[/size] Okay, This event thread is more secretive in nature and in how you are going to Rp. If you stalked the last event thread you may have noticed Fate played a rather large part driving the thread. Although this event may seem a little more scary when looking at it please RP how your character would act in the situation. This being said, to partake in this thread you MUST not have any other active threads past the time stamp, Your character CANNOT be any other event threads and also must be a civilian. There can only FOUR Civilians in this thread and ZERO Claimed/Awakened. SCENARIO [/size] DATE ○ Tuesday September Eleventh TIME ○ Around four o clock in the afternoon. WEATHER ○ The weather is rather normal for this time of year. It is rather uneventful as the sun beats down some of its last summer rays on New York. There is a slight breeze but nothing special. The streets of downtown are always busy, and today is no exception. Although there is a lot of hustle and bustle as rush hour is quickly approaching there is a feeling of something watching passing civilians. Nothing is really out of the ordinary but this feeling can't help but be growing and intensifying as time passes. Any passing stranger can confirm that there was something in the air. In a small shop in China Town there is a small little store that claims to read fortunes. The sign says it is open but the dark interior and the fact that no one appears to be in the store say otherwise. Within the disorganized store there seems to be just about anything you might find in any other fortune teller's shop. From tarot cards to crystal balls there seems to be just about anything and everything in the store. Although the cramped store may seem ordinary it hides a rather dark secret. Can they be found in the store? Maybe within the darkest corners in the room. What about the shady back room? TASK As I said earlier this event is a little more secretive and a little bit different than normal. The task is a bit different than normal because you don't really know what you are looking for. Again, you must pick a number from 1-4 in your posts. These numbers will determine lots of things for your characters as your tasks may be different based on you numbers. Just a general overview of what the task is for everybody. Find the secret within the store. Each of you knows a different piece of the puzzle but are not allowed to share with each other, even in character as you are unsure if you can trust anyone else. To solve the puzzle you require all the pieces of the puzzle but to what end will you try and get the information out of everyone else. Also something to note. Fate will be posting a lot if you trigger an event or notice something in particular! This is based on your actions! [/div] [/td][/tr][/table][/center]

It was unusual, to say the least. Four might have been a time that allowed the dark-haired aristocrat to fully awaken from his nocturnal habits, but it was curious that Christopher would grace China Town at all. You could call it Ochlophobia but it was more of a slight dislike than fear really. However, despite what we'd rather not do, we would still need to act accordingly to what was required of us... even if it was entirely illogical. I mean... just why kind of music scores could only be found in China Town? Once again, he wondered why the Professor had chosen him to run this errand rather than someone else. Unfortunately, Chris had a good idea why. There seemed to be this strange game that the faculty members play that usually revolved around trying to make Chris more social with the world in general.
It wasn't a good day to be out and about. That was the feeling Chris had gotten ever since he had stepped into China Town. There was something eerie about this place today and Chris didn't like it one bit. However, never one to procrastinate, Chris decided that he should hurriedly get this task over with and leave with all haste instead of leaving it for another day. Besides, he was already here and god knew that it was far too troublesome to travel from his residence all the way to downtown so he might as well. He hadn't much luck for the most part of the last hour. He could sympathize with his instructor, he supposed. If there was something you couldn't find elsewhere, China Town was a good bet. After the first hour, Chris was already sorely tempted to leave and go home to prepare an apology for said professor. But it was then when he passed by an unusual shop.
From the looks alone, one could conclude it was a fortune teller's shop. The sign said open but the windows were all dark and for a second, Chris couldn't help but have his curiosities perked. He shook his head. Should he really invest time in said curiosity? After all, walking into a dark shop with no signs of life was a recipe for bad things to happen. What was worse, the eerie feeling that he had been having since he arrived seemed to practically radiated from this spot. But for the last hour, Chris had looked into every shop other than this one for the item he was looking for. The chances were slim but not exactly non-existent, now were they? He was never a superstitious fellow so what was the prospects of bad luck to him?
Against all better judgement and instinct, Christopher walked into the shop, a tiny bell sounding his welcome. He shook his head again, attempting to shake off the eerie feeling. What could go wrong just by walking into a shop? His violet eyes graced the contents of the shop, attempting to adjust to the gloom. An interesting array of objects met his vision but none that showed hints of being alive.
"Hello?" he called out into the shop. "Is there... anyone here?" That was what the ebony-haired young woman was at this very moment as she sluggishly walked down the streets of China Town. Everywhere she walked was bustling with activity much to her chagrin; she didn’t take well to crowds that well and congested streets made her feel claustraphobic at times. Particularly when she was alone and in a place she wasn’t familiar with. And at any other point in time, she would just be internally panicking over the immense amount of people. But right now, she felt far more alert of everything around her than she usually was; her watchfulness was even surpassing her claustraphobic paranoia right now. And the funny thing about it was that she couldn’t remember why she was in China Town for.
