For a moment, Nate had half expected the thing to disintegrate like the chair. But, like everything else that has happened in the last hour or two, something completely unexpected happened. Nate watched the scene play out before him as if in slow motion.
The crystal ball smashed into the window and shattered into pieces. Nate reflexively held up his arms to cover his face from the crystal fragments. When the last of the crystal had fallen to the ground, was when he heard the cracking sound. Slowly, he looked up from his position and watched in awe as cracks appeared on the window. Were they finally going to be able to escape this place? Nate could not see well through the dark but he could hear the sound of the window fracturing. Nate took a step back so that once the window shattered, he would not be hurt by the flying glass.
It took a while, but the sound stopped indicating that the cracking had also stopped. Nate frowned, clearly dissapointed with the turn of events. The window had cracked but had not shattered like he had intended. All that was left was that stupid rune-
Wait a minute, what is that thing? Nate stared at the pulsating symbol that had appeared on the fractured store window. It glowed a soft white light that seemed to beckon to Nate. Nate approached the window carefully, making a point not to touch anything surrounding him. He waved a hand over the rune but could not feel any warmth like he did with the other objects in the store. Instead all he could feel from it was a soft pulsating power.
Nate reached a hand out to touch the rune. "What is this thing?" [/style] |

The rune brightened from Nate's touch, it didn't take long for Nate to notice the differences about to come. The white light slowly engulfed his figure, it coated him in a soft glow that left the rune and enveloped his body. The light slowly started to take on a somewhat yellow tint. The glow started to increase to the point where it was blinding, reflecting off of the amber lights that surrounded almost every object in the shop. The light rapidly faded leaving Nate standing alone in the front of the store once more.
NATE HAS BEEN CLAIMED/AWAKENED AS THE AIR GENERAL! NATE'S BIO HAS BEEN MODIFIED! The rune that was once on the window is now gone, it is instead now a totally different rune that lays on Nate's chest. It is currently emitting a soft yellow glow that almost hurts Nate. To top it all off there is now a soft breeze running through the store. Although it seems odd it is even more odd as it seems to be radiating off of Nate, somehow he is generating it. The rune at the back of the store still remains where it is but the shadow underneath the door is starting to pace back and forth. It is still unclear who or what lies beyond the door but it is clear they are getting nervous. The wind in the shop is getting a bit strong and every so often something clatters to the ground causing the floor to start to singe but not burn.
Posting order will start with Nate once more! Fate will hold off for a while but expect fate to be coming back with bad news, I suggest you figure out what your plan of action is as the shadow will only remain behind the door for so long, trigger the next event and you will be fine, you all have two posts before Fate posts again so try and figure out what to do. Listen to eachothers ideas, it will help. |

The light took on a yellowish tinge before becoming blindingly bright. And in an instant the light was gone as if it was never there. The rune on the window was also gone. Nate steadied himself and allowed his eyes to re-adjust once again to the lack of light in the store.
As his eyes adjusted Nate noticed that there was something still softly glowing below him. Nate looked down only to be surprised to find that it was his shirt that was glowing. Correction, his chest was glowing. My chest is glowing! Nate pulled the collar of his shirt away from him only to be blinded by a soft, yellow glow emanating from his chest. The light was almost painful to look at and was coming from a rune different than the one he had seen previously.
Nate returned his shirt back to its original position and looked about the store. There was something different about the atmosphere. It was... cooler. A slight breeze was blowing, ruffling his hair. Where did this breeze come from? Something in the back of his mind told him that it was emanating from him. No, that should not be possible humans cannot create wind. Unless you're no longer human, Nate rationalized. There was only one way to find out.
He concentrated on the wind. Slowly the glowing rune on his chest brightened and the wind began to get stronger. On the shelf next to Nate a vase fell onto the ground mere inches from his foot and began to singe. That was dangerous. And I am controlling the wind! But how?
Nate could also feel himself remembering something. Something insane about five kingdoms and magic that he was an important part of. To say that he was terrified at the moment was an understatement. He was this close to becoming hysterical. Deep breaths Nathaniel, deep breaths.
Perhaps it was time to regroup. If he was lucky the others would have found a way out by now. Nate walked back to the others slowly. Every so often another item would fall causing Nate to jump in surprise and fear. It felt like a lifetime before he reached the back of the store.
"Hey did you find a way-" Nate stopped talking abruptly the moment he spotted the rune. "There's another one? And how did we not notice that door before? Has anyone tried it yet?" Twenty questions was stopped when Nate noticed the shadow coming from behind the door. A chill ran down his spine as he realized that whatever had killed the woman was probably behind a slab of wood mere feet away from them.
