So since this is the first even thread I will take it slow and step by step. So because this is an event thread you must sign up for it. In this event thread there are going to be THREE Characters. The first TWO Civilians to post on this this thread get a spot and the first ONE Claimed Person all get spots. It is first come first serve! DO NOT POST if the spots are filled, and do not post if your characters member group is filled! SCENARIO DATE ○ Saturday September Eighth TIME ○ Late at night, around eleven or twelve WEATHER ○ kind of chilly but a rather pretty night out. The moon casts a dull glow on everything. It is a rather cold september night when out of the small layer of frost that was beginning to form on the windshield of a passing car the first elemental has been released into modern day. The frost elemental is made out of pure ice, it stands at about six feet and is a sickly excuse for an elemental. A thin layer of frost covers anything it touches but it's attacks are unknown. It is rather clear that the elemental is ranked at a measly level 1. Emerging from the frost covered window the pathetic Ice Elemental quickly snaps the windshield in half and freezes the car to a stop. The well being of the driver is unknown but the car does stop right in front of a currently unoccupied construction lot. It quickly teeters towards the small metal structure leaving behind a thin trail of frost in its wake. TASK It is completely up to your character what happens in this event. This being said there are thee numbers you must choose from. In your post make a side note about what number you choose. You cannot pick a claimed number and the numbers are from 1 - 3. You will get a Pm from Fate about what this number means for your character. Be careful and remember it may be a rather weak elemental but it is still an elemental. Hint Hint, I suggest killing it now compared to later! [/div]

It September - and early for September for that matter.
“It shouldn’t be this cold.” Audrey muttered rather grumpily to herself as she tugged her grey cardigan sweater closed. She shook her head, expressing her annoyance. After all, wasn’t it August just last week? And August was considered one of the summer months. This was New York for crying out loud! It should be muggy, and humid and uncomfortable until October! As Audrey began to think about this, goosebumps began to form on her skin and not just because of the uncharacteristic temperature - something was amiss. She could feel it.
She mentally slapped herself - that’s what she got for roaming around the city aimlessly... er, maybe not aimlessly. Sure, Audrey had wanted to go for a walk but it seemed as if her legs had a mind of their own. Oh no, she couldn’t have go to Central Park like a normal person.
A black car whizzes by on the otherwise empty road and temporarily snaps Audrey out of her thoughts. Her blue eyes follow the car intently - it seemed like a decent enough car, but where was he going in such a hurry? Sure, it was Saturday night but he wasn't exactly headed downtown if he was zooming around here. As she watched the car something in the distance immediately caught her attention.
"What the f-" Audrey began as she stared at the.. think in the near distance. It was tall - about six feet - and literally glistened under the moonlight as if it were made of crystal.
Then, it moved. That's what caused her to stop mid-sentence.
With eyes wide like saucers, she began running toward the statue, her long hair flowing behind her. In all honesty, Audrey didn't know why she was running, it was like and instinct. But she stopped dead in her tracks when it hit the car - what appeared to be a crystal arm came down upon the windshield of the car and Audrey gapped in horror. The windshield is snapped effortlessly and there is a trail of frost behind the car.
Not crystal. Ice. Audrey thought to herself as she took in a deep breath to collect herself, Driver first, ice man second. She noted as she began to run again.
The car was just a few feet in front of her and she saw the man leaning back in his seat unmoving. Audrey's blood ran cold.
No. no. no. no. She thought as she closed the gap between herself and the vehicle, being careful not to slip on the icy floor.

She watched the small trail of mist that filtered from her mouth and curl up towards the night sky. It was unfair that her summer was being killed so quickly. The summer wasn't long enough already but the fact that she could already see her breathe was a bad sign. She tried to reminisce on the fun times she had this summer. She buttoned up her sweater with a soft smile on her face. She did have a great summer, even if the rest of her summer was colliding to what felt like an atomic winter.
Katie stood on the front steps of her condo entrance shivering ever so slightly. She tried not to let the weird weather dampen her good mood but she could already feel her smile fading. She didn't really know what time it was but she did know she was going to freeze t death if she kept waiting outside. She set off towards the road and made a right without thinking. She didn't really know where she was going but she was going to have to walk off the strange feeling she had clinging to her. She had woken up in a damp sweat yet again. She couldn't actually remember the last time she had a full night of sleep without waking up with her heart racing.
She couldn't really remember the past dream, the harder she thought about it the harder it was for her to recall what she had been dreaming so vividly about. She crossed her arms trying to hold in what little warmth she had left. There was no point trying to remember something that would never happen anyway. Katie decided that instead of spending her time getting mad about the reason she wasn't sleeping she might as well enjoy the scenery. The East End was somewhat boring actually. Sure, the night sky was twinkling softly with stars and the full moon was giving her more than enough light to see by but there wasn't anything of interest.