Think, Nemi, think. What the hell was I coming here for again? she wondered to herself as she aimlessly roamed the streets, her light indigo eyes darting every which way. She was uneasy and the fact that she couldn’t peruse through her brain to find the very thing she was looking for was annoying her. Hell, it even made her twitch internally as she waited for the stoplight to change so she could walk across the street. When it finally did, Nemesis almost sprinted towards the other street until a sign caught her attention.
Turning her head towards the sign, she smiled a bit when she saw it was a music shop. Of course! Her co-worker Shane and her boss had sent her off to China Town to go looking for possibly new instruments for the shop. Chipper at the thought of shiny new instruments and ecstatic customers, she immediately walked right in and promptly made her way over to the instruments. It didn’t take more than ten minutes for Nemesis to walk right out of the music shop, stomping down the busy street having a bit of a fit. She had found a few ravishing stringed instruments that were collecting dust in the corner. When she went to talk to the owner of the store, he offered the instruments for an outrageous price. Granted that some of the instruments really she had in mind were expensive, some of them couldn’t be worth more than $500 at most. But $49,200 for five instruments?
How utterly ridiculous! she commented to herself as she kept wandering around China Town, allowing her some time to cool off before she went back to her work place to tell her boss of her findings. And thankfully, the walk really was working for her. But the paranoia and alertness she felt earlier returned soon after, making her fidget as she walked around for a bit longer as she felt it (somewhat) grow while she kept wandering. It was almost like something was missing, but she didn’t know what exactly it could be and it irritated her.
Letting out a frustrated sigh, Nemesis let her eyes wander along the shops as she passed them. However, only one of them made her do a double-take. A psychic shop? she questioned herself quietly in the recesses of her mind as her eyes ran over the front of the place. A person could clearly see the sign which apparently suggested that it was open, but the fact that the windows almost seemed tinted and obscured a person’s vision from looking into shop through the windows told her otherwise. A thought shot across her mind as she stood in front of the dingy shop with various people passing her by: What would it hurt to go inside and explore a little?
Her logical side quickly kicked in and screamed at her to get going, but she didn’t move an inch. She just stood there staring while she internally debated on entering or not. When the curious-side of the jet-maned girl became dominant over her rationality, she slowly walked up to the door and entered. However, the sudden paranoia she was feeling skyrocketed from the very first step she put inside the place. That didn’t hinder her from continuing on her curious journey inside the little shop. All she wanted to do was vanquish her curiousity. What was so wrong with that?[/style] |

font: 10px Arial; padding-right: 3px; text-align: justify; color: 444444]It was a little after four o’clock when Nate found himself wandering the streets of New York City with nothing in hand but his camera and an extra battery. It was his day off from work and classes were over for the day meaning that Nate had a great chance to take some pictures. Today he was traveling downtown into an area he did not know very well but was confident in his ability to find his way back to familiar surroundings. Even if he got himself lost he would just review the pictures on his camera and trace his way back. It was simple enough and he had done this many times before. To Nate this was an adventure. He reveled in being able to able to capture extraordinary images of everyday life just by being there at the right place and time.
Today’s outing had been fruitful with more than a thousand pictures now saved in his once empty memory card. Nate stopped at a corner and leaned against a building to prevent blocking the flow of people. He would rather not be disturbed while he glanced through the images displayed for review on his camera screen. The photographs featured everything from pigeons to the sidewalk to some trash dumped on the street. Nate decided that it was time that he returned to his humble abode. There he would filter through these images more carefully on his computer before choosing the ones that he would keep.
The device in his hand beeped a few times when he reached picture number 785. A red battery with a slash through the center appeared on the screen to indicate the lack of electricity now running through the device. He had gotten so caught up in today’s trip that he had forgotten to keep an eye on the battery. But no matter; the spare battery that he had brought with him was sure to… Wait. Nate searched his pocket again. Then he searched the other pocket. Now back to the original pocket. Where was his spare battery? Had he lost it in the middle of his reveling?
The palm of his hand found his forehead with an audible smack. He realized that not only had he lost a very expensive battery but that he could no longer rely on his usual way of getting home. There was only one way of this: he needed to ask for directions. Briefly, he looked at his surroundings. He was in Chinatown and surrounded by people. Nate was convinced that he would easily gather instructions and be back in his dorm in no time at all.
