Spirit or air, perhaps?

○ Apathetic. That word alone best describes Kale. Being fully capable of keeping his emotions in check, he is a difficult one to read by look alone since he hides himself behind a wall of perpetual calmness that rarely, if ever, falters. Save for the times when he finds himself annoyed, of course, then he is quite quick to show it if only to make those annoyances leave him alone. Fully aware that his attitude makes him seem cold-hearted in the eyes of others, Kale doesn’t mind and acts accordingly, not caring how the public views him. In his own mind, if he can garner any kind of attention, he’d much rather get the negative kind if only to fuel his rebellious side and annoy his parents. In all honestly though, the teenager is far from cruel and will help out others in need if he is physically the only person there that can or if the person in need happens to be a child. His first priority may be himself, but he isn’t heartless.
○ Obviously, Kale is far from a people-person, even if he can be quite trustworthy. Although not incapable of manners, he is likely to speak with a mixture of sarcasm and rudeness as it comes natural to him. Along with that, he also speaks with blunt honesty, unafraid of whatever consequence his words may bring. Confident to a fault, he is fairly certain that he can get himself out of anything, regardless of the situation and is too stubborn and proud to think differently. Yet despite that, Kale rarely ever talks too much about himself, keeping a fine line between him and others, being careful not to let them too close. That of which, is the reason why he has very few close relationships with people.
○ Give him a choice and he’d much rather choose the company of a good book over an actual human being. Perhaps due to his parent’s high standards, Kale is not only studious but an avid reader too, spending much of his free time with his head in the books. Possessing a wide array of knowledge, he is quite intelligent and perceptive, being able to pick up on things that others might have missed and excels in all of his classes, something of which his parents are quite proud of. One of the few things, actually.
○ When it comes down to it, Kale is independent. Like a lone wolf, he likes to do what he does without the assistance of anyone else. After all, if he can do something right, why ask someone else who could possibly perform the same task wrong? Then again, relying on others has never been one of his strong suits. Unwilling to push his pride aside, Kale finds it troublesome to ask for another’s help, even when logically, he knows that he needs it. Even to his friends—the few of them—he rarely asks for their help. Although he can be quite the trustworthy person for those who deserve it, he isn’t very likely to trust others at all. Given his high status, he is aware that it is practically a dog eat dog world, so why on earth would he put his trust in someone else?

○ Ever since the birth of Kale August Winchester, his entire life has always been one bound for greatness. Born from a relationship between a pair of renowned doctors, Ethan and Abigail Winchester had planned out his life before he was even born. Knowing fairly well that they wanted nothing but the best for their son—so that he could one day become like them—they made sure that Kale always got what he deserved. That was, in short, nothing short of excellence.[/blockquote]
○ So when the day came that little Kale could walk and talk, his parents immediately thrust him into the world without so much as a warning. Too young, too naïve to understand the world around him, he merely went along with it, adapting to his life under the constant supervision of his tutors. Oh, and of course, the studies that followed. And he did his best to excel at it all too because he wanted nothing more than to make his parents proud. He was, after all, the prized son of a wealthy family. So he played his role and he played it well, gaining praise among his peers and teachers, but he rarely got the recognition that he deserved. Not from the people that mattered, at least.
○ With lives too preoccupied by their jobs, his parents never had much time to spend with Kale. Sure, they were there to eat at the dinner table and check on his progress, but beyond that, they barely noticed him. Any other time they spent with him was usually cut short either by an emergency at the hospital or because they only wanted to show him off like a trophy to their friends and associates at social gatherings. One that immediately stood forgotten as the conversation continued on. So growing tired of his failed attempts at gaining their praise and time, Kale began to act out with the sole thought of ruining their ‘perfect’ image. And being only eleven at the time, his first act involved dyeing his hair purple.
○ Outraged upon seeing the sudden change, Kale received the first of many angry lectures on why he shouldn’t behave as he should. That he was soiling their reputation. That it was unreasonable for him to act the way he did. And yet, as they berated him with one reason after the next, with their disappointment and anger, Kale merely listened; numb to their words—he didn’t care anymore. In fact, the spontaneous change in his hair colour—his first act of defiance—simply felt right to him. As if everything he had done up until that point was nothing more than a lie that his parent’s tried to create for their so-called ‘perfect’ life. So he kept his hair the same as a statement and continued being the new Kale.
○ Although he still remained focused on his studies—so that his parent’s wouldn’t completely cut him off—he stopped being the perfect son. No longer well-mannered and acting to please his parent’s agenda, Kale began to live his life for himself and no one else. After all, it was his life, so he would simply do as he pleased.
