The method was always the same, a strange order, most of the time it was something like a mint chocolate chip cappuccino with a hint of lemon and a pinch of caramel. Then there would be a moment of payment, a slip of a envelope and a quick thank you. Today seemed to be no different. While working at the coffee shop she had received one of those odd orders, was given her envelope and then she had to make a quick but simple exit. Lukas was right about having one extra person working the shop at all times, it really made things easier when one of both had to make a quick getaway. Today was no different, the shop was having a slow morning so the two girls left would be fine, they were smart and knew how to handle the place well. Which was great for Rayna since Lukas wasn't the best help around the shop, sure it was a cover job but it was still a job. After all the workers themselves haven't a clue what Rayna and Lukas did that had them running off from work at the strangest of times. Though whenever the two left together that was when the rumors would fly. Somehow half of the shop were convinced that the two were secret lovers who were really bad at keeping their hands off each other, yea right. Rayna believed herself way too smart to ever fall for Lukas's advances even though she knew he did them just to get on her nerves.
[classy=rapid]Upstairs Rayna made haste in grabbing her phone and texting Lukas, of course she never texted information about a job but she did let on for him to meet her at the mall to help her 'find a new location for the shop'. Enough said, Rayna knew that he would understand what the text was about, she would just have to brief him there since she had no clue to when he would return home. Worse come to worse Rayna was more then able to complete the job herself, but the extra time she would have to take would be a pain. No, this was a job for the both of them, and knowing Lukas he wouldn't be long either way. She hardly made a project about what to wear, no all she did was slip on some blue jeans and a black tang top. With that her red leather jacket was not forgotten. There was not a day that went by that Rayna didn't wear her jacket, and if she did have to leave it home then she had to have a really good reason. There was no reason for today, plus the jacket made things so much easier for Rayna to hide her gun. Today she would only take her spare, a HK 45 pistol a beautiful German made handgun. This was her everyday gun, the one she carried the most. The best part was that she even had a permit for the gun, of course faked, but the U.S. police knew no difference. [/classy]
With everything being ready Rayna checked on the shop once more before she made her grand escape. Once outside she jumped onto her bike and headed to the mall, hopefully Lukas wouldn't keep her waiting too long. After all this was an active job, she was on a timer so he was as well. Rayna had decided that she would give him two hours, that meant by one o'clock if he didn't get to the mall by then she would carry out the job herself. After all Rayna had been working for the Russian mafia for years, she knew what she was doing, with or without a partner. The ride was quick, only a good ten or so minutes with the city traffic. With a two hour limit Rayna thought the best she could do would be to scout the area, the mall was a big place, but the outside was just as important. She ended up spending a good hour and a half counting exits, windows, the number of shops listed in the mall and the number of guards each floor had at one time. With only 30 minutes left to wait for Lukas she decided to head for the food court, even Rayna knew that the court would be the most likely place when meeting someone. Grabbing some lunch she picked a table and took a seat. Now to wait for the idiot to show up.

He'd been in the middle of an important phone call when he'd gotten the message - which meant he hadn't been able to leave until a good twenty minutes after he'd received it. He couldn't help but be amazed at the horrible timing - but, no matter. He'd still arrived with time to spare - which he used to his advantage. In other words - he'd made it his personal ambition for the next hour or so to not find Rayna. And that had proven difficult at times, what with the woman wandering about…with as good as he was at molding into the crowd, red hair was hard to miss - he'd spent a lot of time ducking into elevators.
He knew the minute he decided he was up to dealing with Rayna, she would bitch at him about how he was supposed to be doing his job - when he'd actually been doing just that. He'd already figured out most the layout of the area should they need a fast exit, always a basic first, along with which guards were kiss-ups and which thought they were real authority and would end up coming after them if anything went awry…you know, very small matters that would make a difference in the end, but what Rayna would consider useless. Was he making an excuse to kill time? Yeah, sure, but he was still doing something. Lukas didn't give two shits - he knew how to do his job and did it well, so whatever she said had little to no merit on him about the subject. After all, she'd been assigned to him so maybe she'd learn how to calm the hell down…not that she seemed to be retaining much of that.
