hue around most objects in the store. There is no doubt that the magnifying glass is learning to identify some things. In fact almost everything is the store had a dangerous amber hue except for a small crystal ball stocked high on a shelf.
Be careful, anything you touch WILL burn you so RP at your own risk. Please be reasonable though as your characters have to figure this out themselves. POsting order may now resume starting with Nate. Fate will butt in if it is necessary but do not wait for fate to post.

"She teaches children music for a living, she could never do anything like murder an old woman." To Nate, that could mean one of two things. Either she truly was not the murderer and Nate had wrongly accused her or Chris was in cahoots with her. No matter what the situation, by opening his big mouth, Nate realized that he had only dug himself into a deeper hole.
Thankfully for him, Chris was not looking for a confrontation and turned to look around the shop for a way out. Nate watched the young man pick a chair off a ground and fling it a the store window. Why hadn't they thought of that before? Relief washed over him at the prospect of finally getting out of this damned place. That relief was short lived. Nate felt his heart stop as the chair disintegrated into a pile of ashes the moment it touched the window. loud popping sounds erupted from the back of the store as the lightbulbs began shattering one by one. He considered the situation. He was now stuck in the store with a deadly entity, a dead body, and three other people in complete darkness save for Nemi's strange glowing eyes and the magnifying glass. Wonderful.
At the very least, the recent events confirmed one of Nate's theories. Nemi was most likely human. Chris had thrown the chair in an attempt to get out who h meant that he and Nemi were NOT a pair of old lady murderers that had trapped hem in the store on purpose. Nate had wrongly accused someone of murder. But it wasn't his fault, he thought indignantly. She was acting inhuman and clearly something inhuman killed the old lady. But if Nemi was not the murderer than what was?
At the moment, Nate needed allies. There was strength in numbers and if need be could probably sacrifice one of his fellow human. No that was selfish of him. He needed to apologize and not be strategizing how to use people in the worst case scenario. After a deep breath, Nate began.
"Um, I just wanted to apologize to you, Nemi, for accusing you of being a murderer. Because it was obviously something paranormal that killed the woman and after seeing what happened and your glowing eyes I just thought um... Oh, I'm Nate by the way." Nate smiled weakly, his hands currently toying with the straps of his camera. He as nervous and had said that much more quickly than he had wanted to but he hoped that at the very least he got his message across. [/style] |

[style=font-size: 10px; font-family: Arial; color: #656565; padding: 10px; text-align: justify; border-right: 4px solid #dcdcdc; text-transform: none;]One would think that after all that has happened within the last half hour of his life, that nothing could possibly surprise Willis anymore, right? WRONG!
His hand flew to his mouth as he watched, eyes widened with shock, as the chair Chris had thrown disintegrate as it touched the glass. The teen's mind was in a state of chaos as the light bulbs in the store spontaneously erupted, plunging them into a state of darkness. For a while, Willis truly believed that their actions, or more specifically Chris' actions, had incurred the wrath of some supernatural being bent on keeping them in the store. (a/n: which it has. It's name is Fate, a.k.a. Spike XD)Thoroughly unbidden, his mind recalled the scenes of various horror films he had watched. We're not getting out of here.
Just then, a voice spoke up in the dark, and although his panic had prevented the words from actually registering, it did help him in regaining his senses. He was trembling, he noticed. And he realization brought on a wave of self-hatred. Pathetic, he mentally yelled at himself. But as he brought his hand up to strike himself, he caught the glint of the magnifying glass. He stared at it in disbelief. It was playing back the scene of the burning chair!
So, the glass not only showed things that human eyes can't see, it shows memories as well, He mused, momentarily forgetting that he was supposed to be experiencing a mental breakdown. Memories... He repeated in his mind. Wait, didn't that mean that the glass would have recorded the woman's death? If only they could find a way to make it playback the scene of the woman's murder, the mystery would be solved, wouldn't it? The question was HOW?
He shifted his grip on the trinket in his hand, trying to feel for some sort of mechanism. Nothing. Well, maybe if he looked at the lady through the glass again?