There were a couple businesses and factories but she didn't give them a second glance. She pulled her hair up into a pony tail while she walked, it seemed she might as well make use of her time and go for a run. She started at a soft pace but was still fast enough to keep her heart rate up. She was pretty sure her heart was going to burst by the time she started to head farther east where the buildings were more and more scattered. It was when she saw a pair of headlights pull into a construction site that she noticed something was wrong. The headlights quickly went out with a small faint smash. Katie froze to a halt, her chest thumping louder that her ears were starting to ring. She set off at a sprint towards the car, she saw something glisten just beyond the car but didn't really think anything of it. She had to see if the person was okay before she played detective.

Definitely cold. Positively freezing, maybe. And her jacket was just begging to be thrown around and torn up into a million little pieces, since it was infuriating the little blond girl wearing it. But she wasn’t that strong, and not to mention she was probably going to be so much colder without it than with it. It was worthless for now, seeing as when she had gone out this morning she did not expect to be out so late and for it to be so cold. Which made one wonder, why was she out at this time of night? Especially since she wasn’t even in her neighborhood at that point. But it wasn’t like she was going to get lost, was she? No, she knew the general direction of her home, and she would just scrounge around in that direction if she needed to go back to the West End. The wandering about without real cause was not the best way to go about things, not to her knowledge. But today she had submitted to it. And look where it got her. Unable to make real sense of anything in this district (it didn’t look Uptown, as she frequented there on weekdays, and it was certainly not the West End, as she had lived there her whole life, so it must be the East End), Joze had just wandered. And now, looking, she found that she had better head back home, to the warmth and comfort that the chilling breeze was not offering to her. Thanks a lot for your help. Not.
Well, at least it was working a little bit. She hugged it towards her chest, in an attempt to get even warmer. Her attempts were still met with no avail. No nice feeling of warmth. Nothing. She headed her way home. But, did she want to go home? Joze had to think about that. It had been a long time since she had some time to just relax. Not sleep, just chill. It was Saturday, and although Saturday and Sunday, the weekends, were reserved for sleep time, she didn’t feel tired, or anything of the sort. Just cold. Very cold. Which was a bit weird, now that she thought about it. It was the eighth, wasn’t it? Of September. September! But, why in the world would it be freezing cold on September? Joze couldn’t wrap her mind around it. She was sure that this month, the ninth month of the year, was supposed to be pretty warm. So, why was she shivering right now? And, was it this cold yesterday? And the day before? This morning, even. She couldn’t remember the weather. Which was a little pitying. Was she losing her memory? No, she couldn’t be. She was too young to be losing her memory. She was only sixteen, for god’s sake! Besides, it probably wasn’t this cold in the morning. No, her jacket explained most of that.
Well, she sure wasn’t observant, that was. Perhaps it was because of her focus. More times than none, she found she wasn’t very aware of her surrounding when concentrating. Honestly, focus and observant were both good qualities she possessed, but they never worked well together for her. For some reason. Sure, it could be used at the same time (for some talented people) but for Joze, she found that observing things made her mind come up with all sorts of different ideas and it was just a huge muck of a mess in a different reality then her own. And, well, it didn’t help her focus all that much if her mind was preoccupied by something else, right? There were people, she knew, that could use these skills at the same time, but for Joze, it was just too much trouble to bother with. Besides, she was perfectly content with just focusing, because if she didn’t and started observing, it would be crap for her family and herself.