"I see, never mind then. Um..." Not good, he was getting nervous again. We have to get out of here, please tell me that someone has some ideas. I have one but I don't think that it's very rational and will probably never work. Nate realized that his chest was still glowing decided that now was also a good time to explain what he did and the consequences of said actions. He left out the part about the kingdoms though. He didn't need them to think that he was more insane than he probably already was. [/style] |

[style=font-size: 10px; font-family: Arial; color: #656565; padding: 10px; text-align: justify; border-right: 4px solid #dcdcdc; text-transform: none;]Willis looked curiously at Nate. He seemed... different somehow. "No, Nate. We haven't tried it yet." A shiver ran down his spine. The last few minutes had seen novel happenings, which seemed to have triggered some sort of change in the older male. It wasn't all that surprising anymore, and so Willis didn't pay too much heed to it. The breeze that had spontaneously blown through the store had also lessened the tension in the atmosphere somewhat. At the very least, the temperature wasn't quite as hot anymore.
Now, all that was left was the shadow behind the door that seemed to magically appear behind them. Just then, a wild idea came to mind. "At this point," he began, "I highly doubt that it matters whether or not caution is held." He looked around. As it was, the items in the store were still emitting their deadly aura. Which meant that there wasn't anything they could use to aid them in this. Turning his attention back to his companions, his expression grew grim as he said, "We were going to check out the back room. I propose we try and confront the killer. The way things are going, it doesn't seem like we'll be surviving should we leave the situation as it is. But I for one, would like to at least know why I am killed and by whom."
He swallowed hard. "I'm going to charge at the door and do my best to distract the killer. Chris, if there is an exit, you, Nate and Nemi try and get yourselves out of this store as quickly as you can." Without waiting for a reply, the teen stood and steeled himself. It was weird. The thought of dying had never even crossed his mind until today's events. Willis had spent almost his entire life simply trying to win the affections of his father, even going as far as to isolate himself from others as well as sacrificing his leisure time just to improve himself for that purpose. Yet, in the face of death, it all seemed so... pointless. He found himself wondering whether his death would affect his family members at all.
He was the expandable sibling. The only imperfect child of the Haildens. He grinned wryly. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad to die here, especially if he could contribute to his companions' escape. It was funny. He didn't even feel scared anymore.
With that thought, Willis charged forward. Slamming himself against the wood, he turned the knob. Leaning into the wood, it gave way. "Have at me, you murderer!" He yelled at the figure whom he now stood before; the source of the mysterious shadow; and likely, the last face he would ever see.He couldn't give in yet, of course. He would have to hold him off long enough for the others to get through. To do that, he would have to focus everything he had on the fiend. Sinking lower, Willis tensed his muscles, ready to lunge or spring away at a moment's notice. Years of free-running experience were finally about to come in handy.[/style][style=font-size: 10px; font-family: Arial; color: #656565; padding: 3px; text-align: right; border-right: 4px solid #dcdcdc; margin-bottom: 1px; text-transform: none; line-height: 10px;]TAGGED • Chris, Nemi, Nathan, Fate WORDS • MUSIC • here NOTES • Phear meh~! coded by lovesolfege of ote![/style] |

He crashed through the door and ended up just looking at a small broom closet covered with dust. There is nothing really interesting in the closet but after an inspection under the magnifying glass something odd could be seen.
through the magnifying glass it could be seen what truly happened as it played the events that happened only moments ago. The shadow underneath the door quickly snaked it's way to a stack of books on a shelf. It didn't seem like a big deal but the shadow had snaked its' way out of view and in the safety behind the burning bookshelves. Apparently the shadow didn't have a figure and didn't get burned by the objects in the store.
Posting will resume with Chris. Again, everyone gets two posts except for nate and willis who only get one more. I shall give you another hint. big things happened when the crystal ball shattered, something else must break in order to drive events forward. Good luck and don't you love how obvious I am ^^

When the four of them had entered this shop, they had done nothing but doubt each other and guess what? They didn't get very far in anything. The only way out of this was to believe in the innocence of the four seemingly random choice of people and work together. Likely, that wasn't the most rational decision but in Christopher's humble opinion, it was far better than eating at each other and self destructing. Chris nodded to Willis' idea. After all, there was no other way out of the store so they might as well try or at least get killed trying. They were just about the engage in their plan when suddenly, a breeze picked up.