Willis held up the magnifying glass and attempted to scan for the woman's corpse. But what he saw in the process caused his mind to lurch. "Um... guys," he began in an unusually sqeaky voice. "I... don't know what this means, but everything in the shop seems to be glowing." He stepped backwards, but a terrible heat caused him to jump forwards with a strangled yelp. The smell of burnt rubber filled the room. By reflex, he'd turned to see at the small vase that his shoe had contacted was also glowing a subtle amber. "Ah~ correction," he stammered. "Don't touch anything!"
At this point, poor Willis' mind was reeling. They were cornered, and now, their movements had become restricted. It was then that yet another revelation hit him: The others probably wouldn't be able to see the the glowing hazards in the store. At least, he couldn't; Not without the magnifying glass, that is. "Wait," he instructed, "don't move. Let me come over to you."
Gingerly, he made his way through the maze of life-threatening antiques to where his companions stood. Fortunately, Nemi's eyes were still glowing, serving like a beacon in the dark for Willis. "Here," he said, handing the glass over to Chris, "see for yourself. The red stuff burns on contact."[/style][style=font-size: 10px; font-family: Arial; color: #656565; padding: 3px; text-align: right; border-right: 4px solid #dcdcdc; margin-bottom: 1px; text-transform: none; line-height: 10px;]TAGGED • Chris, Nemi, Nathan, Fate WORDS • MUSIC • here NOTES • I wasn't sure how I'd be able to spot the lone crystal ball that isn't glowing in the dark so I thought I'd let someone else find it instead. ^^ coded by lovesolfege of ote![/style] |

Then, his knees bent down out of reflex when the lights exploded out above them. Some part of him knew that his eyes should have rolled up in his skull and his legs should have turned entirely to jelly as darkness swims in from all sides but they didn't. He had expected something unusual to happen but this... this went against all forms of wild logic that Chris grew up to accept. Now everything was being thrown out the window. Oh? a small voice asked in his mind. And Nemi's eyes changing colors faster than spotlights at a concert would be logical? Christopher gave himself a mental shake of his head. He really needed to open his mind to all possibilities, to accept the impossible as normal. He couldn't rely on whatever he knew anymore. Think out of the box, Chris, think out of the box.
Just as the gears in his head started whirling again, attempting to formulate another plan, the remaining unnamed male spoke up, sending a warning towards them. Chris blinked again, attempting to make all the irrelevant facts seem to connect in some sort of whacked up sense. Don't touch anything? Everything was glowing in when seen through the magnifying glass? What did it all mean? Connect the dots, Chris. He allowed the dark-haired male to find him before he looked through the glass. Indeed, everything was glowing just like he said. Okay, slow down. What did they know so far?
They were in a fortune teller's shop. There was a dead woman of whom Chris should know but couldn't remember. They couldn't leave the shop by normal means. They couldn't touch anything without exploding into ashes. The magnifying glass that Willis found could see things that their eyes couldn't see.
He had decided to rule out Nemi's glowing eyes and magical pendant as things that they 'knew'. All the facts they knew so far had to contribute to a way out of this horror movie.
It was then when he suddenly noticed it: a spot on the shelve that didn't glow. He thought back, closing his eyes in concentration. When he had walked through the door and scanned around the room... Christopher's eyes shot open. The shelf was full! He couldn't exactly remember what was in that spot but he knew there was something there. But how to get to it in the dark and amidst a maze of flammables? Chris nearly had to smack himself when the obvious occurred to him. They didn't need to know anymore than they already did to get to the non-glowing item. All they had to do was avoid the ones they could see (a.k.a the dangerous ones) and it didn't matter if they hit the ones they couldn't.
He opened his mouth to say something but stopped. "Uh... what's your name again?"
After receiving the name [ooc: do you want me to start calling you Male 4?], Chris nodded [ooc: no, i didn't think so]. "Willis, I'm borrowing this for two seconds." Mustering up all his courage, he pushed aside the logical side of him that questioned the credibility of a 'magical magnifying glass'. They weren't going to get anywhere if nobody did anything and Chris wasn't just going to wait around. He took his first step towards the dark. Then another. And another.