The first few people he approached ignored him completely. They most likely took one look at his camera and deemed him a tourist, undeserving of their attention. He then decided to try the street vendors. He had no luck there since most of them started jabbering in an Asian language and excitedly pointing at their wares the moment he approached. Nate was becoming frustrated. That was until he saw the fortune telling store. Something compelled Nate to approach it. At first he had thought that the store was closed.
Upon further inspection he noticed the sign that read open situated in the window. He was not going to get home anytime soon and the people on the streets were being rather unhelpful. He supposed that he could try the store. Without a second thought, Nate pushed the door open and entered the shop, hoping for at the very least someone who spoke English.

[style=font-size: 10px; font-family: Arial; color: #656565; padding: 10px; text-align: justify; border-right: 4px solid #dcdcdc; text-transform: none;]Willis walked with a stride that was somewhat more casual than his regular gait. Dressed in what the rest of his family would have considered a "hooligan's outfit", that is, a worn tee and a pair of torn jeans, perhaps he only things that suggested that this young man wasn't quite who he looked to be were the branded glasses and the pair of similarly prestigious Nike sneakers he wore. But then again, it wasn't as though those items would stand out too much in this part of the Big Apple. It was, after all, fairly common for the imitation goods to be found here in oh-so-colorful Chinatown.
As he walked, the teenager savoured the hustle and bustle that was happening on the streets, which he found strangely... refreshing. There was just something about the delightfully chaotic ambience that drew the boy's interest. He laughed inwardly. Manhattan was a busy place, but it was nothing like this. He continued to indulge himself in this new found interest, before catching himself promptly. Since when did he become this sentimental? Heh...
Then again, the very fact that he was here at all was uncharacteristic of him. Brought up within the crowd that surrounded his wealthy family, he was far more accustomed to the company of New York's elites. He resisted the urge to shudder at the thought of anyone he knew finding out he was here. Why else had he taken the trouble of changing into such an unsightly outfit?
No, no one would find him here; and even if they did, no one would recognize him. Thus, he was free to concentrate his attention to his one purpose of coming here in the first place: to scout the area. His team of free-runners were due to meet here at midnight in two days time. Willis found it helpful to have the opportunity to get to know the area before jumping headlong into the physically intensive and potentially life-threatening excursion.
His dark eyes scanned the area, taking note of the ledges, footholds and handholds that he would be able to make use of during the run.
Just then, something caught his attention, making him pause in mid-stride. It was a little shop, looking as dark and foreboding as it was interesting. Humph, came a disgruntled voice from the back of his mind. Apparently, it was naught but one of the fortune-telling shops he knew were common to the area. The young elite wasn't the superstitious type. But then, something about that shop seemed oddly inviting. Sighing despite of himself, he turned and made his way into the shop. Just this once, he would indulge in his curiosity.[/style][style=font-size: 10px; font-family: Arial; color: #656565; padding: 3px; text-align: right; border-right: 4px solid #dcdcdc; margin-bottom: 1px; text-transform: none; line-height: 10px;]TAGGED • here here here WORDS • 444 MUSIC • here NOTES • there was only one number left >.< coded by lovesolfege of ote![/style] |

Maybe no one was here after all? But then, who would leave their store unattended and unlocked? In China Town, no less. This wasn't exactly the most lawful and safe region of town. Chris tried hard not to notice the almost scary fact that this little deserted shop, of which was uninhabited before his arrival, had suddenly gotten popular two seconds later. However, no matter how much he wanted to pretend, there was no hiding the fact that his heart skipped a full two beats when the door suddenly slammed close after the fourth person entered. Looking over his shoulder, Chris blinked in surprise as he attempted to suppress the growing dread coming from his gut. Not saying anything at first, he walked purposely towards the door. Enclosing his hand around the knob, he attempted to open said door... and failed.
"Locked," he announced unceremoniously. They were locked in.
Okay. So panicking wasn't going to help. What they all needed to do now was to keep calm and find a way out. He turned back to the gathered, realizing that he actually knew one of them: Nemi. "I didn't realize you were into fortune telling, Nemi," he joked, lessening the tension slightly.
"I'll go see if there's a back door," Chris said, walking further into the shop. In the dim lighting, Christopher saw what seemed to be an entry towards a back room. Maybe that was their way out, he thought as he walked on. He had a sharp intake of breath as his mind registered what met his eyes: a body.
An old woman lay on the floor, her face ashen and her grey hair tied in a loose bun. Quite obviously, one didn't need a doctor to tell Christopher that said woman was no longer just 'sleeping'. God... Why was there a dead body here? Moreover... She looked... familiar. He had seen this woman before but where? He couldn't... couldn't quite place a name on her...
