○ PATIENT || When dealing with mischievous twins and theirdumbassfather, patience is absolutely required. Thankfully, the jade-eyed girl has an abundance of patience. Growing up the calm and kind Miwata, Shin’ya was taught the importance of having patience. She learned that one would never truly learn or experience anything around them if they moved quickly all the time; you miss far too many things. Patience also provides a doorway to getting to know a person a little better and to having a good life. Unfortunately for Shin’ya, her patience tends to run drastically thin when it involves being about one Nachi Shirokane; she just can’t help but snap.
○ TENDERHEARTED || Despite her typically cool exterior, Shin’ya is actually quite the emotional person. Taking a bit after her adoptive mother, the young femme is actually quite the kind person. Hurting her feelings is actually much easier than people would think. It’s because of that fact that she doesn’t like people knowing her feelings that most people would think otherwise. But there are the relative few that she doesn’t mind showing her emotions to. She tends to fairly nice to others, but because of her usual emotionless state, people take it the wrong way. Shin’ya is overly kind to anyone but children; she absolutely adores them after all.
○ POLITE || Considering she has a job being a waitress, Shin’ya has to be polite. She’ll put on a ghost of a smile and act accordingly, being as sweet as possible without acting like a moron. The girl has enough decency to be kind and do anything to keep herself from embarrassing herself or anyone else for that matter. Although there are times where she feels like acting like a total bitch and being rude to everyone, she doesn’t allow herself that kind of luxury. And besides, if she wasn’t polite, Miwata would probably be ashamed since she taught the long-haired girl much better than that.
○ PROTECTIVE || She might be a compassionate individual most of the time, but she doesn’t play around when it comes to those she feels compelled to protect. No danger would come within 10 miles of those she cares about if it was up to her, but because it’s not, she does her damnedest to protect them. Sure, sometimes she can be a bit overbearing with how protective she can get (particularly with her twins), but at least she doesn’t border on being territorial like someone she knows. She knows how to give people their space and leave them alone. Besides, she doesn’t have time to stalk people.
○ CLEVER|| Since she was younger, Shin’ya has always been praised for being quite the intellectual. Being at the top of her class in school, she is quite obviously book-smart. This proves to be true for the fact that she was able to go to NYU with a scholarship. However, not the same can exactly be said when it comes to matters of love and lust. Besides, when dealing with tricksters such as her twins and their father, one needs to be smart to stay one step ahead of them to keep away from trouble. The less trouble she has to deal with, the better her life will be.
○ DISTANT || Due to her usually aloof exterior, she is often referred to as a coldhearted bitch. She doesn’t like making contact with others unless it’s absolutely necessary. Shin’ya won’t make it a point to be open towards people unless it’s someone close to her. Even then, she really won’t make it a point to tell the people close to her about how she is or what she’s doing. She has always been a very private person. She keeps to herself too much for her family’s liking, but they’re used to it by now even though a lot of people don’t like that part about her.
○ SARCASTIC || Being the pessimist that she is, Shin’ya has a tendency to be mean through being cynical. She may be a nice person, but she doesn’t have to always be nice and polite. If she doesn’t like a person, it is to be expected for her to be throwing contemptuous comments ever so often towards them. Her sense of humor tends be a little on the mean side, but she knows how to keep certain comments to herself. That is, unless she is in a foul mood and feels the need to be cruel. However, such an occurrence is exceedingly rare due to her patience.
○ IGNORANT || Shin’ya may be book-smart, but she is definitely ignorant when it comes to matters such as love and lust. She has no real experience with love that goes beyond familial love or friendship sort of love. In her world, there is really nothing that goes beyond that; or she would like to think so anyways. Lust is something completely unfamiliar to her. Sure, she can be heavily attracted to a guy, but she’ll never think anything more of it. The dark-haired femme will simply categorize it as being very attracted to a person rather than lusting after them. It’s quite comical if one thinks about it seeing as she’s ignorant of love and lust yet she managed to lie in bed with someone that exudes lust.