Trusting the alien artifact to be his eyes, he moved closer and closer to the shelf, avoiding the glowing objects. So far, so good. He was an idiot. He was such an idiot. Chris couldn't help but have those two phrases repeated countless times in his head like a broken record. What sane person does what he's doing right now? He shook his head mentally again. He had to get rid of that logical side of him for as long as he was trapped here.
Finally he came to stand in front of the shelf. Releasing a shaky breath, he reached out, praying to god that nothing horribly bad would happen. His fingers soon came into contact with a smooth surface. Christopher tried hard not to wince. He explored more of the object, then it dawned into him.
It was a crystal ball.
Enclosing his fingers around it, he brought it down from the shelf, careful not to touch anything else while he did so. Around the dark shop the crystal ball emitted a soft glow as he made contact with it. The glow wasn't very useful to aid the people in the shop see but the soft outlines of objects started to take shape. The faces of the four people could vaguely be seen by the eerie light. The glow intensified for a couple seconds before going out all of a sudden. It didn't take the magnifying glass to see the amber auras were getting stronger. The heat in the room could be felt as the auras could almost be seen by the normal eye. The smell of something burning could be smelled wafting from the back of the room.
Upon inspection of the back room it is clear that the source of the smoke is the body of the women. She has been moved so her body is pressed against a book shelf, the smoke curling gracefully from between the bookshelf and her back. It is now clear that there is also the smell of burning flesh mixed with the smell of smoke.
Do with this what you will, Fate will post when someone triggers something. Posting order will resume starting with Nemi. |

NOTES Burning flesh smells nasty, yo!
CREDITS template by jawn of AA, OTE, DMB and TC[/style][style=font: 11px Tahoma; text-align: justify;]Perhaps it shouldn’t have come off as a surprise that the very chair that Chris threw at the window immediately turned into ash from the moment it made contact with the glass. And it sure as hell shouldn’t have been a surprise to see that the lightbulbs started to burst a mere second after the chair disintegrated, surrounding the very four of them into inky darkness. But seeing as it was Nemesis and she was still in a relative daze thanks to the splitting headache she was experiencing, she found both events to be unnaturally surprising. And to think that all of this craziness could’ve been avoided if she had just listen to her rational side.
Not being able to see a thing, the dark-haired girl resolved to stand there for a while until her eyes adjusted better to the lack of light. However, she was caught off guard when one of the unknown males apologized to her. How did he know her name? Perhaps it has to do with the fact that Chris talked to you early, ne? her logical side suggested, managing to rear its ugly head through the chaos that was her mind. It made sense, but she wasn’t used to a stranger calling her Nemi; her friends and brother were the only ones who acknowledged her by that name. But that aside, the guy at least introduced himself and apologized to her for accusing her of killing the old woman. Though… what did Nate mean by something paranormal killed the woman? How exactly would he know that anyways?
Pushing any further questions aside to prevent her headache from worsening, she squinted a bit to look at the objects around her now that her eyes somewhat adjusted to the lack of light. She could obviously tell that the small table she had been holding onto to regain her balance was next to her on the left. There was a large shelf filled with various items that she couldn’t make out behind her, but that was about all she could see. Well, other than the soft glowing of the magnifying glass; how was it possible for it to glow anyways? But then again, anything could be possiby after what the hell had happened within the last hour or so of her life.
Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard the other unknown male speaking about things in the shop glowing. Instinctively, she scanned the shop as best she could, spotting no such glowing save for the magnifying glass. Suddenly, there was an odd odor wafting through the air resembling something like burnt rubber. It was soon followed by a warning of sorts from the glasses-donning male to not touch anything, suggesting that touching anything would burn.
Confused indigo eyes (or at least she still thought they were their normal indigo shade) followed the magnifying glass, wondering what the was going on in the dark. She heard the little exchange between Chris and the other male, finding out that his name was Willis. So she knew everyone’s names now… But how the hell was that going to help them out right now? They still needed to get out of the damned place. But then a question began gnawing at her, heightening her headache again. Who, or more like what, was the woman and why was she dead?
The movement of the gleaming magnifying glass caught Nemesis’ attention as it slowly moved towards another part of the darkness. When a crushing wave of dread filled her as she continued to follow with her eyes, she quickly diverted her attention to a thought she had not to long ago. “Nate,” she started, pausing momentarily to try collecting her painful thoughts. Taking a relazing breath, she continued. “What did you mean that something paranormal killed the woman? How would you know that?” Her voice was strained but void of emotion. She wasn’t feeling like herself at all and the more time went on being stuck in this little shop, the less she felt emotionally. What the hell was going on?!