Of course Chris wasn't surprised. How could he? After all he had seen in the last half hour or so, nothing was going to surprise him anymore, not even random drafts in stagnant air fortune stores. Nathan came back and everyone could feel a slight difference in the fellow but right now, they had more pressing matters. A rune appeared on the door that Chris and Willis were planning to open and even better, a shadow could obviously be seen from underneath the crack. A sinking feeling of dread registered upon the realization that the murderer, the person thing that was behind this horror story, was standing... right... behind... that door.
Willis and Nate started a whole round of speculations and ideas for what to do. Chris, on the other hand, had been so fixated on the pacing movements of the shadow that he barely listened. In fact, the whole plan didn't even register in his mind until finally, Willis said that he was going to charge at the door to serve as their scapegoat distraction while Chris led the others to safety.
Hell if he was.
"Willis, wai--!"
But it was too late. The male had acted akin to any other reckless teen and moved before considering any other options (if they were any but let's just say that there was for argument's sake). Chris was two steps behind him when Willis started moving but he was on the fellow just as he burst through the door... into what seemed to be a boring and dusty broom closet. However, that wasn't all there was to it, now was it? It never was, especially not in this shop. The shadow disappeared. Worse, there was nobody behind the door. Just as the two fell into the broom closet, Chris somehow felt something fleet by him, as if snaking away from him just as he turned. However, instead of fear or anxiety, Christopher felt something totally different altogether: anger and frustration.
"Nemi!" he shouted, making sure that there was no chance for miscommunication. "Use the magnifying glass!"
There was no longer a need for discretion. The murderer knew that they were here and there was nothing that they could do to put them in a situation that was any more life endangering. NOTES Dear Lord... This is going to get messy.
CREDITS template by jawn of AA, OTE, DMB and TC[/style][style=font: 11px Tahoma; text-align: justify;]Upon retrieving the small glass trinket, the dark-haired girl gingerly observed it. So this little thing can record events, huh? she wondered to herself, staring at it with a blank expression. If such a thing was possibly, there had to be a way for it to replay such recorded event right? But the only thing was, how were they going to even do that anyways? They barely knew what was really going on in the shop, let alone how to make the blasted little magnifying glass to show them the scene in which revealed the old woman’s death. There had to be a key or something.
Nemesis hadn’t been paying attention at all while Chris and Willis came up with a plan for she was much too enchanted by the magnifying glass and its enigmatic power. However, she did notice a breeze pass through the entire shop, causing her to tear her focus away from the little glass bauble and place it on the newly returned Nathan. She could sense something amiss with him; but what, she had no idea. She just knew there was something too odd about him now as she observed him meticulously, turning her head away when she found nothing of interest. It was a wonder how she found anything odd anymore.
Sparing a glance towards Chris and Willis, she noticed a peculiar insignia on a door. A ghost of a smile tugged at her lips, glad at the thought that she hadn’t made up a door at the back of the shop out of desperation to get out. At least she still had some of her sanity. But what struck her most about the damned door was the rune on it. It seemed familiar to her, as if she had seen once a long time ago. It wasn’t modern, that was for sure. But then wh-
A sudden pain coursed through her head, causing her to cradle her head in her unoccupied hand. Damn it, not again, she growled internally, fed up with the enormous headache she was feeling. She had been fine a second ago; she had been numb then. But at the attempt of trying to recall where she had seen the foreign emblem, her insentience vanished and the pain returned. And really, she had a low tolerance for physical pain so it wasn’t at all surprising if she were to snap at anyone soon.
Letting out a low groan, the odd-eyed femme let go of her head and allowed the throbbing to continue. There wasn’t anything she could do about it, so she would just have to do her best to relax and focus on what was going on regardless of the pain she was feeling. She took a deep breath, willing herself to relax in order to ease some of the tension pounding at her skull. Once she was a bit more comfortable, she finally tuned back into her comrades’ conversations.
None of them had a plan from what she was noticing so she was left to ponder to herself. Taking a look at Chris, she found him to be fixated on the bottom of the door. Curious, she too stared at the bottom of the door and noticed an interesting shadow pacing to and fro behind the closed door. So there really was something there in the shop and it had been hiding at the back. Now the only thing to figure out was how to go about confronting whatever the owner of the shadow was. Not that Willis or Chris gave her much of a chance to think.
The two males just charged through the door, throwing all caution out of the front door and diving right into danger. Idiots! she exclaimed to herself, her eyes wide as she peered into the door. A… broom closet? Whatever killed the woman had been hiding in a broom closet? How dull, she commented quietly, staring at all of its contents. There was nothing really there save for the two boys, a few cleaning supplies and a couple of bookshelves that had an amber glow as rest of the objects in the store did. Where had the shadow gone?