Ehn. Whatever. It wasn't his problem. Maybe if he waited it out another few months of working with her, he could just go to the higher-ups and tell them there was little else he could do…and that their next best bet would be tranquilizers. Elephant tranquilizers. Sadly, Lukas had none of these on hand himself - instead, he had a cookie. He was walking into the battlefield of woman emotions…armed with just a fresh, heaven-scented, mall cookie. Well, he was armed otherwise…just, not as a method against Rayna. Unless something got really bad and…right no, shooting your partner was bad, right? Yeah, something like that.
Quite frankly Lukas used partner as a very loose term…he felt more like he was babysitting. Sigh. Even from behind, it didn't take much effort to spot the blonde hair and red of her jacket - which he sometimes wondered if she slept in - though he made no rush to get to her. He soaked up his last glare-and-bitch free moments sidling between chairs and tables, approaching at an angle that she wouldn't be able to see until he dropped right in front of her. When he reached her he leaned the weight of one hand against the back of her chair, and dangled his small treat bag in front of her face.
"Oh light of my life, have you been waiting long?" he drawled lazily, leaning most his weight into where his hand was gripped, tilting to the side enough to eye her over the rim of his sunglasses. He kept his expression perfectly straight despite the fact his tone dripped with sarcasm, pretending as if he hadn't just purposely kille a couple hours until he met with her. He could come up with an excuse so easy it was ridiculous…but he wouldn't. Why? Fabricating stories was for the job only…he saw no use for them otherwise.

Of course Lukas would be the type to waste his time being a pain in the ass. If Rayna didn't know better she would have shot him a long time ago, sadly that just wasn't allowed. For now should would just have to deal with him the best that she could, by complaining. It wasn't much of a tactic but for the moment there wasn't much she could do while they were in public. Rayna never flinched while Lukas took the rout of leaning over her chair to get to her, sorry boy but no matter of treat was going to save him. "Oh how thoughtful." Rayna grabbed the bag from him and laid it on the table before grabbing onto his shirt and lightly pulled his face closer to hers. To the public they looked like a sweet couple meeting for a date, while in truth Rayna took the second to relay what information she knew by whispering it into his ear. "I took time scouting the area when I came, exits, windows, shops listed and number of guards each floor has. I trust you have done the same or more, the information is in an envelope under my food tray." She left his ear alone and just to rattle him a bit she caught his lips for a moment in a passing kiss before she turned to the bag with the cookie.
"Sweetie you shouldn't have, now I am tempted to spoil my lunch. I have an idea, I'll eat this and you can finish my lunch?" Without ever taking an acting class in her life Rayna was doing a wonder job at playing the bright happy girlfriend. Most of the time the pair would pretend to be siblings or best friends but since he was late Rayna had chosen his role for him, the thoughtful boyfriend. She pushed the tray away from her and towards the seat next to her. Then she proceeded to pull out her cookie and eat it. It was Lukas's form of a peace offering, a pretty good offer to. Rayna and Lukas had their problems but the two were a pretty good team. Of course Rayna did not think so but the higher ups were convinced. Lukas had what Rayna would deem useless, well except the hand to hand combat, that was good, the rest wasn't. That reminded her Lukas had promised to teach her some disarming moves recently, she would have to remember to remind him later. While she waited for him to look over today's job she took a moment to relax.
After all with Lukas there she was finally able to take things easy, with him she could just lean back and let him take lead. "So what do you think we should do first?" She was asking about the job, but to anyone around them she was just asking how they should start their date, simple enough.

He had little to no reaction when she dragged him down, simply allowed it, without even a noise of protest. In fact he rolled with it – moving his now free hand to plant on her shoulder, and smirked sideways at her as she spoke against his ear. He didn't even bat an eyelash when she questioned his ability at his job – he didn't have to prove himself to her, he knew that he knew how to do his job.“Oh but dear how could you ever doubt my effectiveness. You act as if I haven't been doing this for half my life.” he intoned in a low, perfectly friendly voice, deciding that if she was going to play this game, he planned to toy with it. It was his personal goal to irritate the woman – then when she blew a gasket, calmly point out that this was why she could no longer work by herself.
