A content look crossed his face; apparently Phi liked escaping the 'real' world every once in a while, too. He was such a timid and shy soul Audrey genuinely wondered how he made due in New York City - it could get pretty rough sometimes. But looks could be deceiving and beyond that Princely exterior there was probably a warrior.
So, he was studying to be a scholar. Intrigued, Audrey raised an eyebrow, "I had figured out the reading and writing part but a scholar, wow." She stated. clearly impressed and digesting the newly acquired information," So how many masters and doctorates do you have?" She teased lightly, definitely not being serious. Learning about his passion and intelligence only made her respect for the man to grow. Audrey gave him a lot of credit, being a scholar was definitely not for the faint of heart.
Hearing the question was repeated back, Audrey answered without hesitation, "I'm at Princeton studying Psychology." Audrey confessed, her voice proud but not obnoxious or boasting. Education was something that Audrey took very seriously and she was blessed and proud that she was able to attend such a university.
Phi shot another question her way; apparently he was curious, too. "Hmmm... book series." Audrey pondered for a second. That was a tough one; Audrey liked many books but it was difficult for her to pick a favourite series. Her eyes fluttered over to Phi , gazing up from the tea she had been thoughtfully staring it.
"At the moment, Lord of the Rings." Audrey answered with a smile, "Can I guess your favourite book?- Journey to the Center of the Universe?"
Okay, so it was a guess purely based on his actions and reactions back in the library, but Audrey stuck by it. It was an informed and educated guess and there seemed no harm in asking.

Looking at the cup he thought about showing the Audery what he had planned, but would she like it? Or would she even just laugh at him? Hopefully not because Phi is someone to wear his heart on his sleeve and if she were to ruin all hope he had in his story he would just give up. Reaching for the crinkled paper in his pocket and showed three bits of paper. One was a drawing of himself (rather a rough sketch), one with a basic intro to the story and the other being ideas on what to write, circled on that piece was a sentence saying; 'how people perceived hero’s.'
“What do you think?” Taking the last sip of coffee out of his cup he squished it out of anxiety. His future of this novel rested in her small hands. Looking down at the table he sighed and said, “I know its not good but I have put so much time and effort into it.” He leant forward with his head resting the table, obvious signs of stress were showing as he was awaiting judgement. With her arms folded and already resting on the table, her body was pitched forward already quite a bit. When Phi leaned forward, it quickly closed the distance that was separating them. Surprised and flustered slightly by their proximity, Audrey backed away the tiniest bit.
But the moment seemed to pass as quickly as it came. Phi leaned back in his seat and took another sip of his coffee while explaining that Journey to the Centre of the Universe was actually a project of his - something that he was writing. Audrey's eyes lit up in surprise and admiration; she gave him a lot of credit for writing for she knew how difficult it could be. And as if on cue, Phi's hand began rummaging through his pocket until he pulled out three rather crinkled pieces of paper.
He handed said pieces of paper with some hesitation but Audrey took them confidently. Her eyes had only lightly skimmed the picture's surface when Phi asked for her opinion. Taking a second, Audrey spread out the three sheets before her and eyed them all carefully.
The picture caught her attention first. It was a rough sketch, no doubt, but still quite good. It was a picture of Phi. A small smile appeared on Audrey's lips as she looked up from the portrait and see its likeness to the man, "It's really good." Audrey complimented sincerely. Even though there were pencil and eraser marks all of the page, it was definitely Phi. He was able to capture that gleam in his eye and the slight pout on his thin lips and Audrey was sure if he wasn't going to be an author, he could be an artist.
Audrey looked at the next two pieces almost simultaneously. One was the basic plot and introduction to the story and the other seemed to be related to 'how people perceive heroes'. Taking it all in, Audrey read each sentence carefully. Despite being rough notes, it was clear that Phi was very passionate about this project. His ideas were thoughtful and writing style extremely captivating. As she looked at the papers, Audrey noticed Phi's almost text-book penmanship. He seemed to jump between cursive and printing throughout the work, not doubt when he was rushing or not, but regardless, it was lovely. Small, controlled and only the slightest bit loopy; Audrey recalled not even her elementary school teachers having such nice print.
Being a psychology student, Audrey inwardly snickered. Based on their brief encounter and from studying his penmanship, her first impression was definitely correct. Intelligent, gentle, diligent and controlled; follows instructions and directions with ease but does like to put his own little spin on his projects.
As Audrey mulled over both his work and his penmanship, she noticed out of the corner of her eye Phi began leaning forward again. Removing her gaze from the papers and drawing her eyes up to meet his, Audrey nodded her head in reassurance. Phi's forehead was creased slightly and the nervousness he was feeling was shown in his eyes. He rested his head on the table, as if the position would help calm his nerves.
"It's great." She complimented, "Captivating and original. You'll have no problem finishing it."
That much Audrey was almost willing to bet money on. The amount of effort Phi put into Journey to the Centre of the Universe was evident even though she had only seen three papers. He was going to be successful, now all he seemed to need was a little confidence.

Why was she so nice to him? Was it possible that they were developing a friendship? Unlikely due to the fact Phi didn't make many friends, even through primary school and senior he never had many friends. Only a handful and all those friends went to different University. He had been thinking about making friends everyday however his work came first and if she knew this Audery would most likely just walk away from what ever connection he was forming with her. He smiled again and stood up reaching for her hand to help her escort her up. It was the least he could do considering she had done so much for him already.
“Thank you for everything you have helped me with today Audery and I am in debut to your kindness. If you ever need anything from me just give me a buzz.” Taking out another crumbled piece of paper Phi also got a blue pen out. Writing his full name on the paper in a rather fancy cursive writing he finally reviled his full name. 'Phi Ceryx' and below it was a number, '047-4215-222'. He smiled and said in a quiet voice while picking up his work. “I have to go for the day, hopefully we meet again.” Walking out he leaved a trail of grace behind him, walking out the doors he went to go back home and write in his journal about the day and Phi was going to go start his second stage drafting.[/style][style=margin-top: 3px; border-top: 1px dashed blue; text-align: center; font-size: 8px]made by gimmick/echo of OtE and TB[/style] |

Taking their final sips at almost the exact same time, Phi had beat Audrey by the slightest margin and gracefully slid out from the bench and came around to her side of the table. Offering her a hand to help her up, Audrey accepted with a small smile and a polite nod.
Chivalry's not dead. Audrey commented idly to herself about the gesture.
Standing next to each other for a moment, Phi thanked her yet again. Feeling slightly overwhelmed by all the praise, she dipped her head again. He really was too modest and sweet.
"No need to thank me, Phi. It was no problem." Audrey confessed honestly, her blue eyes sparkling as she took the paper from his outstretched hand. Her eyes darted down to the page for a moment, taking in the personal information that was written in his fine hand.
Phi Cerynx
An uncommon and captivating name, just like the person it belonged to. Despite her usual detachment, Audrey felt oddly compelled by and acquainted with Phi. Usually when these instances arise, Audrey would politely take the name and number, store it in her purse and pull the paper out only to throw it into the recycling bin. But this time was different. With her blue, knowing eyes especially bright, she tucked the crumbled piece of paper away knowing that she would contact Mr. Ceryx in the near future.
"Talk to you soon." Audrey said, meaning every word that she spoke.
She watched him turn on his heel and head out the door for a moment, admiring the grace that trailed behind him. With black hair swishing gently from side-to-side Audrey was almost certain that he could be one of the elven race - he certainly had the aesthetic and intelligence!