Taking steps back home was proving difficult for her. So she walked. Veerrrry slowly. Not wanting to go home yet. In the glowing illumination of the moon she found that the night was enjoyable, even with the freezing temperatures. About that – it wasn’t really that cold, in reality. It was just that, well, Joze didn’t have much of a tolerance for cold. Still shivering, wisps of her breath in the air, she continued to walk. And then stopped short. There was a trail of… frost. Sure, it was cold, but it couldn’t be that cold. Honestly, she knew that much. She looked down the street, finding a car. It looked a little broken up, and the windshield was too far gone to save. Where was the driver? She ran towards it. As she got closer, she found a person – somebody! What the heck were they doing? A car with a broken windshield. And he was on the road, going towards the construction site. Coming even closer, she found the guy, the person, unmoving. Still. Unconscious? No…. Dead? Not possible. Nothing could have caused that… there were no other cars, and if there had been there would have at least been some evidence of a crash, like the crushed metal of the car. But not, there was only a broken windshield. And the car was moving. Closer and closer to the construction site. “Someone – it’s going to crash!” _______________

The frost elemental seethed in pain for a moment. He was weak and he knew it. He shuddered slightly against a steel beam that was planted into the ground. It was only a matter of seconds before a thin layer of frost had coated the beam. The frost elemental clasped his crystal like hands together cause small icicles to start to form where his hands met. His head sharply turned to where he felt three sources of warmth approaching. It seemed like nature had given him three little gifts as it was clear they were pretty oblivious to his presence. He inhaled deeply before facing the automotive that he had left. three small snacks were exactly what the elemental needed at the moment. He slowly started to breathe out releasing freezing air that grouped together in a dense fog. Sure, the frost elemental was hungry, tired and most of all weak but to get stronger he would have to play it smart. He watched with what was a sad excuse for a smile as his lips were completely covered in ice. Honestly he might have been a human once but he couldn't really remember. All he knew was the cold had accepted him and now he was going to feed the cold. He snapped off a small icicle that had formed on what he called hands. Even after the icicle had snapped off of his hand it continued to grow larger as he held it. He slowly brought it up inspecting the strong point, it would probably penetrate flesh but not bone. He sighed, after he was satisfied with the small snack he was sure he would be ready to slice through a skull. He threw the small icicle towards the general direction of where he had felt their body heat coming from. He exhaled another small breeze of crisp fog as he heard a small metal clang. He had missed and alerted the three humans that something was trying to hunt them. He chuckled softly, it sounded so inhuman, almost like he had eaton razor blades. He quickly pulled out another icicle. It continued to grow in his hand. They would provide him with enough power to not be so pitiful, he had to feed the cold or the cold would feed off of him. He knew it would, he had too keep the cold happy. Cold is happy, happy is cold. If anything The elemental was doing the humans a favor, they should be pleased they would die satisfying the frost elemental. [/div]

Even though her heart was beating frantically, she focused on the task at hand, her eyes never leaving the figure in the car. No one was going to die on her. She stopped when she reached the side of the car and peered into the driver's side window - the sight caused Audrey's breath to catch in her throat.
The driver was a young man, looking not much older than herself. His eyes were closed and if she had not witnessed the accident, she would have thought him to be sleeping. His head was leaning on the window frame and his body seemed completely limp - it looked like a position of relaxation, not terror.
But that it not what frightened the young woman.
She heard the sound of ice shattering against the frame of the car and Audrey instinctually flinched. Grrreeeeat, now she was on a rescue mission and being shot at. Audrey shivered as she tried to ignore what ever was happening outside of the car - even if it did involve a fury-filled attack involving rather large icicles.
Her eyes darted to a small, glistening spot on the man's hand. Again, it looked like ice. She narrowed her eyes suspiciously - or maybe it was glass. That would make more sense, after all, the car's windshield had just been smashed. There was a rather high likelihood that some of the shattered plexiglass would have gone flying into the car.
Audrey quickly scanned the rest of the car's interior - the plush leather seats and faux wooden side paneling. Her eyebrows furrowed together as she completed her search There was no other sign of glass in the car. That's when her blood ran cold. Frantically, Audrey ran to the front of the car and climbed onto the hood to get an unobscured look at what exactly was happening.
The small, glistening fleck on the man's hand began to spread and grow. It honestly looked like something off the discovery channel - like when they speed up the clips of caterpillars wrapping themselves in a cocoon. The thick, shiny material was beginning to consume the man. With wide eyes Audrey stared for a moment longer - he was going to become a human crystal!
Sliding across the cool hood of the car, Audrey carefully slipped into the passenger seat, entering the vehicle where the windshield was secured in place just moments ago. Audrey's eyes never left the man as she shuffled in the leather seat, trying to make herself more comfortable as she faced him. Thinking quick on her feet, she quickly stripped away her cashmere cardigan sweater, leaving her in just a white tank top and dark washed jeans. Despite the fact that the young man was being crystalized, she noticed the faint rise and fall of his chest.
"Don't die, don't die, don't die." Audrey chanted quietly as she frantically wrapped the sweater around the man's shoulders.
As she draped the sweater across his chest, she noticed the coldness emanating off him. Her eyes widened in terror and realization - he was alive now, but not for very much longer.
A shiver ran through her spine as she sat and watched the ice forming around the man, "Don't die. Don't die. Don't die." Audrey repeated as she shimmied closer to the stranger, attempting to keep him warm by sharing her body heat.