“Nemi! Use the magnifying glass!”
Eh? Slightly bemused, she looked at her hand. Nemi had completely forgotten about the little glass in her hand until Chris had finally mentioned it. Quietly nodding, she lifted it up to her eyes as she stood at the entrance of the closet , taken aback by what she saw. There had been a shadow striding to and fro behind the door before the boys had crashed it open. And when they managed to burst into the room, the shadow made a quick getaway, making its refuge behind the shelves.
“It’s behind the bookshelves. It’s hiding right behind the bookshelves,” she stated calmly, looking straight at the shelves. Okay, so they knew where the thing was hiding for right now. But what were they going to do? The obviously couldn’t touch the shelves lest they burn themselves. And even if they did manage to catch the thing, it could slither into alternate forms and could slip right out of their grasps. Besides, what if it attacked them directly?
Steeling herself, she looked at all the males before exhaling. “We know where it’s hiding now… But I wouldn’t do anything rash right now. We can’t even reach it without burning ourselves and we obviously know it’s not human. It could probably kill us if we did anything senselessly.” She paused, placing her hand on her chin as she thought (painfully). They really couldn’t do anything to physically touch it, so they had to find some way to capture it by other means.
Nemesis turned her head, looking at Nate’s direction. She could feel a breeze emanating from him, making her think as she tried to come up with an idea. “I really don’t have an idea on how to do deal with this damned creature,” she started, her voice slightly strained as she tried to remain calm and focused instead of giving in to the pain. “But I have a feeling… that Nate over here would be able to deal with this shadow creature better than any of us can. That wind surrounding you, Nate, isn’t human-like by any means… So perhaps you are a key to this.”
When she had said it in her head, it sounded strange. But saying it out loud was even stranger. Not that she had much of a choice the more she thought about it. They longer that they stood there like sitting ducks, the more likely they would fall into more danger. And it was about time they find way to escape from the danger at hand.[/style] |

One was attempting to sacrifice his life so that the rest of them could survive. The other was trying to stop the former from foolishly risking his life. It seemed that there was no way from preventing the two from colliding into the door and so Nate braced himself for the inevitable release of the shadow lurking behind the slab of wood. So when the door was pushed open to reveal a small closet used for storing cleaning supplies, Nate couldn’t help but feel frustrated at the lack of progress they were making. There was a shadow under the door, which he was sure of. But now the entity was gone and they had no idea as to where it went nor were they any closer to finding an exit.
Nate was at a loss. What were they supposed to do now? Thankfully, the ever observant Chris came up with the idea of using the magnifying glass. Now they knew where the creature was hiding. But when did it escape the confines of the closet? How powerful was this thing exactly? And if worse comes to worse, were they supposed to fight it?
“I really don’t have any idea on how to deal with this damned creature,” Nemi said as if reading Nate’s mind. “But I have a feeling… that Nate over here would be able to deal with this shadow creature better than any of us can. That wind surrounding you, Nate isn’t human-like by any means… So perhaps you are the key to this.”
”Okay, now let’s just wait one moment. How in the world am I supposed to face this thing? I don’t even know what this thing is!? Let alone know how to fight it. Also this wind that keeps surrounding me is actually very difficult to control.” These were all excuses Nate knew. ”And… and I don’t know if I’d be able to do it,” Nate said in a small voice. That was the truth. He was terrified, and he knew that if something did happen he would be the first to flee. The guilt of leaving them would more than likely haunt him for the rest of his life and was a burden that he did not want to bear. If he survived, that is.
Actually, he said after a moment. I was wondering if we could perhaps try throwing the magnifying glass at the mirror. Just hear me out. The window is fractured and the magnifying glass is one of the only things that we could touch in the store. Maybe if we throw it at the window it would be enough to actually break the damned thing and we could all get out.
Nate smiled weakly. He sounded insane even to himself. But the crystal ball was small and still the window cracked. The magnifying glass was obviously magical and perhaps it would be strong enough to shatter the glass. It was worth a try, wasn’t it.
If it doesn’t work then I’ll fight. How about that? Deal?” [/style] |

[style=font-size: 10px; font-family: Arial; color: #656565; padding: 10px; text-align: justify; border-right: 4px solid #dcdcdc; text-transform: none;]The moment Willis had decided on his course of action, he had been prepared for the worse. What he hadn't expected, was to be tackled from behind. Crashing to the ground underneath Chris' weight, he let out a quiet "ughh". Momentarily dazed and breathless, he let himself flop to the ground. What just happened?
