As usual, one felt like a sardine and you could hardly move without brushing shoulders with a stranger. A sly smile began to tug at the corners of Callum's lips at this thought; that's exactly why he was here.
It had worked countless times before. It starts off as an innocent bump. She stumbles. He apologizes and gives her a dazzling smile. She's frazzled. He smirks... the pattern ends with a dinner date. He always scored at least a dinner date. That's why he had to be out at exactly this time - people who were still out were either heading out for dinner or heading home to enjoy their meal. Either way it didn't really matter to Callum. It ended the same for him either way.
Like a male runway model, Callum shameless flicked back his thick, brown hair and began to leasurely stroll around the block, his bright eyes scanning the crowd for his victim next lucky lady.Maybe, if Callum was lucky, he would score a forgein actress or model. Break time. Joze honestly lived for them. Her job at the restaurant meant that she spent hours on her feet, carrying more than heavy plates of food and drinks. And remembering who had what, who wanted what, and deal with the noisy customers and their all around annoying banter. Thank goodness this was her last day of the week – any longer and she was sure she would faint right on her feet. Minutes ago, she had glanced at the clock. At six o’clock, it would be her 30 minute break, and she planned to be spending it around Time’s Square, a minute’s walk from the restaurant. She’d relax, enjoy herself, and then head back for another two and a half hours of work ahead of her. It was normal for her to do this, even though she should have been spending those 30 precious minutes catching up with some of the day’s homework, a night walk about the Square was just too good to pass up.
“Joze, it’s time for your break!” One of the waitresses called out. “Thanks, I’m only covering table four at the moment, and they’re just about ready to leave.” One of the only perks about being in a popular restaurant – it was that there was always an abundance of waitresses and waiters that could cover you in a pinch, providing you had a good relationship with them. And, well, although Joze didn’t talk much, she was generally well liked in the place. Although the older waitresses and waiters never fail to boss her around “Clear the table!” and “Cut those lemons”, she always managed to do that and all of the work she needed to do. To be frank, it was difficult, with the attitudes people carry in the restaurant. And the tipping, well, it was incredibly lame and so very small.
But she lived. And she was pulling in money. And she was glad that she even had a job. Albeit, a job that annoyed her, but a job, nonetheless. She was thankful for that, just as much. She untied her waist apron and hung it on the hook, and unbuttoned the all too stifling shirt she was wearing. She couldn’t dress out of it, as she only had about thirty minutes, but she didn’t want to be recognized as a waitress either. Her white shirt and black skirt was a pretty big giveaway, either way. Although she would be glad to be rid of the shirt, she made no attempt to. Only grabbed her jacket to put it on, hiding the white with the black fabric. There was nothing she could do about the skirt, though. Really, she should have just stuck to pants today, but seeing as it wasn’t that cold, and it was a Friday, well, it just didn’t seem necessary at the time.
Times Square was, as always, noisy and chaotic with life. Not that it was a necessarily a bad thing, if anything, Joze preferred it. It was just so… New York. The good thing was, her break was just about the time most people filed in the restaurant. It was stupid of the workplace, she knew, and all the others knew too. Now, if only she could get promoted to the become the Hostess… No, she’d have to make head server before that, and it didn’t look like she had much of a chance to do that, even if she had been with the restaurant for six months now. She looked around the crowd. Well, let her thirty minutes begin.
EDIT: Spike wanted me to add a time stamp. So... I am much too lazy to go into my admin account so I will just edit this post. One day before the event should do.
DATE ○ Friday, September 7th (day before the event) TIME ○ Around 6pm judging by the post. WEATHER ○ I guess it's a little warm out, the crowd is bustling with life and Times Square is as crowded as ever.

[atrb=cellSpacing,20,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 410px; background-image: url(http://i53.tinypic.com/2mgulnm.jpg), bTable][cs=2] | [style=border: 5px solid #f5e6e1; width: 310px; background: #f5e6e1; height: 300px; overflow: auto; font: 11px Tahoma; padding-right: 10px; text-align: justify; color: 393939] Needless to say, it was busy. The clock had struck six and Callum`s eyebrows furrowed toegther in frusteration. In the sea of people, no woman seemed appealing - they were too tall, too short, too old, too young, too fat, too skinny, to... you get the picture.
