Sky is has a few clouds, but nothing threatening. ---------- Washing the dishes wasn’t exactly on Cameron’s list during his off-day, but after letting them sit there all week, accumulating a plethora of mold and bacteria, the time had come to get them out of the sink, lest Old Lady Finnegan, his landlady, find something else about him to complain about. Hell, she’d already vanquished him to the busy street below to smoke his nicotine fix, saying she could smell the smoke “leaking through the walls.” It was only a matter of time before she foreclosed on his abode due to the moldy biohazard that was festering in his sink. Dishwashing was among the top three of Cameron’s least favorite chores, the other two being dusting (which hadn’t been done since he moved in about three years ago) and taking his laundry down to the Laundromat; such a hassle. A least he had a dishwasher that could take care of most of the work that had to be done. After hosing down what he could from the plates and bowls, Cameron carelessly stacked them into the dishwasher. It was definitely overfilled, but at least the sink was empty. He soon realized he was out of soup, but turned the nozzle to the ON position anyway and let the hot water do its work. Hot water kills bacteria right? Cameron sauntered his way back to the living room, separated from the kitchen by a short countertop. On his heels followed his newest companion, a three month old mutt of a dog Cameron’s adoptive mother, Patricia, rescued from a box left on their street in uptown. Patricia turned the other puppies over to the rescue mission, but decided to bring one to her son feeling that he needed some sort of friend in his “lonely” apartment. Admittedly, Cameron initially protested the arrangement, arguing that he could neither afford a dog nor find the time to take care of one. However, in the weeks that followed, Cameron grew rather attached to the little fellow. Perhaps he was a little lonely after all. His father still refused to speak to him after he dropped out of school, and his siblings had bigger and better things going on in their lives than to associate with their rouge brother. Only Patricia kept in contact of late, and even that was sparse. Cameron knew her visits cause tension on her end of life. “Well, Rhett, I suppose it’s about that I time I took you outside… don’t need to taking a shit on my carpet,” Cameron said teasingly to the dog, giving his black fur a ruffle with his hand. He moseyed into his bedroom searching for a shirt that didn’t smell like it hadn’t been cleaned in a week, not that it mattered much anyway as he would just be pulling his jacket over it. The weather seemed chillier than normal for September. Cameron usually didn’t need a jacket until October or November. His last mission before stepping outside was to locate his box of Marlboros. Cameron could smoke, Rhett could shit… they’d be two happy bachelors doing their favorite things. Cameron and Rhett made their way down the single flight of stairs and out onto the busy street. The afternoon weather was as chilly as he expected, though he couldn’t quite see his breath yet. Rhett pranced along ahead of Cameron, wagging his tail and panting happily as he enjoyed the fresh air. His master’s apartment could get stuffy in a matter of minutea, especially when he was left alone and the windows were closed. Cameron lit a cigarette and breathed in heavily. He seriously hated being forced to go outside for his nicotine fix; by the time he was able to get a smoke, the craving would have reached a breaking point. Cameron and Rhett’s destination came into view with a few minutes: a small recreational park about a mile from his apartment complex. It wasn’t exactly Central Park, but it was a place for kids to play, seniors to feed the pigeons, New York University kids to study, and dogs to do their business. She let out a frustrated sigh, her eyes transfixed on the closed door across the room. Judging by the intensity of her stare, Audrey appeared to want to burn it down. Clearly getting anxious, she ran a hand through her long hair. She was growing more annoyed with each passing second. But she should have expected as much. In all honestly, she was probably the cause of her annoyance. After all, she should have known better.
Afraid she was going to catch cabin fever or murder her parents - really, which ever came first - Audrey shook her head, stood up and marched up to the door. She should have known better. Five minutes in Blane and Jessica land was not the same as five minutes in the real world. At least not when it came to their daughter. Having known her parents for twenty years Audrey was sad to say that over that period of time, nothing had changed. It was always work, work, work. All the time... even during 'family bonding', which, of course, was what Audrey's little visit was supposed to be.
Inside her head, Audrey counted to three, trying to collect herself emotionally and put out the fire that was raging within her. No matter how many times it happened, it would always annoy Audrey - she was always going to play second fiddle to her parents careers... and she would always resent them for it.
Releasing a breath that Audrey did not realize she had been holding, she turned the brass knob and stormed out of the room, down the mirrored hallway and into the front foyer where a small crystal chandelier hung from the crown moulding trimmed ceiling. She paused for a heartbeat in front of the front door though her hand instinctively grasped its faux golden handle.
"Bye Mom, Dad." She called behind her, her tone about as far from affectionate as a daughter could muster, "See you later."
Not.
Without waiting for a reply - which would undoubtedly be 'Honey, wait just a sec.' - Audrey thrust open the door and continued her little tyrant to her car; a little red VW Beetle which had been a graduation present from her parents to, "Make it easier to visit home from Jersey"
As she put the keys into the ignition and turning the car on, Audrey nearly laughed out loud at the sentiment. 'Bullshit.' She thought to herself as she pulled out of the driveway and sped away from her parent's ritzy uptown residence, their lush front lawn continuing to shrink in the rearview mirror as Audrey tried to put as much distance between herself and her parents as possible.
She drove without thought - she could probably drive the route half asleep and with her eyes closed. Audrey desperately needed to cool off and ease her mind. No one got under her skin like her parents did. Absolutely no one. And there seemed to be only one place she could go to help regain her composure.