○ STUBBORN || Completely stubborn to a fault, it’s one of the things that she knows that people don’t exactly like about her. Her family would like to think of her as just being overly determined, but Shin’ya knows that she’s stubborn. When she’s made up her mind about something, that’s it. There is no way to talk her out of thinking something unless one feels like trying very hard to convince her otherwise. Even then, the person is lucky if her mind is changed even in the slightest bit. Perhaps that is why Shin’ya will never think of Nachi as being nothing more than a flirtatious ass no matter how much he tries.
○ TEMPERMENTAL || Yes, she’s patient. Yes, she’s kind. Yes, she is usually calm. But seriously, don’t try to abuse that. Like everyone else in the world, Shin’ya has a breaking point. Although it might take quite a bit unless your name is Nachi, she can be quite the snappy person. She can be as angry as a raging bull going after an idiot wearing red. So unless you feel like calling out “bloody murder” or something like that, just don’t do anything to piss her off. She might not necessarily look like it or even act like it for that matter, but she does have a killer intent.

○ To say in the very least, Shin’ya’s birth was a very unexpected one. It was also quite forbidden at that considering the fact that her mother was an officer-in-training and her father was a branch member of a yakuza family. Mixing of such people was forbidden in both of her parents’ strict and traditional families. But you know how life is; sometimes temptation is so deliciously hard to resist.[/blockquote]
○ It all began with her parents back in Japan. Shin’ya’s mother, Midori Sawajiri, came from a long line of police officers. They had very strict rules in which Midori grew up learning, and it was also because of her family that she met their rivals, the infamous yakuza family known as the Ankoku family and the promising son Ryuuno. They were supposed to be natural enemies since they were on opposite sides of the law, but that wasn’t so seeing as the duo fell in love with one another. It wasn’t a big deal in the beginning; all Midori and Ryuuno did was linger around each other from time to time. But soon they began to see more and more of one another and their meetings were in secret like the rest of their relationship. However, something that couldn’t be kept a secret was the fact that Midori soon became pregnant with Ryuuno’s child.
○ The members of the Sawajiri family were absolutely outraged at the very thought that their beloved Midori committed such a sin as having her innocence taken away before marriage on top of getting pregnant with the child of a Akoku member. They grew even more nastily bitter and violent whenever Ryuuno or the other members of the yakuza family came nearby; especially because they had all pretty much convinced themselves that the young Ryuuno had raped their precious Midori, so they were out for his head. But regardless of what was happening around them, Ryuuno and Midori continued their forbidden relationship up until his death.
○ There was only a few more weeks left until the snow would come fluttering down and for the birth of the couple’s daughter. Unfortunately for them, Ryuuno would never see the first snowfall of the year; nor would he get to see his firstborn daughter. Midori’s family grew to hate the male so immensely that the police family came up with a plot of sorts to exterminate him. And although Midori protested against such an act as much as she could, her family refused to listen to her. As a result of this, she tried to protect her beloved against them by trying to send him away. The act was in vain, however, because Ryuuno ended up sacrificing himself so Midori and their child would not be harmed in his place. His sacrifice wouldn’t be forgotten by his beloved and she would hold herself completely responsible for the rest of her days.
○ Just a few days after the first snowfall of the year, Midori’s daughter was born in a blizzard-filled night. Bearing the child with the name Shin’ya, the young mother knew would her child would never live a normal life like any of the children among her family. Simply because of the fact that Shin’ya was born outside of marriage and her bloodline. But regardless of what Shin’ya was, Midori would love her only child with all her heart and soul. In a deep part of her, however, lurked the feeling that loving her daughter wouldn’t be enough to protect her from the rest of the still vengeful Sawajiri family.