Laying next to the rigid man, Audrey shivered, though noticed that the spreading of the ice had slowed. Thanking God for the extra time, she fished around in the pocket of her jeans and pulled out her Blackberry. With ease, her fingers danced across the keyboard, dialing those three critical numbers. She held the phone up to her ear for what felt like hours but never had the pleasure of hearing a dial tone.
No reception.
"Shit." Audrey spat as she tossed her phone into the passenger seat where she was sitting just moments before. Here she was, spooning a complete stranger while he was practically freezing to death. This would get her no where.
She wiggled her left arm and snaked it under the man's torso, holding him securely in her arms over her soft cardigan. With a notable effort, she began to tug and heave in an effort to have them both sitting up - a difficult task when cuddling with dead weight, though Audrey definitely wasn't chilly anymore. She had at least gotten her blood flowing by heaving themselves up.
Taking a moment to composure herself, she then stood up suddenly and with the forward momentum was able to fling both bodies out of the front of the car. At that moment Audrey knew that she exercised for a reason... but this thought quickly vanished from her mind as she and the man log rolled a short distance down the hood of the car and experienced temporary free fall before crashing on the floor with a notable 'thump'. At least he hadn't crushed her on impact.

She could see another women already trying to help, it appeared she was assessing the situation when Katie almost shat her pants. Out of no where there was the sound of something shattering, the sound made Katie jump as the soft glow of the moon was dulling the thud of her heart. She wasn't going to lie, she was scared, but she couldn't help thinking she had seen the car somewhere before. She didn't waste time on a stupid detail as she crouched down low not wanting to get between whatever was shooting at the car.
Her breath caught in her throat. It escaped in a puff of cold air that curled its way towards the night sky. The car wasn't the target!
Katie quickly bit back the feeling to run, if she wanted to run away she would have done so already. She should be coming up with a plan. Katie bit her lip trying to think what she should do, why was there no life course on how to deal with people wanting to kill you. For the second time in about four minutes Katie almost had a heart attack. She had been crouching near the passenger side of the car, away from whatever had tried to kill her. She heard the soft thump of a body hitting metal before hitting ground. Katie snapped her head towards the front of the car where she could see two pairs of feet.
Without thinking she reached out to grab the ankles of the people who had come tumbling out the car. Normally Katie wouldn't have been strong enough to pull the two bodies so effortlessly, the weight didn't stop her from quickly pulling them to the safety of the passenger side door. She took a deep breathe before she looked down at the two bodies. One of them was clearly the driver as he had a relaxed expression on his face and he appeared to be wrapped in some kind grey sweater.
She cringed slightly, she had heard another voice in the distance but was scared for the girl who had cried out. She wanted to peak out and check where she might be but for the first time she noticed that a dense fog was starting to cover the construction site. There was no way that it was natural as it seemed to roll over them quickly and effectively as it lingered once it engulfed them in it's treacherous blinding mass. She blinked a couple times before trying to wrap her head around what was happening.
There was an unconscious man covered in a grey sweat lying next to her along with a dark skinned women in a white tank top. There was another person who had seen the crash of the car that was unaccounted for and... she knew she should be thinking human but her mind was starting to wonder. There was no way it could be completely human, there is such a thing as a coincidence but too many in a row lead Katie to an odd conclusion. It wasn't completely human! the cold, the fog, even the bullet thing had come from the thing. Katie knew she was a little odd but this thing was way off. She had to kill it or other people would have to suffer from what it might do to them. She looked over at the dark skinned women who she had been ignoring.
"I'm Katie, nice to meet you.... We have to kill it!" She whispered ever so slightly. It was an odd introduction but it was the best she was going to get in these conditions. She just hoped the other girl was okay, and the man for that matter, he seemed really pale. It was then that Katie noticed his arm. There was a thin coat of ice that was slowly inching its way up his arm. She let out a small yelp as she pointed at the climbing ice. It reached out ever so slightly as if it were reaching to touch something else. It had reached the mans wrist and his skin color wasn't doing him any justice. He wouldn't last much longer. She didn't walk either. Joze was set at a jogging pace, wary of any signs of danger. It didn't look like the car had hit anything - was it some sort of weird causing that happened? No... clearly the window was the only thing that seemed damaged. And the guy. The man. The person driving the car. She'll be damned if he hadn't been injured. Besides - it didn't look as though he had been moving, otherwise he would be driving that car and it would have disappeared down the road some time ago. One good thing came about with this jogging - she was no longer cold anymore. Sure, she still had goosebumps on her sparsely covered arm, but it'll fade away soon, if she kept this pace up. The car, she had to get to the car. It looked as though a couple of people had rushed there - they looked at least her age, perhaps a little older. But she couldn't tell. Not right now. Not with this new fog. To be honestly, she could barely see a hundred feet in front of her. Shapes were visible, but then she just... well things just faded off in the distance.