"Nemi, use the magnifying glass!" he heard the male on top of him yell. At the sound of Chis' voice, Willis' eyes shot open. Quickly propping himself up on his elbows, he scanned what the door had revealed.
Again, the teen's lips thinned in frustration. Nothing. Save for a dusty room filled with brooms, cleaning detergent and other household items. That was... somewhat anti-climatic, and Willis wondered whether or not he should feel relieved. Just like the items in the front of the store, the items in the closet were glowing but whatever it was hadn't chosen to attack him; and it didn't attack the others. Strange, honestly. Why was it running away? After all that it had done? Unless... the shadow wasn't the murderer.
A horrified Willis shot a glance at Chris, and back at the old woman. What the heck was going on here? All too easily, the theory about the mysterious murderer was overturned; which meant that they were very much back to square one. But two things were certain about this non-encounter. One, whatever caused the shadow seemed more fearful than hostile towards them; two, there was no exit at the back of the shop.
Having lost the reason that had brought about his uncharacteristic rashness, Willis made to get up. Rolling himself over, he said, "Chris, would you mind letting me up now." Pursuing an unseen entity through a mass of burn hazards was futile no matter which way one were to look at it. And although Willis had proven that he cared enough about the others to sacrifice himself for them, he wasn't about to throw his life away needlessly.
"Thanks," he muttered quietly when he had finally gotten back on his feet. Despite the situation that they were in, Chris' gesture had not been lost on the teen. In that moment, Chris had done something that he doubted any of his own kin would do for him. Still, rather than delve further into the act, there was the matter at hand that they had to attend to. "We should probably get back to the others."
Willis turned his attention to said others just in time to catch the end of their conversation. Fight? A deal? What on earth were those two on about anyway? He shook his head inwardly. Now that he himself had played his best card, there really wasn't anything more that he could say anyway. Whatever they chose to do was fine with him, and despite his line of action, he hoped that they wouldn't attempt anything too foolish.

A shadow without a body. Wasn't that the cherry on top of the sundae? Coming back form the broom closet to the back room of the shop, the blonde couldn't help but absently rub his left elbow. He had, unfortunately and ungracefully, decided to land on it when both of the semi aristocrats literally fell through the door. Well, on the bright side, at least it wasn't his dominant hand although he would be royally irritated should it affect his music when he got back... if he got back. Damn, this was the last time he was ever going to run odd jobs and errands for his professors. Ironically, he saw that that fact consented to both situations on whether or not he would ever step out of this shop alive. He shook his head clear. Wasn't he being awfully optimistic today?
Rejoining the others, Nemi said that the shadow was behind the bookcase but obviously, how were they supposed to attack a shadow with no physical composition? But then, the silver lining was that the shadow couldn't attack them either... right? The body of the old lady seemed to state otherwise. What proof did they have that the shadow was the murderer? Well... simply because it was there, it was supernatural and it was weird. That pretty much fit all the descriptions. Christopher looked to Nathan when Nemi speculated that he might be 'the key' to attacking this shadow thing. He noticed that there was something definitely different about Nathan but Chris had never been someone that indulged in probing into unshared information. And well, if Nathan said that he didn't know how to take on the shadow being, that was what Christopher was going to believe. If he didn't have any basis for faith based on past experiences and friendships, at least he could have faith that Nathan wanted out of this situation as much as the others and himself.
Then, Nathan came up with another plan. Or rather, it was the same plan, just refined a little and repeated. Christopher blinked. "You managed to crack the display window?" he thought aloud. It would seem logical, Chris supposed, seeing as the crystal ball was inflammable. Perhaps the idea of smashing the window to get out wasn't a bad idea. They just needed to pick the right item to throw. But... the magnifying glass?
The magnifying glass was effectively their eyes in the dark. Could they really afford to lose it? Was if it broke instead of the display window? Then they would be stuck here instead without a way out or a way to see what was going around them. It was a risk but was it one that they could afford to take?
However, did they have a better option? The slightest chance was better than no chance at all. They had scouted the whole of the shop right down to the dusty broom closet at the back of the shop. There was no way out other than the front door and perhaps if they could manage to break the window. Christopher nodded. "Okay," he said suddenly, hating himself for it. Did you know he wasn't much of a risk taker? Rather if he did, they were all calculated risks with a good chance of him coming out on top. This went against his very character. Understandable. After all, it was a move of desperation. However, Chris had also already come to understand that if he wanted to make any progress in getting out of this place, he needed to act... unlike himself.
Take a leap of faith.
He tried hard not to acknowledge the fact that the last time he heard that line in a movie, the character jumped off a building and committed suicide.
Yea... bad example.
