○ On stage, Lochomel, or rather, Zander Murdoch is everything you would expect from a member of a hard-rock band. He's charismatic, intense, captivating, and full of confidence. Off stage, however? Well, real life isn't quite the same. Lochomel is a facet of Zander's personality, true, and a means in which he can express a part of himself that he would otherwise feel uncomfortable expressing. There is some overlap between the two personas, however, so the relationship isn't entirely dissociative. Both Zander and Lochomel seem to be rather philosophical should anyone ask their opinion of the world, and this depth of character is often portrayed in the lyrics of songs that he's written for the band. And both are deeply passionate about their art.
○ Unlike many of the rockstars who've excelled to fame, Lochomel doesn't seem to hold a negative opinion of women. Rather than expressing them to be an object, or singing songs regarding females only for the purposes of sex, Lochomel expresses a rather deep-rooted feminism. When interviewed about his ideal woman, he expresses that, any individual he were to get with would have to challenge him in some way, and be able to meet him head on. Zander, however, is quite the opposite, and would never rise to any challenge. Women make him horribly nervous, and though Lochomel may flirt with one, or may be able to speak with one better than Zander ever would, even he could not reach a level of physical intimacy easily. Growing up, Zander had string of bad girlfriend after bad girlfriend, or horribly awkward encounters, which, in turn, made him less likely to experience physical intimacy. Now in his mid-twenties, sex is almost a frightening concept to him, though Lochomel would be able to disguise that fear more easily as something else. Zander would probably try to lie, semi-fail, and then excuse himself before things became more awkward.
○ Making this rather more strange is the fact that Lochomel, along with other members of the band, are becoming desirable, and even viewed as sex symbols. Lochomel recently posed for an issue of Playgirl, and seemed to have little regard about his own personal modesty. Zander is the same, though he would never be able to do some of the poses that Lochomel did.
○ Though Zander and Lochomel both are pretty decent conversationalists, Lochomel tends to be rather one-tracked, and speak almost exclusively about music, the band, or his bandmates. If someone outside the band approaches him and asks for his opinion, he'll generally be aloof and evasive with most of his answers or opinions, with perhaps the exception of philosophical or theological discussion. Both Lochomel and Zander enjoy the quiet of solitude and find that, the friends they can sit in a room and share a comfortable silence with, are their most valuable. Zander, however, tends to be much more casual, and can make any number of smalltalk with just about anyone. Where Lochomel can be rather frank (sometimes even abrasive) Zander is considerably more tactful, almost to the point of being roundabout. Lochomel always seems focused and intense, more on edge with a more prominent temper, whereas Zander is laidback and easygoing--much more likely to make jokes than Lochomel, whose only form of wit is sarcasm. Zander is pretty much a normal guy. The type to brush off hurtful comments with a "whatever" and pretend he's cool with it. The type to kick back, grab a beer, and watch a game with his friends. He just has a few quirks. And he certainly doesn't scream "rockstar".
○ Both are compassionate men, however, and generally seem concerned for the wellbeing of others. For the time being. They say fame can get to your head.

○ Zander's first love was classical music. His parents, a little on the yuppie side, enrolled him in piano lessons at age five, and at age seven, gave him his first violin. He was brought up listening to Mozart in a household where "yelling" was considered raising your voice ever so slightly. The communication between his parents was rather lacking, and though they played the perfect couple in public, and even in front of their son, things were bad. The two continually tried to smile and pretend like everything was alright, to grit their teeth through their unhappiness for their son's sake, but at age ten, Zander's world came crashing down around him.[/blockquote]
○ He was so confused. Why were his parents splitting up? His parents didn't even fight! He would only realize later, when he was much older, that that may have been the problem. His father told him about how, when he was older, he would understand the difficulties of relationships. His mother would tell him that her and his father were still very good friends, and that everything was okay, but when she thought he was out of earshot, he could hear her crying. As with all divorces, this tore Zander apart inside. His grades plummeted, he got into fights at school, and for a brief time, he bullied other kids. His guidance councilor took a special interest in him, and focused on constructive ways for him to express his unhappiness.
○ It was this that got Zander through the long court battle relating to his parents' divorce. For months after the divorce, Zander seemed considerably different, and distanced himself from both of his parents. He didn't confide in them, and instead elected to come home at some obscene hour in the evening, and never discuss much of anything worthwhile. This was an improvement over yelling at both of them, however, and getting into fights at school. It was around this time that Zander made his first, what he would consider, true friend. Gabriel. Gabriel stuck with him through thick and thin, through days when Zander was an unbearable douche to days when he was down in the dumps. The two would play videogames together, read comics, and Gabriel even lent Zander a few of his fathers' CDs, introducing him to rock and roll. At first, Zander was unsure, but by the second listen of a couple of songs, he was in love.
○ With a little insistence, Zander was able to get his father to buy him a guitar (probably because of how guilty he felt about the divorce). All day and night, Zander would either be blaring rock music through his stereo and headphones, or be learning the new instrument. At first, it was akin to a dying cat, but over time, he improved considerably. A lot of his anger was further expressed through this music, and with the help of Gabriel, his councilor, his parents, and the tests of time, Zander was able to accept his parents' divorce, and essentially get over it. Even if his interests were now drastically different from what they were before.
○ By fourteen, Zander and Gabriel were writing songs together, with Gabriel playing the drums and Zander the guitar. Both of them would write and sing. Granted, the songs were actually pretty terrible and concerned trite matters, but, hey, practice makes perfect, right? The two played in the school's talent show... and though most people were wincing through some parts of the song, some other students were mildly interested in joining. This is when Zander met some of the other people he would consider his true friends. With the exception of the bass player, Shawn. Though the guy was talented, he was, and still is, an asshat. Through the suggestion of Shawn, the band became known as Torment. A rather emo name, but, the bandmates didn't seem to mind too terribly.
○ Torment gained and lost members rather rapidly, usually due to the pressures of high school, or the members' love lives. They were mostly confined to their parents' basements, or, if they were lucky, a relative's garage. For years, they never amounted to much of anything.
○ Zander, who was passionate about animals since his first cat, Beans, decided to become a Vet, and enrolled in college. Most of the bandmates went their own way in school, and met up on the weekends for practice. It wasn't until recently that their life was forever changed. After some persuading, harassing, and even outright stalking, Zander and the boys were able to land a gig at a local bar. The bar wasn't all that great or well known, but it just so happened that a semi-famous musician was there that night. When Torment played, the musician was impressed. Impressed enough to help them get their foot in the door.
○ Two months later, Torment was signed for a record deal, with the musician acting as their manager. And four months after that, their first single was released. Since then? Everything's been golden.