○ When Shin’ya was only a few months old, Midori was faced with a grand dilemma. She had been informed by a close cousin that the rest of her family feared that her daughter would attract the attention of the Ankoku family, and that the child would turn on them if she learned that they were the ones who killed her father. The Sawajiri family began planning to get rid of the child before she became a threat to them as well. Horrified by the fact that her family was so willing to get rid of Shin’ya, Midori decided that it was perhaps the best time to take her daughter away from the rest of them. The thought of leaving her family, however, disheartened Midori. They were the only ones she had ever known to love her aside from Ryuuno; how could she possibly move away from her beloved family? The answer: she wouldn’t, but Shin’ya would.
○ On a dreary, moonless night, the aspiring policewoman packed up her daughter and took the baby to a different city to visit her most trusted friend, Miwata Gekkou. She walked around for quite a while with her daughter in her arms as she waited for her friend to appear. When she did, Midori immediately asked the woman to take her daughter for her and care for her as if she was her own child. With some reluctance, Miwata took Shin’ya into her arms, saddened that the child would never really know her real family. Face streaming with tears, Midori bid her daughter and Miwata farewell before leaving to go back to her family. That was the very last time mother and daughter would meet.
○ For about twelve years, Shin’ya lived alongside her adoptive mother, the loving teacher Miwata Gekkou, and her mother’s pet, a dog known as Kaoto. Her life with Miwata was gentle and loving, but also quite educational. The older woman taught the Shin’ya quite a few things as the child grew older such as how to read and write among other things. Through her adoptive mother’s help, the young girl did well when it came to anything educational and was usually at the top of her class.
○ Miwata treated Shin’ya like her own child from the very day that she received her from Midori. To her, the young girl had been a blessing instead of a curse as the Sawajiri family would have probably called Shin’ya. The older femme had always wanted to have a child of her own, but never had the chance to. As a result, Miwata taught her adopted daughter everything she knew about life and always did what she could to keep her happy. The two always shared a special bond in each other’s hearts as they taught one another something new.
○ It wasn’t until Shin’ya reached the age of twelve that the thought that she was adopted really occurred to her. Of course, she had always known that she wasn’t Miwata’s actual daughter thanks to the strange looks she received from her peers at school. But her maturing looks often hid the truth for a while since she looked a bit like Miwata.
○ For an entire year, the young jade-eyed girl pondered on whether or not if she should ask her beloved mother figure if she could know tell her about her birth parents. Surely, she was old enough and she knew for a fact that Miwata wasn’t her birth mother, so why wouldn’t she? A child didn’t deserve to be kept in the dark about her real family and she needed to know more about herself. Of course, she could not blame the older woman for the lack of knowledge Shin’ya had about herself. Miwata did raise her like any mother would raise their child and that was all Shin’ya could ever ask for. But there was another side of her that was missing and she needed to find it.
○ After much thought about her decision about asking her mother to learn about her real family and possibly meeting them, a man named Masaru Ankoku appeared. He claimed to be her father’s brother and he arrived to bring her home to live with the Ankoku family. Shin’ya was very reluctant to say yes at first but after Miwata encouraged her daughter to agree, Shin’ya gave her mother her teary final goodbyes before going off to live with her uncle and his two daughters. It was then that a new period in her life began.
○ Life with her uncle Masaru, his two daughters Reira and Ruri, and the rest of the Ankoku family was pretty strange to Shin’ya. The people around her weren’t as caring as she thought they would be, and she often felt lonesome without Miwata and Kaoto there with her. She traveled from place to place with her family for various reasons, though the excuse they often gave was something about having to keep the family safe from “unwanted idiots.” And when months passed, she still found almost close to nothing about her birth parents as the family wouldn’t say a word about them. Not a single drop of information crossed her way and she slowly began losing hope of ever really finding out anything about them. Her luck somewhat changed, however, when Reira told her that the families of her parents’ hated one another. Other than that, she was pretty much kept in the dark about everything else.