A small smile tugged at the corners of her thin lips as Audrey's eyes fell upon the familiar park. It was quaint with a couple benches and a decent amount of green space - space which housed children's soccer games, lovers' stoles and doggy dates quite regularly. It was no Central Park, but that's exactly why Audrey loved it so. It was cozy and felt like home - a feeling she certainly didn't experience during childhood.
She parked across the street and walked rather briskly to a lone oak tree near the north side of the park, noticing several dog walkers and families milling about. Audrey felt a small twinge of jealousy then, just for the briefest moment before her rationality took over. None the less, it had happened.
With a small sigh Audrey wrapped her little black sweater around her tighter as she leaned against the trunk of the mighty oak before gently sliding herself down. Once sitting, she tucked her knees into her chest and rested her elbows upon them, her forehead creasing together in frustration. As much as she tried to move on, Audrey couldn't escape the question that had been haunting her all these years: "Why didn't they care?"
Unable to contain it any longer, Audrey let out a spiteful laugh. She had been louder than she intended but honestly didn't care. Her parents didn't seem to care about anything other than work, so why should Audrey? Though she did cringe slightly as she heard some a few near squirrels scurry away at the sudden harsh outbreak.

The area was equipped with trashcans, small plastic bags, and hand sanitizer. After what seemed to Cameron as a good ten minutes, Rhett finally sniffed out a place that contained that special scent dogs seem to look for when the gotta go. Cameron found it ironic that while he was supposed to be considered Rhett’s “master,” it was he who was cleaning up the presents. Relieved and now impatient, Rhett attempted to pull his master out to the whole of the park. It seemed that the pup enjoyed the park as much as Cameron did. In a couple months, Cameron would be able to release the energetic dog from his leash prison-- have him catch a Frisbee or a tennis ball or something. The park itself didn’t seem as crowded as it normally did, probably having something to do with the abnormally cold weather that’s been blowing across the city. Parents don’t need their kids catching a cold as school had just recently started back. Nonetheless, there were still a couple groups of people lazing about: moms (not many dads) watching their kids play on the jungle-gym or shoving their siblings off the swing set, a couple university students with their noses in a book, and an elderly couple holding hands on one of the far benches. Gag me, please. They walked along the sidewalk that marked the outer perimeter of the park. Cameron lit another cigarette, thankful no one had ever complained about it here. He figured as long as he wasn’t blowing smoke in any of the kids’ faces, their parents shouldn’t really mind a smoking passerby. Rhett trotted happily in front of him, taking time to pause and smell the grass every yard or so, or being thrown off-course by a pair of jogging shoes that he would have gladly chased followed had his master not held the lease so firmly. Cameron was suddenly jerked from his nicotine-type nostalgia by a rather loud laugh to his right. Rhett, who had already begun sniffing the girls foot unnoticed, jumped back and ran behind him. Cameron, his free hand on his chest trying to calm his surprised heartbeat, looked down at the girl. He could barely see her face as it was half-way buried in her knees. He wasn’t sure, but it looked like she may have been on the verge of tears. Of course, with a laugh like that, she may have been on the verge of carrying out some sort of diabolical plan to blow the park up. Cameron wasn’t the only one who noticed either; but after a few seconds, the rest of the park resumed pace. “Christ, girl! You seriously scared the shit outta me,” Cameron told her. “You’re not planning on setting the park on fire or anything are you?” [/style][style=background-color: #414141; color: #000000; padding: 2px; padding-right: 5px; width: 450px; font-family: calibri; font-size: 11px; -moz-border-radius: 0px 0px 10px 10px; border-radius: 0px 0px 10px 10px; text-align: right; letters-spacing: 2px;]I Believe in you; I can show you that I can See right through all your Empty Lies[/style][style=font-family: verdana; font-size: 10px; background-color: #000000; text-align: center; margin-top: 5px; color: #464646]♙notes: You're post was lovely ^^;[/style] credit to gREY of OTE |

The serene park was clearly oblivious - or not accustomed to - such spiteful emotions. Rationally, Audrey knew that hating her parents would get her no where, but the feeling was so natural to her and genuinely hard to shake from her bones.
As she, well, was drowning in these negative thoughts she felt the faintest and softest of brushes against the toes of her feet. She darted her eyes up to see the little dog eagerly sniffing at her feet. At least until that horrendous sound escaped from her mouth.
Her blue eyes followed the pup as he jumped back and ran behind a pair of legs. She stared at the adorable mutt for a heartbeat longer before looking at its owner from head to toe.
He was, well, very attractive in a dark and dangerous sort of way. He was a tall man with an rather intimidating stature - long and muscular limbs and a broad chest and shoulders. His square jaw only added to the strength emanating off him and his facial features seemed hard, a stark contrast to his shining and playful pale eyes and unruly dark hair. This lead Audrey to make the assumption that this hardness he put on was a front - one he had no choice but to put up do to circumstance. She also noticed the cigarette being held between two heavily callused fingers. So he worked with his hands...
She was unable to try and make out his character further for frantic words soon streamed from his thin lips as he not only told her that she had scared the shit out of him but also wondered if she was going to set fire to the park.
So she had been loud.