She blamed this when she tripped and fell. It was embarrassing to say at the least, but she bit back a yell of surprise. There were people there, and she didn’t want to draw their attention to her – not yet at least. Even though her surprised sort of exclamation from before had already revealed her, they hadn’t come looking, and this thick fog seemed to make any chance of finding them, or them finding her, disappear. In fact, as she picked herself up, she almost missed the object to her right. A teardrop? No, don’t be silly, teardrops won’t be on the floor, dry. Tentatively, she picked it up. It was heavier then she thought, and at first she thought that it might’ve been a crystal someone had dropped. Only, someone who would have been holding on to it probably would have noticed something as heavy as this disappear. Joze would have, at least. And, it wasn’t shining, only a small glimmer. As she held it up to examine it even closer, she noticed it wasn’t anything she recognized. What was it? It drew in her attention. It was during this time that she noticed that she could hear some dialogue. It was a little far away, but it vaguely sounded like someone talking. No, it was definitely of someone talking. She couldn’t make out the words, but it sounded like they were close by.
“Anyone there!?” Her hand closed around the object, looking for them. But it was hard – the fog definitely not helping her at the least. Speaking of that – the sudden and quick fog seemed incredibly… coincidental. And, she could have sworn the car was there. She quickly ran towards it, but no avail. Her feet felt like lead and the stone object thing was heavy against her hand. And still, the circumstances between the car crash looked shady. Mysterious. And incredibly intriguing. This seemed like some movie, where bad things happen and miracles appear out of nowhere. And it seemed like this object had appeared out of nowhere. It confused Joze greatly – what business did she have about with this, anyways? She wasn’t supposed to be out right now, she should be at home, warm in her bed, but no, she was out here freezing her ass off and thinking about this stone she found that was probably nothing. No, she had better get home before anything bad happens. Run for her very life. If her life were in danger anyways. This was silly, but unusual. And then… a metallic clang.
It brought her back to her senses and she shivered. Half from the cold, and half from fear. It sounded like something hit the metal – and from the sounds of it, it was hit, hard. She froze in her spot. It seemed more logical just to go home. But she couldn’t resist now. It was so interesting, and she wasn’t about to leave people here. No, she had seen them and if she left them here for the person that threw the thing that crashed onto the metal, they would die, for sure. And maybe she would die in the process. No, she had to stop thinking negative. No one was going to die. Not here. She had to think rationally about this. She should probably move – she had called out and they should be able to pinpoint her location by it. She started to run to the opposite direction, but then turned back. Why not go somewhere they would least expect, right towards the car? It was probably easier, anyways, the car would be a good place to hide, and avoid any oncoming weaponry being thrown towards her, at least for some time. She looked at the teardrop on her hand. What was this… what could it do? If it was anything to help, anyways. It looked pretty sharp. But maybe not. [/style] |

-CLANG- The elemental grumbled softly. He could tell that there was something blocking his way, it wasn't the first time he had hit the metallic object. He guessed it was the car but he didn't want to assume anything. He threw yet another icicle that he had been shaping with his hands. This time he heard something shatter. He smiled slightly, it was the car he was hitting, the humans were on the other side of it probably cowering like sitting ducks. He was about to work his way to the other side of the car through the fog but something caught his attention. The first thing was that one of the bodies of heat behind the car was very faint, it wouldn't take much longer for death to claim the body. He couldn't help but smile like a maniac as he could almost feel his energy replenishing himself. His smile was quickly taken off of his face as he became aware of another heat source. This one felt different than the others. He had known there was another source not behind the metallic piece of junk but it was not as strong as before. He could almost taste the human aura from his distance. Something wasn't right about the other heat source. He was glad that he had caught it before it got to close. The heat sources aura wasn't as strong moments ago, something had changed that. His mind flicked through several possibilities of what could have caused the mere human to take on such a strong aura. The more he thought about it the harder it was to recall what might have done such a thing. He cursed to himself before pulling out another icicle. It didn't matter, the stupid human wouldn't be around much longer anyway. The icicle grew in size, the largest one so far. He knew it would probably wound a person, might not kill them but depended on where he hit. He pulled back the javelin sized chunk of ice, he breathed out a fresh batch of fog before lobbing the cold javelin towards the lone heat source. He wasn't sure if he would hit it but he was sure he would kill it rather soon, before it reached the others. He smiled as he started to make another javelin, he wasn't even going to wait to see if he had hit it. [/div]

As the stranger continued to approach, Audrey noticed for the first time that the rhythmic clinking of metal had stopped. Biting her bottom lip, Audrey cursed inwardly.