Keeping that same tone, he added on “I also have a list of who may be the most trouble for us should something go...badly.” It was at that point that she ended the very short information exchange before anything looked suspicious. Mind you she ended it a tad more extravagant that he'd expected, but the little surprise he had shown was hidden by his sunglasses. He supposed that kiss was somehow his punishment...how that was, he wasn't sure. 'Shoulda expected this. Ah well. If she wants to play house, so be it. I'll use it against her later.' And no doubt he would. Normally he wasn't a terribly vindictive person, at least not over such petty things – but Rayna begged for exceptions, it seemed.
And with that final thought, he moved to sit beside her fluidly, folding his arms in front of him atop the table and leaning on his elbows. He used the shade of his glasses as cover as his eyes slid subtly to be sure there was no one terribly close to them – like those damned rent-a-cops who thought they were some sort of real authority, and jumped at the chance to 'display their power'. Luckily, the nearest people were a few quietly chattering young adults, which left them with decent privacy. Still, you could never be too safe. He adopted a smile when Rayna spoke again, a mixture of feigned affection and a touch of mockery just for her as he took the tray silently from her.
In one movement he'd reached for a fork and grabbed the instructions at the same time, keeping them under the tray of food but sliding his eyes over them as quickly as he could, keeping sure to keep his other hand busy so that any passing eyes would pay attention to that one – first fumbling with the fork he reached for, then reaching up to press the sunglasses further up his face – refusing to remove them simply because they covered which direction his eyes were actually moving in. 'Kidnapping and extortion...and just get the father out in the open and eliminate him. Simple enough.' Nevermind that the target in question was a CEO of a multi-million dollar airline company and was, apparently, a paranoid little shit...but hey, Lukas did so love a challenge.
Finally, as soon as he finished scanning the quick information, he took a bite of Rayna's half-eaten food, and took a moment to showily pretend to think about what they were going to do. Hey, so had a flair for the dramatic – he was conditioned for it. “Hm, well, I'm not sure. Don't you want to stick around and maybe browse the stores?” 'Good job Lukas, shoot yourself in the foot.' Ehn, he'd suffer the consequences later. Not like he had to actually stick around if she did go shopping... “Your sister works here right? We can wait for her to get off work – take her with us to the movies or something. Do you know what time she gets off?” 'Considering we're waiting around here I assume that as a no, but you can always hope...'

She had the admit it, Lukas had some acting talent in him. The guy did not skip a beat when Rayna had carried on as if he was her boyfriend. She should have known that he would, but she had hoped to get a little more shock out of him. She noticed that the most she got was that fact that she had caught him off guard when she had kissed him. At least she knew that was going to happen, after all for all of Lukas's suave tricks she was probably the only women he knew that he hadn't been able to sleep with. Rayna had a made a deal with him a good number of months ago, if he every brought a women home he would have to share. It was a joke of course but Rayna has seen that he was willing to take her up on the offer, she had declined since. After all Rayna was not only picky about her men but she was also stubborn and wasn't about to allow Lukas even a peek. Funny enough he hadn't tried as must as she exspected other then the normal pass every now and then.
She finally got to opening his littlegift to find a cookie, not something she normally ate but there was nothing wrong about a cookie. She munched on said cookie quietly while she allowed Lukas the time to get a little lunch in him and read over the instructions they were give. The job was not going to be a hard one, the hardest part would be the wait its self. Rayna wasn't a fan of sitting around and doing nothing unless she was behind a sniper rifle. At least then she would have the trill of the kill backing her up, this was all beneath her. Kidnapping? Really? and where did the higher ups thing they were going to do with the damn girl, keep her around kill the old man and then set her free? Rayna was against that completely. No, if Ray had anything to say about this job she would do well to but her foot down, after the deal with the old man was done the girl would join him.
Rayna would also make sure that they would request extra then what they were told to ask for, if the father really wanted to get his kid back then the money wouldn't be an option and Rayna and Lukas could walk away with a little extra cash, just maybe. Though money wasn't too important with Ray, but if she had to sit and wait she might as well make sure she got paid for it. Before Rayna could over think anything her thoughts were interrupted by Lukas. "Not a bad idea, a little shopping sounds good." Ah, wasn't he a smart one, coming up with the sister bit out of no where, the guy needed a gold star for that one. Rayna stood up from her chair and looked around for the elevator, then she nodded her head to it while stretching.