Outstretching her long legs, Aurdrey tilted her head up and made eye contact with the young man, her own bright blue eyes gazing up into his, "Sorry." She apologized sincerely as she snuck a glance behind him to look at the frightened mutt.
At his question, a small smile replaced her scowl and she let out a faint laugh, "No, not the park. You and your little dog are safe." She assured them.
Feeling like a bit of a knob sitting down and staring up at the young man, Audrey decided to hop back up to her feet. Unconsciously, she brushed leaves and mulch from her legs as she wondered why exactly she had sprung to her feet. Sure, she felt like a moron looking up at her addressor, but it was not like they were having a heated conversation or anything. Shrugging it off, Audrey thought no more on the subject. She wasn't exactly behaving like her usual self today anyway.

They were a pretty sapphire blue much more alive than his own. They would have taken his breath away had it not already been sucked from his lungs with surprise. She stood up quickly, an understandable reaction seeing how Cameron had been towering over her. Not only did she have pretty eyes, but her overall features were stunning. Long white hair that shaped her face nicely stood in sharp contrast to her caramel colored complexion. She had a lean body with long legs that Cameron caught himself surveying. He only half-heard what she said – something about not setting his dog on fire? She wasn’t exactly dressed for a day at the park. She was dressed more to impress, which brought the question to Cameron’s mind: what was she doing here? She was clearly upset and maybe a little hysterical judging by that not so sane laugh. However, after seeing her replace her scowl with a smile, one was liable to forget she was ever angry. Her smile made her already pretty eyes sparkle that much more. “Rhett will be happy to know you’re not going to set him on fire,” Cameron laughed as he replied. As if on Q, Rhett left his hiding space behind Cameron’s legs and occupied himself sniffing about the girl, pulling Cameron’s hand away from his chest as he pulled on the leash. Satisfied, he sat down, content with wagging his tail, panting, and looking up at his new friend. “So if not the park, then a school maybe? That was one creepy laugh. Everything okay?” Even as the words left his lips, he almost wished he hadn’t. As if she’d confide her daily issue with a total stranger. He wouldn’t have been surprised if she told him to mind his own business. Cameron suddenly remembered the half-smoked cigarette smoldering in his other hand. He quickly dropped it, and snuffed it out with the toe of his shoe. He was certain this well-kept girl wouldn’t want smoke billowing in her face or giving her outfit a stale nicotine odor. Of course, his whole body probably smelled that way. He wondered briefly if she was totally repulsed by him. He shook the thought from his head; Since when was he so self-conscious? His pale blue gaze seemed to take in her every feature and she suddenly felt slightly embarrassed... but since when had she ever been embarrassed by someone looking at her.
Maybe because he looks like he's interested? She thought to herself, making assumptions about what she was seeing in the handsome young man's gaze. It had been so long since she had really been looked at, she was slightly flustered, but managed to hide it well.
He pulled her back to reality when he spoke, laughter laced in his voice. Audrey found it to be a deep, soothing sound and she found her nerves settling as he told her his little pup, whose name was Rhett, would be happy not being set on fire.
As if on cue, Rhett came out from behind his master again and began sniffing at Audrey's ankles. Seeming content with her, the dog sat down and looked up smiling, if dogs could smile, that is.
Speaking of smiles, the stranger appeared to have a faint one on his thin lips as he continued to ask her which objects she intended to light up before asking her the simple, little question that took her breath away.
"Everything okay?"
It took Audrey a moment to process the question. Tall, dark, handsome and caring? Since when did Audrey run into such perfect strangers?
Audrey laughed - a genuine, sincere laugh - and the happy sound echoed slightly alien to her ears. Her own laughter was something almost alien to her ears, "Nope, not the school. Just my parent's house." She said with a smile then immediately slapped herself mentally. He had just commented on her creepy laugh... she probably sounded like a looney.
Her eyes were drawn downward as she noticed the man flick his cigarette to the floor and snuffed it out with his shoe. There was something about that simple motion that Audrey found, well, sexy... it reminded her of the black and white film Costablanca and she couldn't help but smirk.
"I'm Audrey." She introduced herself - an exceptionally bold move for her - as her eyes darted back to his pale blue green ones. Though everything - from his dark unruly hair to broad-shouldered frame - screamed 'rebel', his eyes sparkled with playfulness, almost betraying his hot bad-boy look... his eyes, and cute, little Rhett.