This is great. Really great... they stopped firing at the car and is charging at us.
In the near distance Audrey's ears picked up the sound of a voice - female, as far as she could tell.
'Help! was her first thought, then quickly realized that would completely give away their position and make the end come that much sooner. And did she really need to drag another innocent human being into this mess? Hopefully, they would turn away and run as fast as they could away from the cool, dense fog.
Accepting the situation and not having time to react, Audrey felt a warm pair of hands wrap around her angles and yank her forward, thus causing a small yelp of surprise to escape Audrey's lips. Her ankles were released a heartbeat later and Audrey hopped to her feet, leaving the man's side for the first time since entering his car.
Upon coming face-to-face with who Audrey initially believed to be the attacker, she couldn't suppress the feeling of surprise. This was no killer! It was a teenage girl. With bright purple hair and large, round eyes , Audrey knew that there was not a murderous bone in the girl's body. What surprised Audrey the most though was the girl's abruptness.
Wasting no time with idle pleasantries, the girl - whose name was Katie - introduced herself and announced her brilliant plan. Not.
Audrey's eyes shot up. Way up. Was this girl serious? You could hardly see two feet in front of you and Katie wanted to run around and slay the damn thing? Though Audrey shook her head ever so slightly, her face was straight and void of emotion.
"Audrey." She returned the brief introduction.
Okay, so the girl seemed nice enough but Audrey ignored her ill-concieved plan anyway. Yes - they were going to have to deal with it but there were more pressing matters at had. No need to chase the beast anyway - it was going to come after them & hunt them down. That's the way bad guys worked. So Audrey didn't really see any need to run into uncertain death.
Time was of the essence and like she thought, there were more pressing matters at hand. Audrey's blue, calculating gaze fluttered down to the unconscious man. The ice had begun to grow again and clearly Katie noticed too, for she let out a faint squeak.
Audrey's voice was firm. There was no changing her mind, "We can't leave him."
With a mix of adrenaline and fear coursing through her veins, Audrey's eyes narrowed as she tried to think of a plan...
One could almost see the lightbulb go off over her head as realization hit Audrey in a massive wave. Stepping straight into motion, Audrey dropped back to the floor, resuming her spooning position next to the man.
"Quick, on the other side of him." Audrey hissed, ordering Katie to hold the man like she was. Her eyes scanned over the man worriedly as the ice continued to spread.
Without waiting for Katie's response, Audrey spoke again, "Do you smoke?"
Though Katie looked far to young to participate in any such activity, Audrey had to ask. Desperate times called for desperate measures and this was most definitely a desperate time. Hopefully the purple-haired girl carried a lighter, or any flame-wielding device for that matter.
After about a two second pause, Audrey suddenly realized how bloody ridiculous and obscure her question would have seemed, she quickly clarified and justified the inquiry, " We need a light."

She seemed nice enough, Audrey was her name apparently. Before Katie could really take the time to fully introduce herself beyond her name she heard a rather loud clang. Something had hit the car again, this time she didn't even flinch. Her only real reaction was a sharp turn of her head towards the dense fog beyond the car. There was no way the fog was natural, especially not in September. Katie rubbed her hands together as she felt herself starting to get a little cold.
Audrey had taken Katie by surprise, she couldn't help but raise an eyebrow as she watched the respectful women start to spoon the unconscious man. She didn't really know how she should react to what she was seeing, she knew she should probably spoon on the other side of him but couldn't fight the feeling that these problems would go away if the THING was out of the picture. She bit her lower lip before lying next to the man being sure to only touch Audrey's white sweater. It was kind of odd feeling the cold radiate from the man.
Katie glared at the women as she asked if she had a lighter. She kind of wished she smoked as the lighter would come in handy right about now. Why did she have to be a pretty innocent teenager?! Why couldn't she be a pot head, the lighter would probably save their lives. Katie gently shook her head to Audrey. This poor man as probably going to freeze to death and that THING out there is probably laughing it's head off at how two girls are desperately spooning some guy. Katie rolled her eyes slightly.