He turned back to tell the others.
But hold on. Wasn't this a little too much of a coincidence? Like he said, this shop was empty and people seemed keen on letting it be until Christopher came inside. Wasn't it too much of a coincidence that three people followed him inside and then suddenly, they were all locked in? Right after the fourth person? What if this was some sort of trap? The dead body on the floor didn't improve anything. After all, his family being pretty rich, he wouldn't be surprised if someone jumped out of the shadows and tossed a bag over his head. He was pretty sure Nemi came from an equally prestigious family.
He couldn't trust them yet. No, it was better to play this one closer to the chest. He could trust Nemi, right? After all, they knew each other for a significant amount of time already. But as things were, they were all here and someone had to know something.
Right now, Chris knew only one thing: he wanted to get out of this shop. Now.
His thoughts turned back to the old woman on the floor.
Correction.
Christopher wanted to get out of this shop... alive. Only seeing his back, she naturally turned her attention towards a small table with a group of crystal settled on top of it. Her hands were slightly shaky with nerves as she avoided the person, her eyes falling on two more people stepping into the shop one after the other. Her already edgy paranoia was getting the better of her which held true when the door slammed behind the last person. She nearly jumped out of her skin as she let out a small yelp, clamping her hands over her mouth as she proceeded to hyperventilate. Breathe, Arkwood, breathe! she commanded of herself, slowly relaxing as she watched one of the guys try to open the door. But it was no use.
"Locked," he announced, causing the black-maned girl to fidget as she glanced around the shop. How the hell did the door lock itself? Something wasn't right. Much to her surprise, she turned around to look at everyone and felt a pang of relief when she recognized one; it was her friend Chris. She couldn't help but give an uneasy smile at her friend's joke, deeming it an inappropriate time to mess around when they were locked inside and Nemesis was close to having a panic attack due to her paranoia.
As Chris went off to search for a form of exit, the lone femme stayed with the other two males fidgeting. Though she had a friend nearby, she didn't feel all that calm. If anything, it made her feel more alert of everything around her. It even made her far more aware that something wasn't right in this shop, but she still felt as if something was calling out to her. She didn't know what it was, but she knew it was somewhere in the shop; it was only a matter of finding what exactly it was.
Quietly at war with herself, she allowed herself to look over at the other two males before settling her gaze on her hands. It had been a few minutes already but her comrade had yet to return. She told herself to stay put and that Chris should be back soon enough, but her curiosity was gnawing at her yet again. That, and the fact that she felt uncomfortable with two strangers when she was already paranoid enough. And to add to that, the incessant need to find what she was looking for was maddening.
Letting out a sigh, she moved towards the back of the shop in search of her friend. "Chris?" she called out nervously. To her happiness, he was standing a bit away from her by a door of sorts. It looked like he was ready to walk back to the group. Letting a ghost of a smile wash over her face, she walked right over to him. "There you are. I was wondering where you we-"
Before she could even finish what she was saying, her eyes fell on something that horrified her. There was a woman on the floor, pale as a ghost and lifeless. Wide-eyed, she let out a gasp while she stood there shaking. What the hell was happening here? She honestly didn't know but she sure wanted to get the hell out of this place.
Just as she was about to walk away from the lifeless form, indigo hues settled on something around the woman's neck. It was a pendent of sorts, changing in hue as time passed. And although her logical side was telling her to get the hell away, she couldn't help but crouch down and stare at the pendent. It was disturbingly alluring, making Nemesis feel as if it was trying to reach out to her. Without so much as a second thought, she carefully pulled the pendent from around the woman's neck, staring at it in awe as Nemi held it in her hand.
There was something odd about the color-changing jewelry, but she couldn't place it. All she knew was that from the moment she laid her eyes on it, there was an immense sense of dread coursing through her very soul. But there was also something else: danger.[/style] |

The second thing that he noticed were the two people already within the displays of the fortune telling store. If he was lucky, one of these people would be able to point him in the direction of home as soon as possible. There was something about this store that just didn't sit right with him. As he made a move to approach the man closest to him, the jingle of bells signaled the arrival of another person. Nate turned in time to see the door slam shut behind the new patron and hear the what he hoped was not the click of the lock. His fears were confirmed when the the man, who was in the shop before him, walked over the door to try the doorknob.