His job over on east end was usually in short supply of women, especially those esthetically pleasing; and his apartment complex was made up of older widows and single-mom households – not exactly his type. Most of the women his age were either rooming on the nearby college campus or living with their parents in some other part of the city. Unless Cameron found himself at a party or a club or some brave woman decided to take herself the mechanic’s shop on east end, his contact with the opposite sex with extremely limited, which made this day at the park a rare treat indeed. Not only was the lady before him lovely to look at, but she carried about her a sort of charming appeal that only peaked Cameron’s interest more, not to mention that nothing made his heart bleed more than a woman angry with the world. She laughed at his inquiry, a pretty sound that reverberated through the air around them. It didn’t sound near as malicious as it had earlier. It sounded vigorous… energetic; Cameron’s body stiffened as it prepared to be rejected. He was sure she was about to say something along the lines as it was none of his business. He was therefore surprised when she revealed her target of interest, her parents’ house. Cameron couldn’t help but chuckle himself; he knew all too well how parents could be. He was almost relieved it was her parents that caused her such grief, as he had begun to think that maybe she was fretting over a fight with some boyfriend. Cameron half-expected to see some six-foot, steroid-addict ready to kick his ass – not that he would go down so easy; Cameron kept himself in good shape. He wondered briefly what her parents could have done to upset her so, but he wasn’t sure if it was his place to ask. He’d already tested that boundary, and didn’t want to press it any more. Before he could decide whether or not to pursue the matter, the woman changed the subject herself, to introductions of all things. Cameron almost slapped himself in the forehead. He had introduced his dog, but didn’t even think to tell the girl his own name. Cameron noticed Rhett looking up at him as if to say Moron, here I am working all my cuteness and you forget something as simple as telling the female who you are…?“I’m Cameron,” he replied quickly, “and I guess you figured out this is Rhett,” he nodded towards the ground. Upon hearing his name, Rhett stood up off his haunches wagging his tail with excitement. “If you like, we can go sit down, though I much prefer a park bench to the ground,” he said teasingly. Oh, and the company must have helped, too. It was truly amazing how comfortable she was around him, her usual cool exterior completely melted away and the walls around her fallen. Maybe being livid and seething was the best way to meet people? ... on second thought, maybe not.
Her small, timid smile transformed into a grin when he chuckled - a deep, sincere sound - at the comment about her parents. Relief washed through her; she was glad that he didn't think her to be, well, insane and/or homicidal. Then it hit her like a ton of bricks. Duh. Nobody gets along with their family all the time.
Audrey could hardly belief herself. For someone so bright and logical, she wasn't exactly thinking straight; she was actually acting on impulse. Sort of. It was a strange feeling, a new feeling, but one that was not unpleasant. She enjoyed just being here, with her mystery man, talking about whatever tickled their fancy and without having to think before she spoke.
But he wasn't her mystery man for much longer. He introduced himself quickly, almost as if he was embarrassed and Audrey stifled a giggle.
A giggle? She thought to herself amused, How old am I? Twelve?
So his name was Cameron.
A handsome name for a handsome man Audrey mused, her sapphire orbs twinkling with excitement.
He introduced his little dog as Rhett, though she already knew that. This was honestly the first time that Audrey had even met a man who introduced his canine before himself - or really spoke to her about anything before jumping in and asking for her name and number. Cameron actually seemed like a decent human being and it had been a long time since she had met one of those.
As Rhett stood up, his tail wagging in excitement and eyes wide and bright, Cameron invited her to take a seat - making a point to tease her about how he had found her sitting in the dirt. Well, he didn't say it quite like that but Audrey understood the implication.
Grinning, she shook her head and rolled her eyes, "I definitely didn't pin you as the high-maintanace type." She teased back, her voice light and almost mocking, "Are you afraid of a little dirt?"
Though she teased, she definitely accepted the invitation to sit a park bench and took a couple strides away from the canopy of shade that the oak tree created. Standing next to Cameron, she looked up and him and grinned before turning on her heel and leading the way to their destination.

Transformed from the homicidal lady tucked under a tree in the park, to a flirtatious beauty stifling school-girl giggles, Audrey turned away from him to take up his invitation to resume their conversation in a more comfortable spot. The teasing remark she shot back over her shoulder was most certainly a laugh; the only time Cameron wasn’t covered in dirt, oil, or some other grim were his two off-days during the week. The rest of the time he spent either on his back underneath the floor of someone’s vehicle, or buried in their engine under the hood. The only reason his hands seemed clean today was because he had them under soap and water as he relieved his sink of the pile of moldy dishes not an hour ago. He laughed doubtfully, but let the comment slide as he followed her to the nearby bench. Rhett, who had already begun to follow Audrey as she left, led the way for Cameron. He found her comment about his potential dirt-phobia even more comical at that moment. Little did Audrey know what he feared now was Audrey herself. She was clearly an uptown girl judging from her attire and her generally well-kept appearance. Hell, it wouldn’t have surprised him if her parents knew his parents, as wealthy folks tend to keep track of one another via gossip circles and the like. The last thing he wanted Audrey to know if that he was the famed rebellious youth of the Foster’s who threw away everything his adoptive parents tried to give him. Cameron had heard some of their remarks: how he didn’t seem to grow up like his siblings, how he was just another troubled adopted kid that couldn’t be helped, or how he and his gang caused problems in their little rich neighborhood. Cameron had long since grown out of his vandalism phase and doing stupid shit just to spite his parents. He’d grown up, if only just a little bit; not that he became your typical heart-of-gold superhero now. The mechanic shop in east end deals not only in an honest day’s work, but also in the underground markets as well – a chop shop in disguise. Cameron shook off his troubled thoughts as he approached the bench, taking the open spot on Audrey’s right. The bench was long enough to give them a little room in between one another, but they were obviously in closer proximity than they had been under the tree; a result not exactly of Cameron’s intent, but a pleasant outcome nonetheless. He turned to face her, taking in the faint scent of perfume that he hadn’t noticed before. His left arm draped over the back of the bench while his right still held Rhett’s leash. As his eyes met hers, Cameron could still feel the grin on his face leftover from her teasing comment. He was truly amazed she hadn’t turned him down either on his offer to join him on the bench or when he initiated their encounter. She seemed comfortable enough with him, neither looking down her nose at him nor being intimidated by him. It was a pleasant change from his usual meetings. Realizing he didn’t invite her to sit down just so he could stare at her (though he was sure he could do that for hours), Cameron knew he had to start a conversation somewhere. He wasn’t about to ruin this moment talking about the damn weather, and he didn’t want to bring up her parents lest he upset her again. Rhett, seeing his master at a loss for words, reared up on his hind legs, placed his two front paws in the middle of the bench, and barked (if you call a small puppy squeak a real bark). Rhett was barely able to reach the bench, slipping once before stabilizing himself. Cameron laughed at the dog’s forwardness and explained, “He’s jealous he’s being ignored. He’s the only one around at my place; he’s so used to being the center of attention.” Great… I’ve settled on talking about my dog….. sheesh. Cameron could have slapped himself. She remembered being a little girl sitting on the couch with her parents whenever they had company over and always being in awe the women in the room. They seemed like the epitome of beauty and grace with their legs elegantly crossed and charm that drew the room's attention in the most discrete way. Little Audrey was jealous - she wanted to grow up and be like these women, crossing her legs and making beauty appear effortless. At the tender age of about five, all Audrey wanted to do was grow up and be like her momma. Here and now, sitting on a park bench, Audrey almost wanted to laugh out loud at the thought.