"If we go after that... thing, I am almost positive all of these occurrences will go away." Katie whispered. They were sitting ducks if they just waited around to be killed. They would have to act sooner rather than later. She just wished the other person was safe behind the car. With three people it would be easier to make some kind of action plan. [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=style, width: 450px; padding: 10px; background-color: #333333, bTable] JUST FOR THE RECORD, THE WEATHER TODAY IS SLIGHTLY SARCASTIC WITH A GOOD CHANCE OF A. INDIFFERENCE OR B. DISINTEREST IN WHAT THE CRITICS SAY. IT'S TIME FOR US TO TAKE A CHANCE IT'S TIME FOR US. WELL WE'RE JUST A WET DREAM FOR A WEBZINE MAKE US IT MAKE US HIP MAKE US SCENE | [atrb=padding-top: 20px;] From a distance, Joze could only make out a couple of shapes – slightly moving but not that much. But she was wary, cautious of them. Although they were probably in the same predicament as her, it was better to stay safe than be sorry. Or so, Joze had always said to herself. But at the moment of danger, it would be safe to flee. Yet she had proven more than once that she wasn’t being safe, and the mere fact of being here was unsafe. And yet she was cautious of a silly little thing like approaching a couple of potential helpers? It didn’t make sense. But then again, things happening today didn’t make any sense. She was doing uncharacteristic things, and the worst part was that she didn’t mind it one bit. The tiny teardrop gave her a bit of solace, but for whatever reason, she had no idea why. But she gripped it tighter, and comfort flooded her system. She would be alright. It was foggy – the evil villain couldn’t possibly see her, unless of course they had infrared vision. Which, she couldn’t rule out. Or maybe this was the supernatural they were dealing with, and that would mean that Joze and any other in the area might just be in some bigger trouble than what they were expecting. But even if the notion was possible – which it was definitely not – wouldn’t they be dead now – if it wanted them dead? Or was it just a horrible shot?
For the safety’s sake (there she went with being safe, again), she was going to assume it was the latter. There could be a potential murderer on the loose. And they just happened to wander upon its territory. A shiver – a shiver of fear – ran through her at the thought of it. Was there really a murderer in their midst? Was she really going to die? There were just so many things she wanted to do. She wanted to grow up – get a decent job, get married, have kids. Fall in love, fall out of love, and fall back into it. And, well, she wanted to reconcile with her estranged brother, as much as that was unlikely. Joze wanted to say goodbye to her family. And she did not want it to end like this. No, what was she thinking? It wwouldn’t end up like this. It never would have. No one was going to die. She had said so herself, just mere minutes ago. So why should she be having doubts now? Just because she was letting her imagination get a little, well, over-reactive and carried away, it didn’t mean it was true. The metallic clang that she herself had been so sure to be a weapon; it could have been anything, really. Something hard hitting some metal, that’s all. Nothing to overreact about. Nothing at all.
Or so she told herself repeatedly. But the sinking feeling in her stomach gave everything away, her intuition getting the best of her. It might not be a murderer, but there was something out there, something unaccounted for and dark. Dangerous. Utterly scary. Something that could very well be the death of her, if she didn’t think and act carefully. Nothing on impulse. She needed to rely on her brains – or at least what knowledge her brain had stored these sixteen years. There was always the coward’s way out, running away. But, well, she would have done that some time ago if she wanted to be a coward. No, that would not be an option. She had to think of something else.
Then Joze squealed. Loudly. Revealing where she was. But it didn’t matter anymore – they already knew where she was. Hence the reason she squealed. She was eying the thing suspiciously. But she was scared, so very scared. She felt herself breaking out to a sweat, heart pounding, terrified. Was that… an icicle? It flew straight past her, narrowly missing her by mere inches. It seemed to have packed a lot of force, because it flew straight to the building behind her and was lodged into a part of it. “Damn it… I need shelter…” Something to block these attacks. That was weird – she could have sworn that it was aiming for something else mere minutes ago. What had attracted its attention? Was it this weird teardrop thing? She removed from her pocket and uncurled her hand. It looked perfectly harmless – perfectly normal. Like a knick-knack. But why was she so curious about it, why had she picked it up? |

He hurled yet another icicle javelin towards the human. He waited for a moment as he held his breath. He released his breath in a puff of white fog. He had missed yet again. He could still sense her aura flaring up, he had clearly missed.
He quickly started to form yet another javelin. As he held the long pointed ice in his hand he thought of what he would do about the human. The stupid human was by itself, but yet he was too far away to do it any real harm. He smiled evilly as he took a slow small step forward. He glanced behind himself and noticed the thick patch of frost he left behind. Clearly a bad sign, he would have to take their energy sooner rather than later. With that thought he was off.
He started to walk towards the strong aura without a second thought. It was only when the dark shape of the crashed metallic car came into view that he noticed that the human in the distance wasn't the only one with a strong aura. He hadn't noticed this human as the human's aura was kind of faint but the pure aura was all he needed to see.