An abrupt shining light made Nemi turn towards the direction of the source, catching a glimpse of Chris holding a crystal ball before being plummeted into darkness again. However, nearly all the strange items in the shop starting radiating an ochre hue while a wretched smell swept through the entire shop. On top of that, the smell of smoke was accompanying it. And from what she could make out, it seemed to be coming from the back of the shop towards where the cadaver laid.
It would’ve been natural for dark-haired femme to be jittery from all her nerves, but she was strangely collected save for the impending sense of danger and paranoia coursing through her body. Her face didn’t show it all though. Staring at all the glowing objects, she very carefully manuveured towards the back in order to make she didn’t accidentally touched any of the surfaces. However, the heat coming off of the objects was unsettling to her. As she got closer to the source of the smoke, she covered her mouth and nose with white shirt to keep herself from inhaling too much of the smoke.
Nemesis’ odd eyes fell upon the cadaver which could be seen due to the low light the shelf the woman was propped up against. “The body’s burning!” she declared loudly, trying to alert the others. Throwing caution to the wind, the light-eyed girl dashed to move the body away from the hot surface of the shelf. Stupidly, she brushed the back of her hand against the hot exterior, burning her hand in the process. A hiss of pain passed through her teeth while she pulled the body away from shelf.
Nice work hurting yourself, idiot, she inwardly insulted herself as she cradled her wounded hand. But at least the body is safe minus a little burning. That being said, her eyes wandered to the corpse, wondering what kind of part this corpse was playing in their entrapment here. But she had a sinking feeling in her gut that whatever part it did play, the preservation of the corpse was necessary right now.[/style] |

There were more pressing matters to attend to at the moment. His eyes were adjusting to the lack of light in his environment but it was his other senses that served him best in these conditions. The adrenaline coursing through his blood stream heightened his senses, allowing him to hear better in the darkness.
He heard a yelp and noticed the glowing magnifying glass still floating in the air. His nose was then assaulted with the unpleasant smell of something burning. A voice Nate judged to be from the man with glasses, warned them not to come into contact with anything in the store. At this point, there was no reason not to trust this person and if the burning smell was any indication, moving would probably only result in further problems.
Through the darkness, Nate could hear Chris asking for the younger man’s name and the magnifying glass. Thanks to the glowing of the magnifying glass, Nate could see the mysterious object being passed from Willis's hand to Chris's hand then being held up to objects situated on a shelf. When the magnifying glass stopped, Nate’s eyes had adjusted enough to be able to make out shadowy outlines of shelves and humans. He watched as someone, presumably Chris since he had the magnifying glass, reach his arm up to grab and object off the shelf.
“Nate, what did you mean that something paranormal killed the woman? How would you know that?” Nate turned in the general direction of the voice. So she had heard him. But how did he know that? There was no logical reason for it but he was sure that whatever had killed the poor woman, it was not human.
It was not necessary for Nate to answer at that time because a light appeared distracting them momentarily. The light was not enough to illuminate the whole room, but enough that Nate could see the faces of the other three people. Had they found a useable light source? Apparently not. The light went out just as quickly as it had appeared. The round object in Chris’s hand was now as useless as a white elephant.
Looking around the room, Nate was not sure whether he should be grateful or terrified. Looking at some of the objects, Nate could have sworn that they were lighter than before. Behind him, he could feel the objects on the shelf getting warmer. Any uncontrolled motion could cause them him to hit one of them resulting in what he was sure to be pain. At the very least he would be able to sense them and avoid them much easier than before. He couldn’t stay there forever if he wanted to get out.
Another smell permeated the air. Sniffing a few times, Nate realized that he smelled smoke and something familiar. Then it hit him. He remembered anticipating this smell every time his clumsy sister attempted to straighten her hair. If she did not end up burning herself, she burned parts of her hair. Had someone burned themselves on an object around the room? No the smoke was coming from the back of the store.
