Marcus graduated from NYU with a degree in psychology. He signed in with the NYPD before becoming a detective. He usually works on homicide cases but on occasion (more often than not) he works undercover for various departments. living situation. Marcus is currently living in a standard size central Manhattan apartment. It has a large sized living room overlooking the island; the living room has modern styled furniture making it up and a decent flat screen and home theater as well. The room also contains gym equipment in the corner of the room facing the window. A decently sized kitchen adjacent to it with a counter top separates them apart and acting as a dining table. It has a bedroom that is moderately sized with a double bed, built-in wardrobe and a desk and chair used for his work. It is finished off with a bathroom that contains a shower and bath, having a separate toilet room. The apartment contains a very modern style, with a variety of metallic contrast accessories and furniture with darker finish in the living area and a wooden floor covering the entire area except the bedroom. The walls contain his various qualifications and various skyline pictures of various cities around the world.

His features are very distinct, whether it being his defined jaw-line, slender nose completing his angular face and obsidian, emotionless eyes. His raven-black hair completes the look, framing his face with numerous bangs hanging over his face. His hair usually looks like a bed head, but when brush out it usually hangs straight with a few ends sticking up defiantly. He face is usually emotionless unless otherwise portraying a role that is required in context. Despite his dulled look his eyes are quick to light up and pay attention to the world around him and he can quickly crack charming grin when required. ○ Unlike the stereotypical donut munching, overweight police or out of shape, chimney smoking detectives that NYPD is famous for. Marcus is quite healthy and athletic, thanks to his baseball and basketball days in high school. Though he enjoys a donut every now and then he makes sure to gym it out every morning in his home. As a result from his current lifestyle he possesses a 5 foot 11 inches, lean, muscular body. He also knows basic karate and self-defense, which he learned at the academy. While he does have the knowledge he preferably uses his two Beretta. ○ Clothing has never really been an issue with Marcus, with him usually wearing a jeans and a shirt. He usually dresses practically for the job, allowing him to stay stylish yet practical as well. He does however always seem to wear a coat, mostly black or any other dark colour, over his clothing. As an undercover officer he wears anything that is required for him to infiltrate his target, whether it is a smart mafia styled suit or a rough looking biker get up.

○ Indifferent; He is always cool, calm and collected no matter the situation. Marcus possess a firm grip on his emotions, a trait he naturally possessed since his was young, which he further developed back in his acting days. It is his ability to think clearly and calmly, using cold logic rather than unstable emotion, that has gotten him out of pretty sticky situations while working undercover. He possess an unconcerned attitude, not being bothered by his surroundings and generally showing indifference to anything that affects him, with the exception that something stirs up his curious nature.

○ Curiosity; He is constantly curious about his surroundings, always seeking knowledge and answers about the world around him, most probably attributed to his high intellect. This trait is especially amplified when human nature and behavior is involved. He finds people in general curious especially how they interact with each other, enjoying finding out the motives behind people's actions and their true personality behind their lies and various masks they hide behind. He enjoys figuring out what makes a person tick, the motivation that drives them, the one behind the facade they portray to the outside world - ironic considering he himself hides his true nature. The secrets of people's hearts are the ultimate mystery, a challenge in which he strives to conquer. His curious nature can also sometimes get the best of him, becoming obsessive on a particular subject that interests him, losing sight of his surroundings. He became a detective for the challenge of searching for various truths, whether they are to find the criminal or his simple interest in the criminal's motives in general. It is also to appease his own curiosity and because criminals are individuals who hide their true nature the most from the rest of the world.

○ Cunning; Marcus is a master of deception and secrets. He is skilled in the art of lying, being able to lie with not so much as a bead of sweat, thanks in part to his indifference but also because of his own acting skills and charisma. It's not like he blatantly tells straight out lies, no that's not it. He is a maestro at manipulating the truth, shaping it to his own whim. This usually results in him telling believable half-truths, often the thing that people want to hear; a result he is able to achieve due to his intellect and psychology knowledge. Marcus is also quite secretive, rarely talking about his past or too deeply about himself. He is the actor and the world his stage. Being able to change his persona to blend in and match those around him is an art form that he has mastered since a young age, thanks to his father's teachings and his own drama background. He is able to identify which roles are required for any given situation, accurately and convincingly fitting the role and adapting it where he sees fit, totally deceiving those around him. Marcus utilizes roles for his everyday life: the witty, cheerful and upbeat cop to his colleagues, the charismatic charmer to the women who approach him or the loyal, dependable friend who is always ready to give marriage advice, anything that's needed for him to fit into everyday society and allow him to be companionable. Everyday Marcus puts on another mask to the blissfully ignorant world showing them what they want to see while hiding his true self behind the veil. It's Marcus's cunning that allows him to work undercover effectively, being able to blend in with his targets without them being the wiser.