○ After staying with the Ankoku family for about a year, Shin’ya was nearly fourteen years-old and she was hit with a bit of a surprise. A young child that couldn’t be any older than four years-old was found resting in one of the empty bedrooms in the Ankoku house. She looked fragile and alone and her raggedy clothing was decorated in dried blood. On top of that, she wouldn’t speak when she was brought to see Masaru. But to everyone’s surprise, the little child talked to Shin’ya quite easily. It was then when everyone learned that the young girl was named Sasami Yūgure, and she had been running away from a vicious aunt who was abusive towards her.
○ Feeling (somewhat) sorry for Sasami, the Ankoku family started developing ideas on what to do for the little girl. It was then that Masaru made the suggestion that the young girl would become his adopted daughter and stay with him. Everyone but Shin’ya liked the idea. She never had a sibling and was an only child for most of her life unlike most of her family. She already had to deal with her cousins Reira and Ruri, so of course she came up with the idea that Sasami could stay with someone else in the family. But she changed her mind once the young child embraced the dark-haired girl with an innocent smile. That began the sisterly relationship between Sasami and Shin’ya.
○ A year after Sasami came to live with Shin’ya and her uncle’s family, Reira declared she was getting married. It was a complete shock to everyone in the Ankoku family to hear that she was planning to leave them behind and get married. Of course, Shin’ya and Sasami understood her wish and even accompanied their cousin to visit her fiancé. His house was about a quarter of a mile away from their current house, but the two “siblings” were more than happy to see their cousin off. But answers that Shin’ya had been looking for earlier the year before would be found there; even if she was in for a very brutal awakening.
○ When the trio got to the fiancé’s home, they were met with a few members of the Sawajiri family that were family friends of the fiancé. The cheery mood that the Sawajiri family members held soon changed to horror and anger when they realized who the man was marrying. Their faces soured further when they laid eyes on young Shin’ya which resulted in terrified screaming and calling Shin’ya an unholy monster. Puzzled by this, little Sasami demanded for an explanation. The eldest of the visiting policemen told the three girls the story of their beloved Midori and her damned lover, Ryuuno Ankoku. She told the three of how their relationship resulted in a despicable child that would’ve wrought havoc for the law just by her very presence. And because of the guilt that she had felt by giving away her first child, Midori left her job as a policewoman in a crazed fashion. It had been years since they heard a word from Midori and that they had gotten nothing but blessings since Shin’ya’s departure. Then, something in Shin’ya cracked.
○ Being told all of this new information both excited her and broke her heart. Her mother’s family had gotten rid of her father out of pure hatred for him and his family due to being yakuza members and had basically banished her because of her bloodline. Her mother had given her up only as a way of protecting her from such a horrible environment, but she felt angry towards Midori for doing so. Feeling extremely overwhelmed by this, Shin’ya took hold of Sasmi’s hand and ran off towards her home with the Ankoku family. The answers she had been looking for weren’t the ones she had hoped for, but she accepted them regardless.
○ The next few years of her life were relatively quiet for the most part. Her family had moved to New York in order to escape the police back in Japan. She then met Kurai Chinatsu and quickly became friends of sorts with her. Then she met Kura’s boyfriend Fuhenori Shirokane and befriended him. Her life was pretty good in her opinion. It didn’t exactly stay that way when she was seventeen and she met Fuhenori’s younger brother, Nachi.
○ To say that meeting the younger Shirokane brother was the worst day of her life had to be the biggest understatement of her lifetime. She had met him on pure accident on a day where she went to the Shirokane household to see if Nori and Kura were around. It would seem that some divine being decided to damn her by making Nachi open the door instead of a maid or something like that. Her first impression of him was that he was a bit of an ass and completely uncaring just at first glance. However, when he started hitting on her, that opinion was changed for the worst. She fled from the house in order to get away from the offending male, but unfortunately for her, that caught his interest.