He made his way to the back of the shop, being careful not to touch any of the glowing objects. The smoke caused him to cough and his eyes to water. He pulled the neck of his shirt over his mouth to prevent himself from inhaling more of the smog. The smell here was greater and nearly made him throw up. The cadaver had been moved and was now leaning against a bookshelf. Smoke was rising from between the body and the books.
Nate fought to keep calm. Nate stared as Nemi pulled the old woman away from the bookshelf. Judging from the slight hiss, Nemi had burned herself in the process. Nate had to commend her though. Her quick action had resulted in her not only saving the body but probably all of their lives. Had the cloud of smoke continued to grow, they would have all died of suffocation or carbon monoxide poisoning.
"To answer your previous question," said Nate slowly, as he gasped for breath. "Do you honestly think that something human could have caused all of this? We need to get out of here and fast. I think that we should try shattering that window again. Could I borrow that crystal ball?" [/style] |

[style=font-size: 10px; font-family: Arial; color: #656565; padding: 10px; text-align: justify; border-right: 4px solid #dcdcdc; text-transform: none;]Willis did not hesitate to give his name when Chris requested for it. Right now, they were more pressing matters to be dealt with. Following Chris' attempt to shatter the window, the possibility of their survival through this ordeal was in steady decline. The traumatized teen fell silent as he watched the older boy move towards a nearby shelf and reached for an unseen object. Almost without really meaning to, he noted the conversation beside him. So, the purple-haired man's name was Nate. Which meant that they now knew each others names. Paranormal? Humph, that made sense. Nothing they had experienced since the moment he stepped into the accursed shop seemed 'normal' in any way.
Just then, his eyes caught sight of the glowing orb in Chris' hand. Before he knew it, things had gotten from real bad to even worse. The room became noticeably warmer as the crimson aura that could only be seen through the magnifying glass just moments ago became visible to his naked eye. A pungent odor filled the room, causing him to gag. Just what was that smell?
Willis' heart flew to his throat when he found himself alone once more. "What?!" he yelled hysterically when he heard Nate's suggestion. What the hell was he thinking? Didn't he see what happened the last time they tried that? "Look," he continued in a somewhat calmer tone, "if we want to get out of this alive, we're going to have to figure out what happened here. If any of you had any inkling of who or what killed the woman, and what's causing all this, now is not the time to hold back." Just then, he remembered something. He turned to where the light of magnifying glass still emitting its soft light. "Chris," he called out, "that magnifying glass seems to record stuff that happened and then plays them back. Maybe, if we could figure out how, it'll show us who the killer is."
He shuddered at the thought. Did he really want to find out who the murderer was? The answer was a resounding YES. By now, he had come to the conclusion that whatever killed the woman was still in the shop and that it was more than likely that whatever that thing was, was now after them. What Nate said was right. The thing that killed the woman wasn't human. He was fairly sure that humans couldn't make antiques glow or cause burns.
Not wishing to remain alone any longer, he moved to join Nemi and Nate at the back of the shop. The teen's eyes widened when he saw the corpse of the woman, eyes now open and body still smoldering. Weren't her eyes closed when they found her earlier? And did the body move? By itself? Last he remembered, her body hadn't been in contact with anything else when they left her. Willis' mind was whirling, frantically trying to piece out any information that could help reveal the murderers' identity. He gasped as a horrifying fact dawned on him. So far, whenever something happened, it started from the back of the shop. The old woman's body had moved, even though all four of them were at the front of the shop. In a distant voice, he moaned, "It's here..."
He was trembling slightly again. They had stupidly relocated themselves closer to the source of the danger. "The murderer is somewhere at the back of this store," he muttered in a hoarse whisper. He stared at the old woman. Who the heck was she? Or more importantly, what on earth was she? Who or what would want to kill her? And why?