"Yea your right, don't you remember? She works in that clothing store Raindrops, we'll go see what time she get's off. We'll ask one of her co-workers if anything. I bet she would like some time to just hang out." Yea, see she did her job too, even found out witch store the girl worked at, just not the time she would get off. Though Rayna had a guess that it would be some time after 6 o'clock which would still give them some time. With a small yawn she grabbed Lukas's hand and dragged him towards the elevator and made sure that they were the only two to get on.
That was when her mood finally changed she let him go and glared at him. "The shop is on the third floor, I saw a girl there that looked about your type so your in charge of finding out when miss lucky gets off work. Once we find that out we'll go from there." She pulled up her sleve a little to check her watch, it was already 2 o'clock, Lukas had wasted too much of their time. "I'm guessing, from what I know, that her shift might end by 6, the lates would be 9, when the mall closes. It is a school night after all. Worse, if she is working till close that would mean more people to deal with." Rayna kept her eyes on the blinking floor numbers, they hadn't even moved from the floor they were on yet while she was talking. Which meant Lukas would have time to talk up too.

He allowed himself to be dragged up, though he had to resist rolling his eyes when he realized she'd left a lovely piece of evidence behind - yeah, there were a lot of reasons he was babysitting her. He made to snatch for the paper still affixed underneath the tray (which was a far more obvious movement than he normally liked to display, but the dumb broad was dragging him, and he'd rather retrieve the paper than be subtle), and stuffed it in the inside pocket of his blazer, hoping no cameras caught that movement. After all, as soon as it was realized where his daughter had been kidnapped from, big daddy would have the authorities reviewing security tapes - the less suspicious behavior, the better. Obviously, Rayna didn't realize this. Then again, when did she ever.
He ignored her ire towards him once they'd been sealed off in the elevator, taking a moment to exaggeratedly straighten his shirt and eye each corner of said elevator. Hm, back right. "Do you ever even look for cameras…we're in a public building." he asked idly, his lips only barely moving so that his words would be hard to pick out, knowing quite well that the most they could do was see them, not hear - he knew that type of camera just by cursory glance. He made a pointed movement to lean against the wall so that his back faced the camera, and, for added effect - and to silently mock Rayna for her choice on how to treat him - he slung one arm to hang loosely over her shoulders, managing to look perfectly relaxed, in great contrast to his all-business tone.
He listened to her explanation, one eye on the elevator number to see how much time they had before they were thrown back into public eye. He made no sign of hearing her besides the clear, fast responses her gave. "Getting paid to flirt with people, tsk tsk, I do say I think I'm spoiled." 'If only because that's easy to do for me…' Key aspect of being likeable sometimes? Flattery. Luckily he didn't mind pressing it on either gender - though mind you it had gotten him in trouble a couple times. That was beyond the point, though.
"The more people, the more fun it is. And keep in mind to take it easy - we're using the daughter as a lure, we don't want to cause a scene, and we don't want the guy to know we're using his kid to lure him into public eye. He's supposed to think it's a normal ransom - and he's the only one you're supposed to shoot, by the way." He tapped her shoulder pointedly as he said it, as if to physically drill the point home. "And yes before you ask this will be a slightly longer job so-" there was a soft ding, indicating the door was about to open, and he switched his voice tone quickly enough to give someone whiplash. "I hope that you won't be too disappointed that I can't afford anything too extravagant." he finished off an entirely different, amiable-toned sentence as a weary-looking young mother and her two sons entered the elevator.
He shot the woman a polite smile as he slid past the group, guiding Rayna by the shoulders ahead of him, and had slipped right back into what someone would consider a 'normal' persona. As soon as the elevator closed behind him he released the blonde, seeing as he had to look…'available' if he were to properly work information out of the store manager - he was sure the store wasn't that immediately close, if his memory served correct, but better safe than sorry. "Be sure not to get in a fight over a pair of shoes again, sweetheart, I heard there's some security here who thinks they're the real deal." And that was the best he could do as surrounded by people as they were now.

Unlike Lukas, Rayna wasn't the type to worry about the small details, that was his job. After all once she had passed the paper to him it became his problem. If he had left it there then that would be that, it's not like a piece of paper would cause much of a problem. The orders were in Russian and encrypted, for anyone to really read it they would need to know what to look for. Then when it came to the elevator Rayna had done her best to make the convocation quick and to the point. Once again it was his job to keep an eye on the camera after all Rayna knew he would so why should she worry? Plus how many rent-a-cops were trained to read lips? She doubt there were many or any at all. Lukas was just a worrier, though Rayna could blame him, the guy liked it here and planned to work in America the rest of his life. Rayna on the other hand was fine with going back home or even taking a trip to Germany, either would be fine.