"Nemi," Chris said, holding his hand out, "can I have that magnifying glass back? I think Nathan might be on to something. We're stuck in here regardless so we might as well try everything we've got." I don’t even know what this thing is!? Let alone know how to fight it. Also this wind that keeps surrounding me is actually very difficult to control. And… and I don’t know if I’d be able to do it.”
Really, Nate’s reaction to her crazy suggestion wasn’t at all surprising to her; but after what the four of them just went through, what could possibly surprise them anyways? Nevertheless, she understood him. He was afraid just as they all were, but doubting oneself at this critical moment wasn’t going to help any of them right now. Nemi would give him the benefit of the doubt however; he wouldn’t have to go through her crazy idea.
Letting out a sigh, a small pout made its way on her face as she fell into deep thought, pushing away all the pain she was feeling. There just has to be a way to get out of here. But… Her eyes stared straight at the mildly burnt cadaver, watching it in wonder. But that woman… What and who was she? She couldn’t possibly be human. Or at least fully human. So who are you? Absentmindedly, the black-haired female wrapped her unoccupied hand around the amulet hanging from her neck, clenching it while she thought. Though, Nate’s voice brought her back to reality.
“Actually, I was wondering if we could perhaps try throwing the magnifying glass at the window. Just hear me out. The window is fractured and the magnifying glass is one of the only things that we could touch in the store. Maybe if we throw it at the window it would be enough to actually break the damned thing and we could all get out. If it doesn’t work then I’ll fight. How about that? Deal?”
He couldn’t be serious, could he? He had actually managed to crack the window? Echoing her thoughts, Chris popped up asking the very same question she was thinking. And although she found it completely and totally bizarre that he had managed such a feat, she focused on his suggestion of using the magnifying glass to break through the window. Nemesis had to admit it was a pretty decent idea, but what if the window didn’t break and the magnifying glass did? And what if the shadow decided to screw everything up for them again?
Don’t jinx it, she mentally berated herself as she stared at the magnifying glass in her hand then looked to the cadaver. It was obvious that they needed a way out, but she knew it was necessary to figure out the importance of the dead women. She had a (weak) connection to the old woman due to the amulet, so she could at least figure out who the woman was before the four of them left the shop for good.
“Nemi.”
Instinctively, she turned her gaze to Chris, looking at him quizzically. He wanted the glass trinket to try it on the window in the front. It was really their only option of getting out; she knew that much for sure. There was no way out at the back of the store and the front door was still locked. Out the window they were going to go.
Taking a glance at the magnifying glass in her hand again, she slowly shook her head. “I’ll do it,” she declared solemnly. She was the oldest of the bunch from what she could tell. And she would blame herself if anything happened to the younger ones such as Chris; damn her motherly instincts. “I’ll try to break the window, but you three should stay with the body until I do so. I don’t know how to exactly put it… But we need her.” That being said, she let out a light sigh and made her way over the front of the store.
When she got to the front, her eyes fell on the large crack in the window. If she were to throw the magnifying glass at it hard enough, it was sure to break. Although she felt something a little odd about the window, she chose to ignore it as she stood right in front of it. Chris had thrown a chair at the window and yet it had disintegrated into ash. Nathan had thrown the crystal ball at the window and it cracked. Third time’s the charm, she commented quietly as she started humming an odd tune to herself, bracing herself for what was to come.
Taking a deep breath, Nemesis lifted her arm and threw the magnifying glass as hard as she possibly could. If a third time really did work, then they would be free. Here’s hoping…[/style] |

The magnifying glass spiraled towards the large front display window in a blur of speed as it left Nemi's hand. The loud smashing sound echoed throughout the shop as it hit the glass, but nothing really changed except for the fact that the magnifying glass was pushed up onto the front window by some unseen force. A couple moments passed before it fell to the ground with a small thump, quickly followed by the front window starting to darken as did the magnifying glass in perfect harmony.
Images started to flash on the smooth glassy surface of the front window, almost like a movie theatre. The images in the beginning were flashing by to quickly to truly focus in on but it was clear time was passing by rather quickly as it showed civilizations coming and going until it slowly started to slow down until it showed the front of the fortune tellers shop. The store door opened and on came the shadow, the start of everything going down hill for the women. The women was caught off guard by the shadow as it was already around her neck suffocating her before she had a chance to react. The colors of the amulet she wore could clearly be seen as it was frantically flashing, mirrored only by the women's eyes quickly changing between the five colors.