But wait, could she have killed herself? They knew that something hostile was here with them inside this store. But that wouldn't rule out the possibility of suicide. And what if it was the woman herself who was terrorizing them? Some sort of angry spirit, perhaps. What about out-of-body experiences? Didn't witches and mediums tend to involve in that sort of thing? He shook his head, shocked that he would be pushed to believe in ghosts and ghouls. "You... don't think she could be the one doing all this, do you?" The question left his tongue before he could stop himself. "I mean..." he hesitated, "You don't think she set all this up just to lure the four of us in here, do you?" He looked pleadingly at his companions. All he wanted to know was the identity of the so-called killer. Deep in his gut, he believed that knowing the answer to that puzzle was the key to their escape. It didn't matter how illogical his theories may seem. He would consider any and all possibilities.[/style][style=font-size: 10px; font-family: Arial; color: #656565; padding: 3px; text-align: right; border-right: 4px solid #dcdcdc; margin-bottom: 1px; text-transform: none; line-height: 10px;]TAGGED • Chris, Nemi, Nathan, Fate WORDS • MUSIC • here NOTES • Just throwing around a few ideas. Well, everything that Christopher touched seemed to go up in flames. Right down to the body of an already dead woman. They all smelt it: the punget burning of flesh in the air, but Nemi was the first one to react. Not forgetting the glowing objects and the danger they posed, all of them ran towards the back of the shop where Nemi disappeared to. Chris arrived just in time to see the girl pulling the woman off the bookshelf, officially saving her from burning to ashes.
Chris raised an eyebrow and Nathan's request. "The ball?" he repeated. He handed it out to the male. "I won't lie. I don't think that's such a good idea considering what we've seen so far but you're most welcomed to try something."
"I think both you and Willis are right," Chris said after a moment of consideration. "This couldn't be caused by any normal thing and after everything, we have to consider the worse. So if this thing isn't normal, we can't afford to have any differences at the moment if we ever want to get out of this shop alive."
Christopher turned to Willis. "What I know won't be very significant," the older boy said, "I've seen this woman before. Somewhere. But no matter how much I try to recall, I can't. Maybe if we look around the shop, we might find out. I can't help but feel that if we find out this piece of the puzzle, we'll shed some light on this event." He paused, then added as an afterthought, his expression turning into something that was mixed with fear and worry but overlaid with calmness. NOTES We need more to work with. XD
CREDITS template by jawn of AA, OTE, DMB and TC[/style][style=font: 11px Tahoma; text-align: justify;]Staring at the general direction of her seared flesh, the black-haired female lightly ran her fingers over the skin. It was burning, she had to admit that. But the pain she felt moments ago when she touched the hot surface of the bookshelf was slowly fading, almost as if she growing numb to it. What she found odder than that was her skull-shattering headache barely registered anymore. She could still feel it there, the throbbing of her brain against her skull and the pain. Then there was the fact that she could hardly feel her paranoia or anything like that anymore now that she thought about it; it was almost like she was numbing herself to everything. She knew for a fact that she wasn’t exactly herself anymore, but why?
Her inner musings were cut off by Nate’s voice, making her turn in the male’s direction as she listened to him intently. "To answer your previous question, do you honestly think that something human could have caused all of this? We need to get out of here and fast." Really, the thought had crossed her mind earlier, but now she had to agree that whatever they really were dealing with was something far beyond what they could comprehend. As she thought of this more, she let her eyes fall on the cadaver and tuned out her male companions for the most part; she did catch the bit about the magnifying glass however.
Reviewing everything that had happened in the last few moments, she wondered solemnly if the four of them had angered some sort of God or Deity to end up trapped in such a place. However, as she kept her gaze on the old woman, she was sure that the elderly lady definitely had something to do with this. Completely certain was more like it. The only thing was, how the hell could a dead body do something such as that? And more importantly, what did she use the magnifying glass and the amulet for?
"It's here..."
Nemesis snapped her head to look at Willis’ direction, intrigued by what he was going on about. Where was here exactly? And just what exactly was ‘it’ anyways? As if he heard her muted questions, he quickly spoke up and declared that the murderer was in the back of the store, only to be countered with Chris’ mild complaint. The thought of being so close to the murderer yet not knowing where they were was indeed unsettling, but how were they to find said murderer in the dark anyways? Sure, the items around the shop did emit a strong amber glow, but it wasn’t exactly enough to see clearly.