The moment that he announced that the door was locked, Nate had a terrible sinking feeling in his stomach. Anybody would be displeased at the situation but Nate's gut was telling him that entering store this was a horrible idea and that any shop other than this one would have been a much, much safer choice. As he surveyed the people around him he surmised that there were two men other than him and a woman. The man who had tried the doorknob turned around and the photographer noticed what he guessed to be surprise form on the man's face. "I didn't realize that you were into fortune telling, Nemi," he said to the raven haired woman in an attempt to lessen the tension. The woman smiled nervously back at him. It did not take a genius to come to the conclusion that the two were acquainted with each other. But judging by their reactions they had not expected to meet each other here.
When the man walked into the back of the store to find a way out, he was left with the other two at the front of the locked room. The tension in the air was suffocating and the awkwardness of the entire situation made him desperate to find an escape as soon as possible. Several minutes would passed before the woman, 'Nemi' he remembered, suddenly walked toward the back room. Nate could hear her calling out "Chris" before the rest of her words were muffled by the distance and objects between them. Nate continued to wait but began to grow impatient. He turned toward the young man next to him wearing glasses.
"Maybe... they found a way out and have already left. I, I'm going to go check." Well that went smoothly. Why did he feel so nervous? It's not like there was anything to be afraid of. He reached the back of the store to see the two people who had left previously standing at an opening in a wall.
"Hey, um, did you find a..." Nate let his words trail as he gaped in horror at the sight before him. An old woman lay on the floor before him. The pastiness of her skin left no doubt that she was dead. Nate stared at the body and realized why he felt so nervous in the first place. There was something unnatural about this place and there was most likely something unnatural about this woman's death. The young photgrapher had never put too much faith in superstitions but he knew that whatever had killed this woman was not normal. It was definitely not something human. How he had come to this conclusion, even he did not know but he was sure that that was the only conclusion.
He was brought back to his senses when he realized that there were three other people still in the store with him. He considered telling them what he had realized but then it dawned on him. Would they believe him? What if they suddenly believed that he was the murderer covering up the crime? But he had entered after two of them. If he hadn't known what he knew, he should be suspecting them. And even if they didn't suspect him, who would believe something like that? He had no proof of the supernatural and he almost didn't believe himself. He would sound like a lunatic.
But now was not the time. The important thing was that he needed to leave this store. Whatever had killed this woman might still be here. And if that was the case they were all in danger. [/style] |

[style=font-size: 10px; font-family: Arial; color: #656565; padding: 10px; text-align: justify; border-right: 4px solid #dcdcdc; text-transform: none;]Willis' body stiffened and he could almost swear that his heart was in his throat when the door slammed behind him with a loud Bang~! The gust of wind that came with the closing of the sent shivers up his spine, adding to his spontaneous onset of panic. He took a few deep breaths, having just barely stopped himself from screaming out loud at the sudden noise. Shortly though, as his eyes adjusted to the dimness of the store's interior, he noticed the presence of three others, looking just as shocked as he was. The realization put him slightly more at ease. At least he wasn't alone. A closer study revealed them to be around his age, if not just a little older - They were either college or university students, he noted.
The situation only served to get worse when one of them, a dark-haired boy approached the door, and with a jiggle to the knob, declared them to be locked in. Sigh, the one time that he decided to pursue his curiosity... Waves of regret and anxiety replaced the initial panic as Willis pondered how on earth was he going to return to the school before his driver arrived. Shaking his head inwardly, he reasoned that he would be better served to focus on finding a way out. Fortunately, someone else had already volunteered to do just that. Heh, lucky him. The teenager hung back, thinking that with a little patience, the situation would soon right itself.
No such luck. Willis held back a pang of nausea when he too realized the presence of a fifth person in the shop; this one no longer alive. He stared at the woman, and then at each of his... companions, he supposed that's what he would term them as... for now. He continued to watch the scene unfold in silence, his eyes lined with fear and distrust as his mind attempted to understand the predicament he had gotten himself into. He cringed lightly when the girl removed the necklace from the old woman's neck. God, she touched a corpse!
But then, didn't this seem odd. Four young people walk into a seemingly deserted store and get locked in only to find a dead lady sprawled out on the floor. Well, it explained why the store was unlit. But judging by the smell that they didn't notice, the old lady couldn't have died too long ago. Meaning to say that the killer was either still in the store, or very close by. It didn't take a genius to figure out that something just wasn't right. Fear rose and anxiety deepened.
Just then, his keen eyes, honed from years worth of free-running excursions, caught sight of a small glint coming from beneath the old woman's furled fingers. Despite his earlier disgust, the boy did not hesitate in stepping forward and promptly prying the object out from her grip. Her skin was cold, clammy and lifeless; something that should have sent the young man reeling at the touch. But at that moment, he had felt drawn towards... no, compelled by the small object now loosely held in his upturned palm. A magnifying glass. Not something terribly unique, yet... an odd sort of power could be felt radiating from it. This is something important, he decided.