He cursed to himself before analyzing his options. He knew he was a sitting duck, he was clearly standing between both the group of humans, and the blazing aura. He had a choice. Would he go after the strong aura who was all alone waiting to be killed or the group of humans who showed potential of being part of a kingdom. He weighed his options for a second before flinging his javelin towards the group of humans behind the car. He would get to them in a second. With that he started to form yet another javelin and set off to the human who was all alone. It wouldn't take long for the mere human to be on ice. He had no idea if the javelin he had thrown at the group even hit them. No more throwing, he was going to kill them as they watched. |

The more time passed, the more frustrated Audrey became. What exactly was lying on the icy floor next to a frigid, unconscious man going to accomplish? Time was of the essence and every second that passed was a second too long. She tried to rack her brain for a plan but came up short - as usual, Audrey was right, at least in her judge of character. Katie was definitely not a smoker.
Before Audrey could construct another plan, Katie spoke up, again bringing up going after that thing.
Audrey mulled that thought over in her mind. Ever sensible, rational and reasonable bone in her body screamed in their aversion to the idea. They had no idea what they were up against! What were the two of them going to do exactly - run up to him with guns a blazin'? Though deep down inside, Audrey could not protest too much, after all, what other choice did they have? They were clearly not mastering the art of fire any time soon and cuddling for body heat would only prolong the inevitable.
As if Audrey needed any more motivation to get up and moving, something hit the car, shattering with a cloud crash. The young woman nearly jumped out of her skin - the sound was close... whatever was thrown had barely hit the front headlight and shattered into a million, sparkling little pieces upon impact. Their attackers aim was rapidly improving. They had to move.
"This had better work." Audrey hissed as she rolled over onto her back before quickly curling up so she was on her feet, her body curled as she hunched over. Worry suddenly came over her - she didn't want to leave the man.
A sharp, loud squeal cut through the air, breaking Audrey of her thoughts and roping back in her attention. The stranger in the distance had definitely not turned and high-tailed it out of the area. Wonderful - another potential victim.
Feeling like a mother bear protecting her cubs, Audrey now felt responsible for three others' safety - the unconscious man, Katie and the shrieking stranger. This was definitely not what she had planned to do on her Saturday night.
Despite the fact that it was difficult to see through the dense fog, Audrey's eyes shifted back to Katie, resuming their calculated glance. She studied the girl's figure - she looked fit enough and definitely seemed lean and nimble. After all, she was able to pull herself and the man out from under the car.
Rationality no longer an option, Audrey tried her best to avoid being too rash. She grimaced as she came up with her second, and definitely less strategic plan.
"I'm going to run out there - we're not the only one's here." Audrey stated the obvious, her voice calm and calculated, "I'm going to distract it and try and find our other friend. I hope you have some idea as to how to attack that thing."
She murmured the last part, still disbelieving what she was even saying. Well, it was now or never. She took in a shaky breath and began to transfer her body weight forward like a predator that was about to pounce on their prey.

She glanced at Audrey who had gotten up at this point. Katie couldn't help but cringe slightly. In order to actually kill that thing they would have to leave the safety of the car. he couldn't help but want to stay cuddling with the slowly dying man. She couldn't help but want to live. Saying that they had to fight it and actually doing it were two different things. Katie shut her eyes tightly and counted to three in her head. She had to get a grip on herself.
Katie slowly rose to her feet. She couldn't help but feel a little shaky as she did so. She heard the distant shriek and couldn't help but cringe. That other girl was in danger. That was all it took, with that Katie opened her eyes and started to walk rather determined towards the direction of the sound. Her walk was more of a strut as she had some majorly fake confidence pulsing through her veins at the moment. She was pretty sure she would be back to terrified Katie in a couple moments but it didn't matter. She glanced over to Audrey who appeared to have some of her own confidence.
Looking at Audrey made Katie smile slightly. The women was putting her faith into a complete stranger. If Audrey was going to be brave so was Katie. Katie inhaled slowly but almost coughed over her own breath when she heard Audrey speak. There was no way in hell she knew how to kill it. Her once brave strut was now a sad excuse for a walk. She was pretty sure they were screwed. Non the less Katie nodded to Audrey. She paused for a moment before continuing to walk into the dense fog. She turned around and set off at a quick jog back tot he car. She popped her head into the side window and looked over the inside of the car. After a quick scan of the car she picked up what appeared to be an umbrella. It had a metal handle which was good. It was better than nothing. Katie sighed softly before starting to walk into the fog. She turned to Audrey. "So you distract it and I will try to hit it over the head as many times as I can before it kills me. When I am dead take the umbrella and smash it over its head." Katie said with a small chuckle. She was being sarcastic but she was pretty sure she was going to die.