Letting out some sort of sound that resembled a growl, she placed her hand on the wall close to her. There had been a door somewhere around here before. Perhaps it led to another room or sorts where they could find something useful like a flashlight. Feeling nothing but the wall, she frowned as she quickly rubbed the temples of her head. She wasn’t liking this at all. “Where’s that damned door?” she wondered aloud annoyed, crossing her arms over her chest. Then a thought occurred to her.
She turned to Chris, seeing that he was still holding onto the glowing magnifying glass and walked right up to him. Willis had said earlier that the amulet she was (permanently) wearing around her neck was still glowing and changing colors, and he had also said that it seemed to replay some events. She found it odd that such a little thing could do something like that, but she pushed that thought away. Really, none of them could let themselves get distracted right now. They needed out.
“I know nothing of this woman or anything else really,” she stated stoically as she looked at the magnifying glass in Chris’ hand. She placed a hand over the amulet dangling around her neck, continuing with a slight frown on her face. “What I do know is that this amulet and that magnifying glass are keys to something. To what, I really have no clue. The woman was obviously wearing it and she had the magnifying glass, so these two items have to have some sort of significance to her. However…” she paused, looking at everyone for a brief moment. “I wonder if these two items were not only significant to her, but also to whatever killed her. I mean, whatever killed the old woman must have wanted her dead for a reason and I believe these two items are part of the reason. Hell, I don’t even believe she’s human considering what we’ve all encountered today.”
Letting out a much needed sigh, she brushed a hand through her long ebony locks and bit her lip, wondering what combining the two trinkets would do. “And if the supernatural creature is in this shop, then I feel it must be hiding out in a room somewhere here in the back. But from what I remember, there was a sort of door back here when we first discovered the woman. Perhaps it’s in there.”
Nemesis turned her head towards Willis and Chris, tilting her head to the side as she looked at them with curious eyes. “Could I perhaps take a closer look at the magnifying glass?” she questioned as she lightly touched the glass trinket. Maybe looking around the shop with it would help.[/style] |

"I won't lie. I don't think that's such a good idea considering what we've seen so far but you're most welcomed to try something," Chris warned. It might or might not do anything. But, it was one of the only three objects in the entire store that they were able to touch and it seemed a lot more reasonable than throwing the magnifying glass at a window. Besides, Nate needed to do something before he ended up hysteric, insane, or dead. "Thank you," was all he could say.
Nate turned to the front of the shop squinted through the semi-darkness at the direction of the store window. Am I really going to go through with this? Nate hesitated but made his decision after hearing Chris rationalize that what he had already known since seeing the body. He was right about the murderer being inhuman and there was a possibility that he was right about this. They had practically hit rock bottom in their current situation and things could only get better from here on out. With confidence in his idea, he walked away from the group and to the front of the store.
He got about three fourths of the way when he stopped. All of his previous confidence was completely washed away when a thought popped into his head. The little voice in his head was screaming at him again. What happened to safety in numbers? You are now alone at the front of the store while everyone else is in back. You are going to get yourself killed. Haven't you watched enough horror movies to know that? Nate felt as if he had been punched in the gut. Was he going to die because he had been foolish enough to leave the group? He was like a zebra separated from the herd and in danger of being attacked by some unseen predator.
Nate turned around. Unfortunately, he couldn't hear or see them anymore but he could see the front of the store. He was going to die wasn't he? Nathaniel closed his eyes form fear of what was to come. A moment passed and nothing happened. If that thing wanted to kill me it probably would have done so already, he realized. Feeling foolish and slightly more confident, Nate walked up to the window. If he was going to die here, he wasn't going down without a fight. He took a deep breath then pitched the round object at the window with all the strength he could muster. [/style] |

[style=font-size: 10px; font-family: Arial; color: #656565; padding: 10px; text-align: justify; border-right: 4px solid #dcdcdc; text-transform: none;]Willis looked at each of his companions in turn, feeling at once flustered and helpless. Nate had ignored his protest, which was fine, he supposed. It wasn't as though there was anything much that they could do at the moment. Or was there?
He watched silently as Nate passed. He was out of ideas. And besides, he couldn't imagine how the situation could get any worse. If it did, at least he would not be the one who had caused it. The older male could do as he pleased, he decided. With that matter resolved, he turned his attention to his two remaining companions. Judging by what Chris had said, one could almost believe that the gathering of the four youths in the shop was no coincidence at all. He knew the woman somehow. And Nemi had reacted to the woman's body in a most peculiar way. Besides the light show that they had viewed, the fact that she would risk her own safety to save the woman's burning corpse told him that there was some mysterious connection between the old woman and the dark haired girl as well.
