fire, or perhaps spirit

○ It is Willis’ greatest goal in life to be everything his father expects him to be and more. This, in turn has made him into an obedient and hardworking young man. As the son of a wealthy businessman, he has had etiquette drilled into him at a young age. And as such, it has become second nature for him to be well-mannered and polite around others, to the point that he has become adept at hiding negative emotions.
○ The teen feels a great need to compete with his brother, who is his father’s pride, and his sister, who is the baby princess of the family, for his parents’ attention, especially his father’s attention. He is constantly striving hard for the purpose, albeit he tries to do it in as subtle a manner as he can manage. This rivalry keeps him somewhat cold towards his siblings but he maintains a relatively cordial relationship with them all the same. Willis finds relief from the pressures of life by indulging secretly in free-running.

○ Although Willis’ family cannot truly be counted among the richest families in New York, one cannot argue that the boy had been born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Since day one, he was brought up with the best things money can buy. And being the younger of two brothers at the time, Willis received ample love and affection from those around him, be it from parents or the aunties and uncles both related and unrelated to him.[/blockquote]
○ From the start though, he had always looked up to his brother, who (in his eyes) seemed to be outstanding at everything he did, be it sports, academics or even music. And so, as a boy he’d always strive to be more and more like his brother; because his brother had good grades, he studied hard in school; because his brother often won medals for his school’s swim team, Willis trained hard at athletics. However, no matter how hard he tried to excel at those things, he always seemed to fall just slightly shy of his brother’s achievements. This only exception was his attempt to pick up piano; Willis showed no sign of talent whatsoever when it came to music. But even then, he was still well-loved, being the youngest in the family.
○ That was, until the birth of his little sister when he was eight. The little girl quickly became the family favorite. The shift in attention, which had been all too visible, frustrated him, pushing him to work harder, although to no avail. It wasn’t until he turned thirteen that he was finally able to find an outlet for his this frustration. The youth had refused the ride home from his driver one day, choosing instead to walk while he mulled over his frustrations. It was then that he came across a group of youths performing leaps and jumps as they sprinted through the streets. Curious, he followed, thankful the have been dressed for physical education that day. Eventually, he befriended them and began joining them on late-night free-running excursions.
○ One other thing worth noting is that Willis’ father, having hailed from more-than-humble beginnings, is a strong advocate of having his children understand the true meaning of hard work. Thus, from an early age, Willis and his siblings have had to perform odd jobs and various chores in order to earn their allowances. By age twelve, Willis began frequenting his father’s office, but it wasn’t until after his fifteenth birthday that he started his internship at the company. By then though, he was already fairly familiar with the workings of his father’s corporation. Willis continues to work hard both in school and in his father’s company in hopes of earning his old man’s recognition. To date, he has not yet been caught sneaking off at night to join his free-running companions and attributes his injuries to the training sessions for his school’s track team.