Sitting down now as she had always longed, Audrey realized that this look had lost its appeal. Her sapphire eyes glanced fondly over Cameron who had taken a seat just to her right. With his legs stretched out before him and his left arm draped around over the back of the bench, he seemed completely at ease with himself and his surroundings. It was at this moment she realized their almost intimate proximity - even if he just outstretched his fingers, he would brush up against he shoulder.
A funny feeling rose up in the pit of Audrey's stomach at this thought. After all of these years of trying to distance herself from affection and contact, she was suddenly craving another human's touch? Impossible. She was Audrey Wright, calm and independent. Since when did she become so giddy and nervous? She had received her first kiss at the awkward age of twelve while playing 'spin-the-bottle' at a house party. A girl's first kiss. That was supposed to be a sacred and treasured moment, and Audrey faced it head on. In fact, Audrey wasn't even nervous. She casually strode across the room and pressed her lips ever-so-gently against Adam McGuire's. The entire affair was casual and ordinary, much unlike the butterflies that where flying out of formation in Audrey's stomach.
She was sitting on a bench next to a man - albeit, a very attractive one - who had just snubbed out his cigarette and was walking his dog, what the hell was there to be nervous about? (Though the intense way that he seemed to be taking her in did unnerve her slightly.) Every part of Audrey's brain screamed out against the irrational feelings, but she couldn't help it. Especially with today's little episode (or not) with her parents, she wanted a hug. A hug.... Audrey hadn't wanted one of those in nearly four years.
They sat in comfortable silence for a few seconds before Cameron spoke up, again about his little pet pooch. A tender smile crossed Audrey's face as she saw Rhett rear up on his front paws and make the most adorable squeak, which she assumed to be a bark. Okay, Audrey's heart had to melt a bit at the side. With dark, ruffled hair much like his master, Rhett looked up to the couple with large, pleading brown eyes as he struggled to place his front legs on the bench between them.
Still soft from staring into the pup's big, chocolate brown eyes she couldn't help but feel sorry for the little guy for stealing all his attention. She chuckled slightly as Cameron explained. Apparently the Rhett was an only child, too.
"I'm envious of the attention." Audrey admitted more to herself then to Cameron as she leaning forward and outstretched her right hand for the pup to sniff. She would have been kind of upset, too, if some random stranger came and stole his attentions from her. He was dashing - physically captivating and witty. Anyone - puppy, woman or otherwise - would be lucky to be the center of his attention.
Audrey caught herself, then. Had she just thought that? She mentally scolded herself and inwardly shook her head. Really, Adurey? Really? She was beginning to frighten herself - she was sounding like some trashy romance reading cat lady.
A small, barely audible and slightly confused sigh escaped Audrey's lips, though her smile never faltered off her face. Still leaning forward and offering Rhett her hand, she looked up at Cameron for comfort. Gazing up at him then, her nerves seemed to numb, slightly and she untangled herself from the lady-like pose. Uncrossing her knees and releasing control of her lower body, she let her legs flop to the floor and her black satin pump covered feet 'thump' slightly against the grass. In their short period together, he had seen Audrey more vulnerable then anyone the young woman could remember, so there really was no need for the pretense. The calm, cool and collected Audrey Wright had never been involved in the young couple's interactions, there really was no need to bring her in, now.