○ Intelligent; Marcus possess an incredible keen and intelligent mind, well you would have to considering the dangerous nature of his work. Even as a student Marcus was a top academic, being in the top 5 consistently and even a keen chess player every now and then. He possess a very tactical mind, able to adapt his way of thinking to problem solve very quickly should the situation require it. He also has good analytical skills, evidence in that he was promoted to a detective at the age of twenty-four. Still his most useful and dangerous skill is his perceptiveness especially that of human behavior patterns and is a good judge of character. He is knowledgeable about the inner workings of the human mind, possessing a degree in psychology, and he is able to use that knowledge to his advantage by reading those around him, picking up on what they are thinking and able to react appropriately to their reactions.

○ Superiority complex; Due to his naturally high intellect Marcus possess a slight superiority complex. He does not see himself superior to others (well maybe a little), but more along the lines that he looks down on them. This stems from the fact that nobody can see the his true self, how easily they fall for his various facades and cool acting ability. Despite looking down on those around him, he does hope one somebody will be able to rise to the challenge, to discover the man behind the mask, somebody who he can call his equal.

○ Tough; One thing Marcus despises is that of weakness, especially that of his own. He never shows any weakness, relying on his own strength instead of those of others. He can be surprisingly proud and stubborn in acknowledging the fact that he needs help, even if that help can get him out of a tough spot, opting rather to duke it out himself.

○ Compassionate; Despite his own superiority complex and cunning, at heart Marcus he actually pretty kind, something that surprises him quite often. He is not above helping those that are genuinely in trouble and in some cases he can genuinely be friendly and polite to people. He distastes those who enjoy picking on the weak, coming to the rescue if needs be. Recently his been wondering if, that on some unconsciously levels the reason he became a detective was not just because of his own curiosity, but also because he wants to protect those that cannot protect themselves.

h i s t o r y .

○ He was born into a loving upper class family. His mother was a loving house wife, while his father was an aspiring politician. Everyone had their roles to play in the family, with Marcus playing the caring son who aspired to be like his father. For most of his childhood he admired his father, he was the ideal man - successful, charismatic and most important loyal. Yes he wished to become a man just like his dad. Growing up his father knew how to manipulate people; he knew which roles to play, deceiving those around him and giving them what they wanted to see. He taught Marcus how to mask his own intentions and reflect those that people wish to see, how to put on a mask that is socially acceptable, to be able to win the trust and love of those around him. Intelligence and his natural charisma allowed him to manipulate what others perceived of him and to be accepted by others.

○As he entered middle school he joined the drama club to further enhance the effectiveness of his act to the world. By the time he entered high school he already learnt to portray many roles; the top academic student, the popular student president and heroic sportsman. He was loved by many, all fooled Marcus' manipulation. He had high class friends, a spotless academy record, loved by the teachers and staff, and always had the most popular girl in school as a girlfriend. High school was just a training ground, a stepping stone for him to follow his father's footsteps into politics. The preparations were already done and all that now followed was to graduate and enter law school.

○However during his final year his family was hit by a scandal. He father was caught in an affair with a prostitute during a campaign away from home. The political ramifications were massive, with his father losing his political standing nearly over night and the tabloids smelling blood in the water. His father was forced into early retirement and his marriage destroyed as his wife divorced him. Marcus' role model was but a shell of his former self, everything he did an act even to his own family. It was then that Marcus' view point in life changed. He resolved that he would never be deceived like that again, he would uncover those that hid their intentions from the rest of the world. Instead of going to law school he instead studied psychology at NYU, curious about human behavior and the mind, wanting to equip himself for future relations with other people.

○During the three years he studied he continued his a cunning performances but now not to manipulate anybody for a reason but just because he didn't know any other way. He made a few friends in university, once again joining the drama club to fit in order to fit in socially. After he graduated at age twenty one he immediately enrolled in the police academy, wanting to use his craft for a positive, and because during his studies he came across criminal psychology, a topic that fascinated him so. He passed the academy in a year joining the police force the following year. In his two years on the beat he made a few well known arrests, making various important contacts in the underworld and going undercover a few times. He eventually wrote the detective's exam with a recommendation and passed it on his first try, becoming one of the youngest detectives on the force at age twenty four. A year now as a detective, Marcus is about to enter his most dangerous case yet, going undercover into the organized crime underworld of New York.

This character is actually quite intriguing mainly for the fact that he's pretty sneaky for a police officer/detective. However, that would make him relatively valuable and it does pertain to his job anyways. It's quite funny that he hasn't completely grown out of his superiority complex, but I suppose he does have a reason to be if he's more intelligent than the average joe.