He thought hard while trying to calm himself down. If it were James, he wouldn't be panicked or cowering in fear. With that thought, he willed himself to settle. He let out a lengthy sigh. From his observations so far, he had gathered that all four of them had not expected to be locked inside the shop, and that none of them had expected to find a dead woman in said shop. Either that, or someone was very good at pretending. Also, two among their number knew each other; the dark-haired boy who had checked the door, and the lone female among them. Their names were Chris and Nemi respectively.
He held his trinket up and peered through it with one eye. As expected, the view through the glass distorted and enlarged. As he scanned the body, and then each of his 'companions' through the magnifying glass, he spoke up in a voice he hoped did not sound as quivery and choked as it had felt, "So, does anybody have any idea what happened here?"[/style][style=font-size: 10px; font-family: Arial; color: #656565; padding: 3px; text-align: right; border-right: 4px solid #dcdcdc; margin-bottom: 1px; text-transform: none; line-height: 10px;]TAGGED • Chris, Nemi, Nathan, Fate WORDS • MUSIC • here NOTES • I see dead people o_0 coded by lovesolfege of ote![/style] |

Chris said suddenly as he saw her reaching down towards the old woman. A necklace? Rather, it was a pendant. An involuntary shudder ran down his spine. This wasn't good. This whole scenario wasn't good. Setting aside the fact that there was a dead woman on the floor, Christopher knew something was amiss and guess what? He wasn't about to stay around to play Sherlock Holmes, getting himself killed in the process. At least, that was what he knew he should do. Experience told him that he should rein in his curiosity and just leave, to find a way out of this hell-hole and look for someone with higher authority like the police and leave the CSI stuff to the them. But how to put this... he knew this woman. He knew he did but he just couldn't seem to remember where he had seen her from.
Christopher shook his head. Whether it be finding out who this woman was and what relation she had to him or if it was finding a way out of the fortune teller's shop, he knew that he wouldn't solve those problems but hanging back here while doing nothing. He looked from face to face. It seemed that Nemi and the last male had found something on the woman. That left the youth with purple hair. He was silently noting the woman. Was it perhaps that he knew her too? Something was definitely on his mind and for a second, Chris was tempted to ask but suddenly, he thought better of it. He couldn't trust anyone (except Nemi). If it was information he wasn't going to disclose despite the prediciment they were in, to Chris, that made him even more suspicious.
Christopher sighed. He supposed that if he really needed to find out who the woman was, he should start with the obvious and work from there. He couldn't actually assume that she was the owner of the shop and that the shop would have some information on her but there was something else he could look for. However, the prospects of touching the woman wasn't all that good in his eyes at all. He squatted down beside the woman. "Maybe she has an identification card somewhere on her." He set to looking for pockets, his eyes occasionally glancing up and around the room to see if there was maybe a handbag or something that old ladies usually kept their personal information in. NOTES Curiosity killed the cat.
CREDITS template by jawn of AA, OTE, DMB and TC[/style][style=font: 11px Tahoma; text-align: justify;]Allure, peril, paranoia and tranquility. Those were the very four things that the light-eyed girl felt as she kept her eyes glued to the pendant in her hand. She really couldn’t keep her eyes off of it, making it her whole world at the very moment. She barely noticed the mauve-haired manwalk up to her and Chris, much less the man donning unflattered clothing. No, there was this magnetic pull that she felt towards this odd little trinket. If anything, she felt as if this thing was calling out to her, but that had to be crazy right?
Nemi’s fascination with the charm in her hand was abruptly interrupted when she caught sight of one of the males grasping something out of the cadaver’s hands. Her eyes settled on the younger guy who was staring at something in his hand, pondering what it was that he was looking at. Forgetting the pendant for the moment, she stood up from her crouching position next to the old woman’s corpse and stared at her current companions. One was obviously her friend Chris so she felt compelled to stay closer to him while in their... stay at this odd shop; hell, he was the only one she trusted at the moment. The other was a perse-haired man who seemed fixiated on the body she stood next to while the other male was staring at them all with what seemed like a magnifying glass.
What an odd bunch we are, she noted quietly to herself as she fidgeted with the pendant a bit. The dark-maned femme let her eyes fall upon the corpse as one of the unknown males spoke up. “So, does anybody have any idea what happened here?” Naturally, she stayed quiet while she shook her head. Honestly, she didn’t have a single clue as to why there was even a dead body in this place or why it happened to be the four of them that ended up in such a place. Unless someone or something wanted us here, the logical side of musician suggested as she watched her friend decidedly search for some form of identification for the dead elder. But somehow, she felt like finding out who the woman was wasn’t going to happen right away.