In Cameron’s eyes, everything about Audrey’s body language personified grace and poise; it did nothing less than take his breath away. A small breezed crept its way around the park, teasing Audrey’s long, white tresses just enough to enunciate what Cameron could already see: she was gorgeous, whether or not she realized it. Even the way she held her chin or the way she placed her hands on her lap, both actions probably unnoticed by her, embodied sexuality and beauty. He was captivated. Even as he fretted about what she would think of him should she realize how much of a nobody he really amounted to, he couldn’t help but be amazed at the loveliness that seemed to radiate from her being. He watched as she crossed her legs, catching himself before instinctively reaching out to touch them. At the back of his mind, Cameron found himself wishing the weather was much warmer as Audrey would probably be dressed in something that would show off her legs. He knew her skin would be soft…. Cameron had to forcefully halt his thought process. After all, he was not treading unfamiliar territory at the moment. He knew just where such moments and thoughts could take him; however, he and Audrey were not a couple of strangers dancing around a club in a drunken stupor looking to get laid. They were two people looking to lose themselves in a quiet afternoon at the park and just happened to cross each others’ paths. Cameron could not and had no intentions of treating her like his next one-night stand. Rhett’s abruptness pulled Cameron from his thoughts. He watched a smiling Audrey reach for the little dog, allowing him to press his cold nose against her fingers. A twinge of jealousy echoed at the back of Cameron’s mind, and he almost laughed outright. He certainly wouldn’t have minded being allowed to kiss her fingers… “I’m envious of the attention” she said in a half-whisper. Cameron was left a little confused at her statement. It sounded almost as if she didn’t receive even half the amount of attention Rhett did, and that was almost impossible to fathom. A woman like Audrey could not possibly walk into a room without attracting the attention of not only every heterosexual man in the room, but every lesbian and jealous woman as well. Of course, Cameron realized, he hardly knew her – only her name and tidbits of her personality by the way she carried herself. But it was hard to imagine that she could be anything but the confident and capable woman he assumed she was. He therefore almost asked her what she meant – surely, he had misunderstood – but before he could get the question out, Audrey looked back up at him. In her eyes, a different emotion had replaced the energy and confidence he’d seen reflected in them earlier, though Cameron was at a loss for what that emotion could be. There was no time to ponder this new puzzle, as Audrey’s entire self-assured demeanor as well as her body seemed to crumble suddenly. A sigh, or perhaps a sob, escaped her lips. “Audrey?” he said, surprised. Cameron’s arm, at one a point a mere few inches away from her shoulder, quickly closed the gap between them. His other hand, still bound by Rhett’s leash at the wrist, instinctively covered Audrey’s in her lap. He hadn’t intended to pull her to into his arms, but by the time his hand made contact with her body, there was no stopping the rest of sequence. Cameron was shocked to find himself wanting nothing more than to repair whatever damage his words or actions had just caused. He held her briefly, prepared to release her should she pull back abruptly. After all, they were naught but strangers an hour ago. Only a few seconds earlier had she been fantasizing about his touch and how wonderful and safe it would feel be be embraced in his strong arms. And now, as the two strangers sat next to one another, both seemed to get what they were either consciously or subconsciously craving.
It had started innocently enough, a chance encounter in a city park. And now the two sat more closely then either were honestly aware of, both seeming to lean in towards the other. The rest of the world began to fade into the background as Audrey lost herself staring up into Cameron's gaze. She saw understanding and compassion and respect reflected in his grey orbs and Audrey instantly knew that he understood. He had stuck by her side so far and didn't appear to be going leaving any time soon. Even little Rhett who had been eagerly sniffy and licking Audrey's open palm only seconds ago seemed to understand. He hobbled back slightly from the bench, having four paws on the ground and rather timidly walked back to sit by Cameron's legs.
No sooner had the sigh escaped her lips and her body visibly slouch had she heard his voice calling her name. Concern and surprise were intricately laced in those simple two syllables that sent shivers down Audrey's spine. Never before had anyone had such an effect on her and here they were, nothing but two strangers sitting on a park bench, but Audrey couldn't help but feel something more. Like a concerned lover he seemed to call out to her, his voice expressing his every thought; he cared, he wanted to fix her... he wanted to know her.
It is amazing what could be conveyed in saying a person's name.
Audrey felt like strangers no longer. Despite having been together for only an hour, there were some things in life you would have to be stupid to ignore; like when to people clicked so effortlessly. Had the Lady met the Tramp on any other occasion under any other circumstance would their chemistry been any different? - the two would never know. Breed as an uptown girl, Audrey never imagined being cozy with someone who looked like they'd previously been part of a gang, yet here she was. And right here, right now and for whatever reason, all she wanted was him. It didn't matter what he parents would think, it didn't matter how she was raised, all that matter was what Audrey wanted.
The cool breeze that swept and teased her hair also ruffled Cameron's, making his already unruly hair that much more out-of-control, giving him a sexy 'I-just-rolled-out-of-bed' sort of look. The early autumn air also carried with it his scent and Audrey inhaled gladly, taking in his smell for the first time. A comforting and delicious mix of old cigarette smoke, Irish Spring and the smallest hint of sweat filled Audrey's nostrils. It was a warm and comforting smell to Audrey and definitely suited the man.
Just as the breeze died down, Cameron closed the gap between them then and her abdominal muscles tightened suddenly upon contact. She welcomed his touch, her tense muscles but a combination of reflex and nerves; reflex caused by the contact which she was so unfamiliar with and nerves do to the person who was initiating said contact.
Audrey's mind was in a tizzy, unsure of how to react when Cameron's other hand almost instantly covered her own which where simply placed on her lap. Her own hands seemed so dainty and delicate when being held by his callused, large one. Cameron's skin felt rough against her own, making her feeling extremely feminine and vulnerable. With one arm wrapped protectively around her shoulders and the other holding her hands, Cameron pulled her in towards him in a sort-of half hug. Half of Audrey's back pressed into Cameron's hard chest, feeling his toned and well-definied upper body as her head was still turned, allowing them to be facing one another.