○ For the next few months of her life, it was hell. She had to make for damned sure that any place she ended up going with Kura and Nori with that Nachi wouldn’t be there to follow. He began to heavily flirt with her much to her chagrin and she absolutely hated that. She would brush him off the grand majority of the time, but he always had a way of annoying her beyond comprehension. He tried getting into her pants on more than one occasion to which she absolutely refused. However, a mutual friend’s party presented an interesting situation.
○ During this party, Kura and Shin’ya began playing a game of Truth or Dare. Nothing had been too serious in consideration of the game until Kura dared the younger femme to “sleep with Nachi.” Shin’ya had absolutely been against it, but at the thought of chickening out, she steeled herself by taking a small shot of “liquid courage” and went looking for Nachi. It began with a kiss and it ended in the bedroom. Needless to say, when the dark-haired girl woke up, she made her escape to save herself from further embarrassment.
○ When Shin’ya was returning home, she caught sight of a massive crowd around an ambulance and police cars blocking the street she usually took to get home. Curiosity overpowered her and she got closer to see what had happened. Her heart nearly stopped when she spotted her uncle’s car almost completely crushed to the point of being unrecognizable save for the license plate that was semi-intact in the front. Her eyes traveled all over the scene before her, eyes widening in horror when she saw blood on the ground and a white tarp covering a body which was holding a small little doll. Sasami’s doll.
○ She hadn’t even noticed that she was crying from how numb she began to feel. She didn’t know what to feel at that point and didn’t even care how she looked to the rest of the people around her. The young femme was lost and felt nothing but emptiness inside, staying in a bit of a trance for a while until she felt someone touch her. Jade eyes staring at the source of the touch, she realized it was her cousin Ruri and automatically hugged her, letting out a long sob that lasted until she was home again.
○ Days after the incident, they traveled back to Japan for a few days and held a funeral for Sasami. Very few of the Ankoku family members cried save for some of the mothers in the family; it was mainly Shin’ya that did the crying on this day. Saying their final goodbyes to the adopted daughter of Masaru, they closed the casket and buried her where the rest of the Ankoku family would be buried.
○ The world was a calm one for Shin’ya the few months after Sasami’s death. She still felt a bit depressed, but she looked to her family, Kura and Nori for some semblance of comfort. However, the calm period she was experiencing was brought to an abrupt end when she went for a check-up at the doctor’s. According to some blood work she had done during her check-up, she was pregnant. It goes without saying how panicked her and her family became after that. Also, she told the news to her two closer companions and made for damned sure not to bump into Nachi. But life just isn’t that fair, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that she indeed bumped into him at Nori’s birthday party.
○ With a relatively large swollen belly, Shin’ya of course managed to attract Nachi’s attention at the party. She did her best to avoid him as a way of not speaking to him, but as fate would have it, they did end up talking. Much to her surprise, Nachi was actually quite excited at the thought of having children. And though it was fairly odd, she simply went along for the ride.
○ The period during her pregnancy was pretty uneventful save for the one confrontation between her, Nachi and the controlling Mamoru. Her family stood behind her at all times especially her uncle. She still went to school and everything as well. It was around spring vacation when the two twins were born. The two twins, one boy and one girl, were named Shii and Chii respectively. They bore Nachi’s looks and character much to the young femme’s chagrin, making them adorable yet mischievous children to handle. It goes without saying that Shin'ya was the one who decided to keep the children with her most of the time since she was the mother. However, she did give Nachi the opportunity to visit the children almost whenever he wanted.
○ Following her graduation from high school, Shin’ya started attending NYU part-time so she could take care of her children. Although the smart move would’ve been to stay at her uncle’s house so her paternal family could help her out, she moved to a small apartment in order to keep the twins from falling into further mischief involving her family’s history. She immediately sought work after that and managed to get a job at a newly opened Applebee’s at Turba Strip in Central New York. Her life remained pretty much the same for the next few years aside from having to say goodbye to her friend Kura and occasionally helping the ever idiotic Nachi getting out of a rut her ran himself into.