Letting out a breath she didn’t even realize she was detaining, she turned to move back towards the front of the shop. She could just feel her paranoia kicking up again and she really needed to calm down. Taking a few deep breaths as she stopped at the table she had been previously at, Nemesis began to study the pendant once again. It had been a shining ruby color when she had first laid eyes on it, but it had gone on to quickly change to sapphire to emerald to saffron and finally a deep amethyst. But now, it had gone back to its original color and she couldn’t stop staring at it. That’s when a far-fetched thought struck her: what if this little trinket had something to do with the dead old woman and the four of them being locked in this place?
As the very thought came to mind, her brain began cranking out more and more possibilities to the current situation. What if there wasn’t a way out and they were trapped there for an uncertain amount of time? What if whatever killed the old woman was actually one of them? Could she even trust Chris if that was so? Perhaps my paranoia is getting to me too easily here, she stated to herself as she held her gaze on the amulet. She could feel it calling to her again in an unsettling way, almost as if tempting her to put it on. But an inanimate object couldn’t speak to people, could it?
What’s the harm of putting on the pendant anyways? something questioned her internally while Nemesis bit her quivering lip as she tried deciding on what to do. Why couldn’t she just put it on? Nothing bad could possibly happen, right? But what if something does happen? she wonder in frustration, tightening her grip around the amulet as she reluctantly gave in. She collected her ebony locks, sweeping them over her shoulder and quickly placed the amulet around her neck.
Whatever happens happens, she told herself wearily, suddenly feeling a heavy presence looming over her. Perhaps putting on the amulet wasn’t such a great idea; especially if she was going to feel so strange.[/style] |

As the amulet lay rather beautifully off of Nemi's neck something rather odd happened. Not only could the pulsating of the amulet be felt by all four people but could be visibly seen. The colors of the amulet shifted quicker and more frantically, almost in a rhythmic beat matching the pulsating. The amulet lifted itself off her Nemi's chest so it hovered a couple inches away from her skin. The colour of the stone slowly starts to slow but a soft glow can be seen from the amulet, so light it can be a trick of the eyes. It takes a moment for the others to notice but the glow is getting stronger slowly and not because the amulet is glowing stronger.
Nemi's eyes start to flash between the five shades. A soft blue, an intense red followed by a calming purple quickly replaced by a strong green gaze, finally they turn a soft yellow. They flick in time with the amulet but Nemi notices that the dead women's eyes are also now open. They are quickly flashing through the five colors as well. The whole ordeal stops just as quickly as it started. The soft glows around the shop instantly stop, the pulsating stops making the amulet fall back on Nemi's skin with a soft thump. The silence seems rather strained but the only thing that remains are the changing of colors of Nemi's eyes. It is more subtle now, changing rather smoothly from colour to color but it can still be noticed. The amulet has stopped switching between colors as well as it now shows a black color. Even the women's eyes have come to a stop on a solid black.
In the magnifying glass even after the glowing has stopped the colors can still be seen flickering slightly. Almost as if it is showing the events of what just happened. Do with this information what you wish.
The three gentlemen may react how they wish but Nemi is currently confused and rather lost and incoherent. She has a splitting headache and is rather unaware of what just happened for the most part. Nemi's App has been updated as she has been Claimed as the Catalyst. Everyone gets one post continuing on in posting order before Fate will post again with another event that is to come, Nate, you may go first. |

The terrified photographer watched, paranoid, disgusted and confused as two of his fellow prisoners touched the body. When Nemi touched the old woman’s neck, Nate had thought that she was checking for any signs of a pulse. That assumption was quickly proven wrong when the woman walked back to the front of the store with a necklace in hand. The other person touching the body reached for her hand and was rewarded with a magnifying glass. Nate watched him look at his surroundings with the glass. He looks like he’s playing detective with that magnifying glass, Nate noted wryly.
Nate stayed silent and merely stared at the young man when he inquired about the situation, something he regretted a moment later. The question could have been an opportunity to share his newfound knowledge with the others. The question of how he would say something as monumental as this was still being sorted out. But at the very least he could have gotten the idea out there. Perhaps he should just blurt it out right now. Things couldn’t get any worse at the moment anyways.
But of course, Murphy’s Law just had to prove itself to be correct: things that can go wrong will go wrong. Before Nate had the chance to speak, he felt some sort of power pulsating through the air. Nate dashed to the front of the store where the source of the energy seemed to be coming from. At first he didn’t see anything except soft light that enveloped everything in the store. It was unclear to him where the ethereal glow was coming from. He could still feel the pulsating, but could not locate the source it. It wasn’t until later that he realized the power was emulating from the necklace the dark haired woman had picked up.