She indulged in the feeling of having his arms around her, pressing her body into his. She noticed for the first time that Cameron's body seemed about as tight as hers, almost as if was hesitating to move a single muscle. Wanting to put both their minds at ease, she shuffled slightly and turned her entire body to face him, balancing on one hip temporarily as she did so.
Making sure that the arm that was wrapped over her shoulders wouldn't budge, Audrey snaked her hands out from under Cameron's, and were not going to return there as she carefully began to wrap both arms around his torso. Afraid to look up and meet his intense gaze, Audrey focused her blue orbs on his chest, where she began to lean in.
Tilting her head to the side so she could press up against him as close as she could, Audrey closed her eyes and again inhaled his delightful scent, the smell of smoke seeming engrained in the fabric of his dark sweater. With arms wrapped around him tightly and desperately, Audrey didn't utter a single word as she lost herself in the moment and Cameron's tender embrace, her face buried in his chest.

Again, he found himself at a loss as to what emotion played behind her sapphire orbs. She didn’t seem upset or angry however, and that was all the assurance he needed. Still, he kept his hold slight, waiting for the moment she decided they were too close for comfort. Unexpectedly, Audrey accepted his comfort leaving Cameron both pleasantly surprised and a little nervous as she drew closer to him. He felt her hands leave his in her lap as they went to gently encircle his body. Her head came to rest on his chest, and he was sure she could feel his heart beating rapidly – what he wouldn’t give to know how to slow his heartbeat at will. Shrugging off his silly insecurities, Cameron hesitated no longer. He first removed Rhett’s leash from his once-again free hand and tied it around the armrest of the bench (the best he could with one hand). Free of Rhett’s restraint, Cameron’s right hand encircled Audrey’s waist, coming to rest on the small of her back. The fingers of his left hand interlaced themselves in Audrey’s long white hair. The scent of her shampoo met his nose as he looked down at her. Her eyes avoided his as she made herself more comfortable. Cameron felt a little less foolish to know she seemed just as nervous as he felt. Nerves were certainly a foreign feeling in Cameron’s world, and he fought them, too stubborn to admit to himself that he was even the slightest bit tense. He wasn’t sure just how much time they spent holding on to each other, but he wasn’t concerned. He closed his eyes, thinking of nothing else but Audrey’s body next to his – how her curves seemed to fit nicely with the contours of his body, how her breathing seemed to sync with his, how pretty her hair looked draped around her face… how completely at ease she seemed with him. It wasn’t often he found a woman who didn’t initially avoid him. It usually took a couple drinks to bring their minds (and their bodies) at ease. Audrey seemed different, but it may have been because she was upset and defenseless against such masculine comfort. Cameron should have felt guilty taking advantage of such vulnerabilities. However, he was thinking of nothing else except how nice it felt to wrap her in his arms, shielding her from whatever pain that threatened to engulf her. He opened his eyes looked back down at her, his breathing becoming more and more tense as he fought back unfamiliar emotions. Cameron couldn’t understand how one person, one woman, could make him feel both confused and content at the same time. It was madness, and yet, it seemed like the most natural thing. He almost felt as if Audrey had always been a part of his life; perhaps they had known each other in another life time, or perhaps fate had a strange way of leading you towards people that you were meant to connect with. It was a strange thought, something someone like Cameron, a disbeliever in god and anything that came with it (destiny, fate or otherwise) shouldn’t be thinking. Whatever the reason, whatever strange guidance led him and Audrey to this very same park on the very same day, he knew it was more than just a mere coincidence. It was something more… something hard, no, impossible to ignore. His right hand left her back as he trailed his fingers up her side and over her shoulder. He tucked her fallen tendrils behind her ear, then traced his fingers under her jaw and chin, lifting her head up so he could see her face. Her expression was hard to read, and his own was probably just as disguised. He couldn’t pinpoint what he was feeling, and therefore couldn’t find the right way to express it on his face. He wanted to speak, but anything he might have wanted to say was stuck in his throat. His eyes fell to her lips… of all the women he’d every kissed, Audrey had the most beautiful lips. He leaned in towards her, wishing for nothing more than to press his lips against hers. His hand pressed firmly against the small of her back and she took in a sharp breath. Having him holder her in such a tender manner and having his large hand resting on such an intimate place caused Audrey's heart to beat spastically.
His hand which tightly encircled her shoulders moved north as he reached up and interlaced his long fingers in her thick hair. Though her heart continued to hammer within her chest, all other forms of nervousness seemed to leave her body as Cameron began to stroke her hair. Her muscles loosened and if Audrey was able to purr, she would have. With her head pressed against his chest, she heard Cameron's heart racing as he continued to hold and comfort her. Words failed to describe not only how thankful she was or how much she owed him, but how he had made her truly content; their bodies seemed to fit together perfectly, like to puzzle pieces, and the way his touch made her feel should have been illegal.
With fingers woven in her thick locks and arms wrapped around her body, all thoughts not related to Cameron evaporated from her mind. All Audrey could focus on was him: his slow, rhythmic breathing seemed to be in time with hers and how his rapidly beating heart betrayed this serenity, and he made goosebumps appears all over her body.
Audrey was sure she wouldn't have been able to form a coherent sentence even if she wanted to.
All of a sudden she felt Cameron's hand leave her lower back. She was about to let out a startled gasp at the undesired movement but she felt his hand slowly moving and trailing up her back.