The light slowly faded from her eyes as she suffocated to death by the shadow. The shadow slowly snaked its hand towards the amulet but was interrupted by the door opening once more. The shadow recognized it was not safe as it quickly hid in the broom closet which became invisible to the human eye from some unseen spell. It tried to do what it could to try and finish the job it started but even it's spells couldn't destroy the body. The shadow tried to grab the window of opportunity as it pushed the body into the burning shelves to try and dispose of the body but was interrupted once again. Even the burning charm hadn't killed off the humans in the store.
The images on the front window slowly started to fade until the room was back to its normal self with the soft glow of the amber aura covering objects. The window finally returned to normal. After a couple brief moments the window shattered into a million pieces, showering anyone close enough to it to be covered in the small pieces of glass. Life continued to go on as normal outside of the shop, everyone didn't seem to notice the shattered glass window. The only thing that seemed to be noticeable was the small form of a shadow snaking out of the shop, clearly happy with its escape but unhappy with the turn of events.
Do with this what you will but Fate shall only post once it is clear you guys are done RPing. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask them but I can't guarantee all the answers. The magnifying glass is still unharmed and records everything the person witnesses or remembers. Using the object is up to you to figure out. Please note that the shadow did escape and you cannot catch it, posting order continues!

"I'll do it," she said. "I'll try to break the window, but you threeshould stay with the body until I do so. I don't know exactly how to put it... But we need her." She sighed and Nemi walked to the front of the store. Nate was a little apprehensive about letting Nemi be the one to break the glass. Should they really be letting a girl go alone? And more importantly, what if she fails?
But they had trusted him and were okay with his insane idea of throwing the magnifying glass. Nate wasn't sure whether to be relieved or worried. On one hand if throwing the magnifying glass worked then they would all be able to get out. On the other, there was the possibilty that the magnifying glass would break and he would have to fight the shadow still hiding a few feet away from them. The thought of having to fight another person was bad enough. The thought of having to fight some inhuman monster is even worse.
Nate stared at the remaining two men, unsure of what to say. There did not seem to be anything that they could possibly say at the moment anyways. Fidgeting slightly, Nate stared at the cadaver on the ground in front of them for a minute. "So..." he began absent-mindedly trying to ease the awkwardness. "Chris, you said that you somehow know this woman and Nemi says that we need her somehow. I wonder who this woman is and why she is so important."
Then the sound of glass shattering rang through the store causing Nate to to jump. She succeeded! Was the first thought that ran through Nate's mind. Were they free? Nate immediately forgot Nemi's order to stay with the body and practically ran to the fron of the store. He almost cried when he saw the sunlight streaming in through the broken window. It was getting late outside and it seemed that what went on within the shop went unnoticed by the passerbys. Nate did not care. The important thing was that he was free!
But wait. There was a dead body in the store. What if the body was found and police were called to the scene? What if they found his fingerprints and somehow tracked him down? He would be wanted for murder. Nate eased himself onto the ground to prevent himself from falling over. He needed to get home as soon as possible. But which way was home? That was the whole reason he came into this store. Nate nestled his face in his hands. Why did life have to be so complicated? [/style] |

[style=font-size: 10px; font-family: Arial; color: #656565; padding: 10px; text-align: justify; border-right: 4px solid #dcdcdc; text-transform: none;]Willis stood, moving towards Nemi just as she wound her arm for the toss. If they were going through with it, he wanted to see for himself what sort of disaster they would bring about this time. He felt responsible, in a way, as he had been the one who found the trinket in the first place. Regardless, if Nemi got into some sort of trouble after throwing the magnifying glass at the window, it would be the least that the free-runner could do to get her out of the immediate vicinity of the danger.
When glass contacted with glass, the teen braced himself for the worst. But what had happened instead exceeded all of his expectations. He simply gaped, thoroughly shocked at the images that played on the window. So, that's what happened. The shadow; a shadow without a source, had been the source of all their troubles after all. And then, with the shattering of glass, the display window gave way.
Rooted to his spot, the teen saw Nate arrive at the front of the store. For a while, he wondered why the older male hadn't made a break for freedom. But as Nate spoke, a realization dawned on him. Despite the seemingly calm passersby, someone would eventually notice the dead woman as well as the shop now in disarray. What were they going to tell the authorities? He had no illusions that the police would believe their tale, even if it were the truth. A brushing of something soft and plush against his leg roused the teen from his thoughts. Startled, the boy looked down, only to be met with the golden eyes of a small kitten. Apart from its presence here in the shop, there was nothing too peculiar about the animal... save that in this light, the kitten's coat seemed to take on a light shade of... pink?