But despite the information, it felt as though they were no where near resolving the mystery of the woman's murder, save for the fact that the entity was probably no more than a few feet away from them. "A door at the back of the store you say? And a connection between the magnifying glass and the necklace?" he asked, although the questioned were rhetorical.
His lips thinned. "You might be right about that, Nemi. But if the killer had wanted these items, why hadn't he removed them from the woman right after he killed her? It's obvious enough that the four of us wouldn't have been a match for him even if we were to catch him red-handed at the crime." Just then, another thought hit him. "Speaking of which, I really don't understand why he would bother putting us through all this," he said. "For this entity to be able to control variables in the environment like this... I mean, wouldn't it be much more convenient for it to kill us right away?"
He thought hard. What did this mean? "Unless..." he started, "it needs something from us; something that it can't do for itself. Like maybe remove those items off the lady for it. But then, it that were the case, why hasn't it confronted us yet? It's going about all this in a very round about manner."
He swallowed hard at the thought as well as what he was about to say. "I've already scanned the room with the glass, but perhaps you'll be able to spot something I've missed. I also think we should try scanning the room at the back with it." But any sane person would think twice before knowingly going to where a murderer was. Still, unless they found out who it was and what was truly going on around them, it wasn't likely that they would escape the store. There was, of course, the fact that Chris had been interrupted during his previous attempt to find an exit. Perhaps said exit really was at the back of the store.
"Honestly, it feels like a trap, Nemi. But I can't think of a better action to take." He jerked his head in Nemi's direction, indicating that Chris should let the female have a go at the magnifying glass. "And if anyone's going to check out the back room, I think we should go together." He stared hard at the old woman, wishing that if he stared hard enough, that the answers revolving around her would simply reveal themselves. "Do you think we should take her with us though? The thing tried to burn her body the last time we left it behind." Well, no matter which decision they took, they were definitely going to have to explore the back room. Tightening his fist, Willis called out to Nate, "Nate, we're going to the room at the back of the store~! Join us as soon as you're done on your end~!"
It was presumptive to think that Chris and Nemi would willingly agree to his suggestion, but it wasn't as though lingering where they were would do them any good. The temperature was rising. Even if they avoided touching the hazards in the room, there was no doubt that only death awaited if they stayed. Whereas, in the back room, there was an opportunity for escape.[/style][style=font-size: 10px; font-family: Arial; color: #656565; padding: 3px; text-align: right; border-right: 4px solid #dcdcdc; margin-bottom: 1px; text-transform: none; line-height: 10px;]TAGGED • Chris, Nemi, Nathan, Fate WORDS • MUSIC • here NOTES • Just throwing around a few ideas. The crystal ball soared effortlessly through the air. As it approached the store front window it looked like it would meet the same fate as the wooden chair. That idea was quickly stricken down as the crystal ball didn't disintegrate as it touched the glass. In fact it shattered into a million pieces like it was suppose to. It looked rather anti climatic as the small pieces of glass that use to make up the crystal ball rained down around the store front window. It wasn't until the cracking of glass could be heard that it was clear something was happening.
The store front window started to crack where the crystal ball had hit it. It took a couple minutes for the cracking to finally stop but when it did stop all that was left was a small rune. It glowed a soft shade of white, clearly not threatening to burn whoever touched it. The rune pulsed with power.
At the back of the store the exact same rune started to slowly engrave itself on a door that was quickly becoming visible to the bare eye. The door seemed to be made of wood, but the rune didn't glow like it did on the store front window. Nemi may or may not recognize the rune as it means dangerous awakening.
Good luck, I know I haven't really given you much to work off of but Fate shall be posting rather soon. Nate may or may not touch the store front rune but that is up to him to decided. No one else my touch that rune either. The door in the back is locked but it is clear there is something behind it as there is a shadow underneath the door. Good luck! Posting order will start with Nate and then continue on from him, probably by a post with fate.