His fingers gently caressed up her back and she could have sworn his touch burned through the fabric of her thin sweater. His fingers left behind the most pleasant tingling sensation and the farther up his hand travelled, the faster her head began to beat.
As Cameron carefully and thoughtfully tucked a stray strand of white hair behind her ear, Audrey was almost positive that her face held an expression of desire and completely longing to remain by Cameron's side. Eyes were windows to the soul and Audrey prayed that hers did not hold any trace of desperation or need within them.
Cameron's fingers lingered behind her ear once he had secured the strand in place, then slowly and deliberately travelled down her jaw. Her heart immediately jumped to her throat as he traced the side of her face and his fingerers caressed her skin. Every part of Audrey's body felt like it was on fire and she wanted more. Every part of her screamed for Cameron's - his touch, his gaze, his voice. The feeling was so overwhelming that Audrey had to consciously remind herself to breathe.
Upon reaching her chin, Cameron's fingers gently tilted her head up, and Audrey did not fight it.
Now face-to-face, Audrey was certain that she had stopped breathing. With one hand cupping her face and the other still wrapped protectively around her slim frame she felt as if she would melt on the spot if hadn't been holding her in place. Her blue eyes - now large and doe-like - fazed deeply into his. A disguised look crossed Cameron's striking feature, making his expression unreadable. None the less, his eyes were bright and Audrey was completely and utterly drawn to him. Staring up at his handsome face and messy hair, Audrey could only imagine what it would be like to roll over first thing in the morning and looking into those passionate stormy eyes.
Completely mesmerized and lost in his gaze, Audrey began to lean forward, His eyes left hers for only a heartbeat and stared at her lips. With both Cameron and Audrey leaning toward one another, what little space between them quickly disappeared. Uncertainty and nervousness filled the air but none-the-less Audrey continued to close the distance.
Audrey was soon able to feel his warm, shaky breath on her face, tickling and teasing all of her senses. Her mind was completely focused on him and her body was acting on her desire.
Sucking in her own breath and body tensing once again, Audrey closed the gap.
Her eyelids fluttered closed as Audrey timidly touched her lips against his. Unlike his hands, Cameron's lips were incredibly soft and kissable. Audrey's arms immediately left Cameron's waist and now wrapped around his shoulders. Her fingers intertwined themselves in his hair, much like Cameron had done with her a few moments ago. With her hands full of his hair, she pulled herself closer to him and pressed her lips more tightly against his. tagged :: Cameron notes :: My hero <3 PS - I'm so so sooo sorry for not posting earlier - I crashed as soon as I got home after work xD credits :: by pademelon of on the edge![/style]

He couldn’t read her eyes, too caught up in the moment to think of anything but how beautiful they looked inches from his. But even as Cameron hesitated, Audrey did not, and she closed what little gap remained between them. He closed his eyes as their lips met. Her lips were warm and moist, even more inviting than they looked initially. He suckled her bottom lip as her hands found their way around his shoulders and entangled within his hair. He was loving the sensation of her arms around him, enticing him ever closer to her. Cameron’s hand around Audrey’s face traced its way back around her neck while his other hand trailed itself down her spine; both arms pressing her against his chest. A strange feeling of desire filled his being, like a fire being meticulously stoked. His longing wasn’t sexual; it was something much more complicated, a foreign emotion that he couldn’t fathom. As Cameron held her and tasted her sweet lips upon his, he knew he’d never felt more satisfied, never felt more content... complete. Again, that sensation that he’d known Audrey all his life encircled his mind, and suddenly, he knew he would always want her to be a part of his life. Cameron wanted nothing more than to hold on to her and kiss her lips endlessly, but he knew he couldn’t pin her down forever. He savored the last few seconds of her sweet tasting lips before pulling away from her. He didn’t release his hold, however, wanting needing to hold her that much longer. He gazed at her still-closed eyes, admiring the way her cheeks were flushed and how her hair seemed to fall in a beautiful state of disarray. He could still feel her heart beating against his chest. He almost kissed her again as his eyes caught sight of her slightly parted mouth, but he held himself in check, wanting to give her time to come to her senses and decide she’d had enough. When Audrey opened her eyes, Cameron’s right hand came back around from her neck to stroke her cheek lightly. “Audrey, I—” his voice came out in a horse whisper. What did he want to say, that he was sorry? That wasn’t exactly true. He was sorry for the speed at which he made a move on her, but not for the move itself. Suddenly, he felt himself smile, then chuckle. “I’m sorry… I can’t seem to let you go,” he laughed. He felt so foolish, yet so happy and relieved she hadn’t yet pushed him away. His hand left her cheek, crossing his chest and reaching for Audrey’s right hand behind his head. He pulled it towards his face, kissing her fingers lightly. A breath of wind came to relieve them both of their heated exchange. Cameron was in a state of euphoria, on the precipice of madness. How was it possible for him to be so drawn to this woman? How was it possible for her to seem so drawn to him? Such thoughts danced though Cameron’s mind, and he shoved them aside one by one. He was too happy to care as he gazed at Audrey’s beauty. It seemed to radiate from within her inner being, not only from her figure, her face, or her eyes. Cameron found himself wishing to know more about her, to learn her strengths and weaknesses, her loves, her hates, her passions, her dreams… wondering if there was a place in her future for someone like him.