Without thinking, Willis scooped the bundle of fur into his arms. He stared at the tiny bundle, carefully scanning it. Surprisingly, there was no resistance from the animal. There was not mistake. Its mostly white coat took on a curious shade of pink. Did the cat belong to the old woman? He wondered.
Willis shook his head. "First thing's first," he muttered. He worked his way to the front of the store. After a quick scan at the pile of fragmented glass, he found what he was looking for. Bending down, he picked up the magnifying glass with his free hand. Holding it to the sunlight, he confirmed that it was unharmed.
Satisfied, he pocketed his trinket and headed back to the group. "You know, nobody's going to believe what happened here," he said. A feeling of dread descended as he realized how late it was. He had to get back to the school, and fast! Looking at the slightly-burnt corpse though, it was plain that none of them could leave the situation as it was. Momentarily forgetting the kitten lying docilely in his arm, he continued, "not that I'm an expert, but unless we can come up with something, we might be looking at multiple felony charges... among them murder and vandalism." And even if they were to somehow elude those charges, how on earth was he going to explain all this to his family? One the other hand, if this didn't get their attention, then nothing would. Granted, he could live without this sort of attention.
He was probably the only one who wasn't supposed to be in Chinatown in the first place. This was likely something that could not be hidden from his father, but one thing was for sure though, the four of them were still in this together. "Oddly enough, the people outside don't seem to notice the mess. But I don't think it's right to leave the body behind. Maybe we should look around the store some more and see if we can figure out who she is and if she has relatives we can contact? It's possible they may know more about the things we've been experiencing." They knew what had killed the woman. Now that the killer had escaped, all that was left, was to find out who she was. Hopefully, that would give them an indication to how they could solve their current predicament. Whatever information they could garner would be helpful at this point. He felt in his gut that this may not be the last time he would be subjected to strange happenings.[/style][style=font-size: 10px; font-family: Arial; color: #656565; padding: 3px; text-align: right; border-right: 4px solid #dcdcdc; margin-bottom: 1px; text-transform: none; line-height: 10px;]TAGGED • Chris, Nemi, Nathan, Fate WORDS • MUSIC • here NOTES • Arthur the kitten is from the SA vending machine ^^ coded by lovesolfege of ote![/style] |

He supposed that half of his was still objecting to Nemi doing it. After all, there was no telling what would happen. Chris would never forgive himself should anything happen to the gentle music teacher. Then there was the other part of him that told the aristocrat that Nemi was probably thinking the same thing. He waited in anticipation for maybe an explosion or a scream to erupt from the front of the shop. Willis had gone out front so that left Chris with some piece of mind. It wasn't long (at least it did't feel like that to Christopher) that Nathan's voice drew him out of his thoughts, just barely. All of a sudden, just as the purple-haired youth finished his statement, the piercing sound of shattering glass ripped through the air and in that instant, relief consumed the pianist. They managed it. This horror story could hold them prisoner no more. Suddenly feeling as though his feet would not support his weight anymore, he sank to the ground.
Nathan had disappeared. Probably, he had gone out front the instant the glass display window shattered and who could blame him? In fact, even at this very second, Chris was perplexed why he didn't do the exact same thing. There was that part of him that wanted to fulfil the task that Nemi left him: to watch over the corpse, but he knew full well that wasn't the entire reason why he wasn't bursting with joy and leaping out the window towards freedom and perhaps a psychologist. In his semi-daze, he looked towards the old woman's dead body again. Her burn marks weren't so bad, meaning that her features were close to untouched. And yet, Christopher was still nowhere close to finding out just who she was and what she meant to him.
Christopher found the absence of fear confusing as well but he wasn't going to complain about it. Unfazed, he surveyed her features once more. "Who are you?" he muttered aloud. He shook his head, realizing the sudden increased urgency to locate said psychologist. Now he was speaking to corpses and if he didn't know better, he was expecting a reply. What? After all that happened in the last hour or so, there wasn't anything that could surprise the teen any more.
Even from the back of the shop, he could hear the conversation the others were having clearly. Subconsciously, he pulled out his cellphone. Amazing... why didn't he reach for this device earlier? Although, he had a sort of hunch that something would have tampered their attempt to call for outside help. Hm... why was he still here? Sitting on the floor alone next to a lifeless body? Posttraumatic stress disorder perhaps? "I could have somebody cover this up," he called out slightly louder to the front. "At least until we piece this all together." He stopped surfing through his contact list. "Or would you guys rather that we all forgot about this mayhem and go on living our lives?" He supposed, in other words, he was asking the others if they wanted to dabble into this situation any further. He couldn't help but remember that only idiots go looking for trouble but then... you know...
He wanted to know who this lady was.