Nate watched in horror as the woman’s eyes changed color in time with the pendant. It was bizarre, it was abnormal, it was… inhuman. Was this woman not human as Nate had previously thought? And if so, did that mean that she could be the supernatural being that killed the old woman that they had discovered? Silently, Nate questioned whether or not that man, Chris, would know what she was.
The changing of the colors slowed, pulsating soon stopped, and the once floating pendant allowed gravity to bring it back to a resting position. Nemi’s eyes, however, did not stop changing colors. Her eyes transitioned through all the colors of the rainbow. Even the colors that humans were not supposed to have as eye colors, namely red and purple. At this moment Nate truly feared for his life. His human instincts were screaming at him to run from what he considered to be the supernatural. Human logic is currently failing at convincing him that none of this could possibly be real.
”Did you kill her?” The words were out of his mouth before he could stop them. The old woman,” he clarified. “Did you kill her? [/style] |

[style=font-size: 10px; font-family: Arial; color: #656565; padding: 10px; text-align: justify; border-right: 4px solid #dcdcdc; text-transform: none;]Willis' lips thinned in frustration when his question was ignored by all but the girl. But then, could he blame them? If the shock and surprise he had been observing from them were genuine and they had all showed up at the shop after the old woman had died, how could anyone present and alive know what had happened? He shook his head. He had been the last one to enter the shop before the door slammed shut. As such, he could not disregard the possibility (even if it was slight) that the killer was still in the store; that the killer could be one of them. As the way things were, Willis was still unable to make much out from the scenario that he had so carelessly stepped into. A need much more urgent than simple curiosity burned within him. He wanted needed answers.
The teen continued to scan the continued to scan the contents of the store with his magnifying glass. The old woman had been holding it during the time of her death. Of what significance was this magnifying glass to her? It was plain enough to Willis, that despite its appearance, this was no ordinary trinket. And why on earth had she been killed in the first place? If anything, the pendant that Nemi had plucked from the woman's neck showed that the killers were not after material possessions. As his mind mulled over the questions, he traced each line of the shelves and went over the various items displayed haphazardly throughout the store. Maybe, just maybe, if he looked hard enough, he would find something? It was the only clue he had, the only clue he could work with.
Just then, he noticed the pulsating colored light that seemed to grow stronger and stronger. His eyes shot towards the direction of the source.
Willis could only gape in mute horror, absently holding the magnifying glass up while he watched the amulet and then the girl's eyes glow and shift in color. This was... completely unnatural!
Out of instinct, he took several steps backwards. But although his arm had slacked, the frightened teen kept the glass trained on the girl. Seconds passed... and then, it ended. Albeit, Nemi's eyes continued to glow softly in shifting colors.
A strangled gasp escaped his lips as he tried to find his voice. He felt sick and numb. Just what the hell did he get himself into?! But before he was able to utter a single coherent word, the purple-haired male, who had remained silent until now, spoke up, asking if the girl had been the one who killed the woman. Despite being taken aback at the older male's abruptness, he noted that the man shared his suspicions that the killer was among them. But if Nemi was the killer, did that mean Chris was in on it too? But then again, Nemi's earlier reaction to the corpse suggested otherwise.
A new feeling of dread entered his mind as suddenly, it didn't feel so comforting to have company anymore. Still, with all that's happened, Willis was convinced that things would not bode well if he tried to solve this mystery on his own. With his their lives at stake, and a complete lack of solid evidence, he would have to give the others the benefit of the doubt. It was then that he noticed the image that was showing through the magnifying glass. He fumbled, gasping when he almost dropped the object.
Eyes still widened, he held it up and peered through it again to make sure that what he saw had not been a trick of the eye. There, in the lens, the pendant around Nemi's neck still glowed as brilliantly as it did just moments ago whereas without the glass, the same pendant now looked a dull black. So, he was right! Ignoring the purple-haired male's accusation, he exclaimed, "Guys, check this out! It's still glowing when you look through the magnifying glass!" It was certain that the glass somehow showed things that the naked eye could not see. But what did this mean? If he was going to figure this one out, he was going to need help from the others.[/style][style=font-size: 10px; font-family: Arial; color: #656565; padding: 3px; text-align: right; border-right: 4px solid #dcdcdc; margin-bottom: 1px; text-transform: none; line-height: 10px;]TAGGED • Chris, Nemi, Nathan, Fate WORDS • MUSIC • here NOTES • I see dead people o_0 coded by lovesolfege of ote![/style] |