Ding, the doors opened and their killer chat went into a more fitting chat between a boyfriend and his girl. She smiled at the women and her sons and Lukas guided her pass them. Rayna almost snorted at Lukas's comment about money, who was he kidding? Anything her got for her would be asked for back, getting Lukas to buy anything was like asking for a two week IOU. She was tempted to sign but instead she patted Lukas' arm and said. "I'm sorry you have to work two part time jobs and yet you still have the time to take me out, aren't you just perfect?" She leaned in and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. That was when he let go of her and make himself look more tasty just by keeping her off his arm. Time to go to work huh? "Shoes? Not today, I'm thinking a whole new outfit is needed, and I know the perfect place."
With that Rayna led the way, slowly seeming more like a friend then a girlfriend, after all it would be much easier to play at the store. Speaking of, it took a minute but once they came to the targeted area Rayna tapped Lukas and then pointed. "Right there, that place has some good clothes." Then she was off, leaving Lukas to do his job while Rayna distracted a worker or two on the which shirt goes with my eyes game. Rayna hoped that Lukas wouldn't spend too much of his time flirting, after all they were on a job and Rayna couldn't stand it if he was the only one to have fun. She grabbed a yellow and black shirt and then a blue and white shirt and started on her way to her own little shopping spree.

...Aren't you just perfect? 'Damn straight I am' he thought vaguely, wishing dearly he could say it out loud just for the amusement of seeing Rayna's expression. The best he could do was give her expression that conveyed the statement as best he could – though it probably came off as more amusement to the fact she called him perfect – acting or no. What could he say, he was easily amused. He mirrored her actions seamlessly as she began to pull away from him, letting his eyes skirt around to double-check the area they were entering – watching for any security, and re-assessing where the cameras were.
Better safe than sorry. However, as soon as Rayna pointed out their destination, his scoping of the area ceased, and he reached up to slip the sunglasses off his face, stuffing them into the inner pocket of his blazer. Eye contact always made someone seem more sincere – and no matter how much he loved his shades, they had to go in order to do his job effectively for the moment. He couldn't resist shooting Rayna a mocking wink before he set off in a different direction, once again scoping the area, looking for whomever looked like the highest authority in the area that was female. He wouldn't have qualms sweet-talking with a male, either, but usually – they had qualms with him. It made life so difficult sometimes.
He was lucky for the moment, however. The bossiest, most haughty-looking individual in sight was definitely female, and not too horrible on the eyes. That made things so ridiculously simple he almost felt cheated out of a challenge. All he had to do was saunter up, make a comment about how he was waiting for his sister to be done shopping, give a little small talk, make an offhand comment about how he was going to stay here a bit, seeing as he far preferred her company to his sister's...it was like taking candy from a baby. Especially since she was the high-and-mighty type of chick, who loved having their ego stroked.
She complained a lot, he noticed...which meant she revealed information almost without prompting. As soon as she started complaining about coworkers he'd latched onto the subject and asked her about them. What followed was a ten-minute, mind-numbing ramble which he only half picked up – of course only paying attention when it involved their target. Dear Melissa Herwald...who's daddy was rolling in the dough but the girl was viciously independent and rather than leech, got a job herself. He had to commend the girl – too bad they had to hold her hostage.
At some point he decided it was probably a good idea to pull himself away – he'd been schmoozing for probably thirty to forty minutes...Rayna was likely going insane. As subtlety as he could, he activated one of his phones, did a fantastic job acting as if he'd just gotten an important message, and asked the girl what time she was getting off work. He already had the information he needed for Melissa – he wasn't entirely sure when that came up, but the woman had volunteered the information...but he had to seem like he sincerely wished to see her again. Which, he didn't – she was fairly pretty, sure, but her voice grated on him, and the first word he would think to describe her would be 'flake'. Yeah, no. He had what he wanted, so he shot her a sincere smile before he slid his sunglasses back on, making to exit the store.
“Come on Ray, we have to go pick up your friend.” he called over to his blonde counterpart, making a subtle hand motion for her to follow him out.