Grumbling angrily, Callum shook his head in frusteration; this hardly ever happened. Especially on the weekend. A long slur of curse words were about to come flying out of his thin lips when he spotted her. With bright blonde hair that shined like gold under the mix of sunlight and neon advertisements, a smile began to tug at the corners of his lips. Maybe he wasn't out of luck after all.
She stood about half a block away from him in front of a restaurant and from the looks of things, Callum thought her to be scanning the crowd.
Perfect Callum thought happily to himself as he rather agressively made his way through the crowd toward the pretty little blonde. He recieved quite a few angry and rude comments as he pushed past the throng of people, but the brunette honestly couldn't have cared less. He refused to let the petite young woman slip from his grasp.
Now just feel away, Callum slowed his pace slightly and composed himself, not wanting to completely give away his motives. With a straight face and slightly lowered head, he made his move. Coming up from behind, he brushed by her ever so gentely but with enough force to catch her attention. Once he had cleared her, he stopped abruptly.
Shotting his head up and with his sparkling blue eyes wide he gave her an apologetic look, "I'm so, so, so sorry!" He apologized profusely and ran a hand through his already messy head - the move worked almost every time.
Being sure to be descrete, Callum's eyes wandered over the girl's body. She looked about his age and was petite - standing a couple inches over five feet and reminded him of a delicate porcelin doll - fair, silky smooth skin, a slender build and large, beautiful blue eyes. Her short golden hair gave the otherwise angelic looking young woman and edge - so she had spirit. Callum fought to keep the smirk off his face. He could work with this. Now, she could just chill. One would think she would run out of things to do rather quickly, but it was just the opposite. You couldn’t get bored in Time Square. It was Time Square! She could just stand here forever, not moving, just looking at everyone and everything that associated with the place itself. Sure, she had lived in New York all her life and Time Square was always constant, but it didn’t disperse the magic of it. Many movies had taken place on the exactly area in which she was standing – or so the sets made it seem. It was a magical sort of place – busy with crowds and tourists of all kinds. Most of them seemed so interesting – though she for one had never talked to or gotten to know any of them, preferring to stay hidden and just amuse over them from a distance. There were just so many people, all different, yet so the same. There were people from other countries – other continents – from France, Italy, Spain, Russia, and China. And one couldn’t forget those Americans from the West Coast, or in the middle of the country. Then there were the locals, the ones that appreciated the beauty, or were just annoying by how many people were there. They shouldn’t be – this was supposed to be a popular tourist attraction. Besides, they should wait until New Year’s – it was absolutely crowded.
Perhaps that was why the restaurant was always so busy. It was right next to Time Square. And there were always a lot of customers. Customers that don’t tip well, she might add. But being spiteful would get her nowhere, and besides, they would never feel the bitterness that she kept to herself. Always serve with a smile! Or else tips don’t come rolling in. And there wouldn’t be a lot of money. Besides – what they didn’t know couldn’t hurt them. They had what they wanted, a good meal, and there was no reason why she should interfere with her pesky little thoughts. Being silent wasn’t much of a problem for her, though she knew that most customers would prefer a nice, bubbly personality. For some days, she was happy to oblige, chatting with the customers every so often if the restaurant wasn’t busy (which, in itself, was a rather rare sight). Others, when she was in a particularly bad mood, she just said the usual, pasted on a smile, took their orders, refilled their drinks, and got their check. She didn’t get the best tips, but some managed to find its way on her table and into her pocket.
Walking down the block, she passed a couple of stores before she stopped. Best not get too far from the restaurant, as she knew she might just get caught up in her thoughts and find herself twenty minutes away from the restaurant when her break had ended maybe five minutes later. Those events were always particularly fresh in her mind and she would take to relive when again, so she always didn’t wander far from the restaurant. Or at least for the past few days. She headed back to the general direction of the restaurant. Maybe she would find a nice bench to sit and just look at the different people that ventured to this area. Before long she was in front of her restaurant again, moving ever so slowly amongst the crowd. She didn’t want to draw attention to herself by just abruptly stopping, but neither did she want to stray far from the area.
Joze, Joze, Joze. What the heck is wrong with you today? Was it just her, or did she just seem more disoriented from the crowd then usual? No, it was probably just her and her mind, playing tricks on her from not paying attention. It hadn’t been long since she had left; she had plenty of time to just be. Or maybe not. Maybe she would just get annoyed at someone. And that was her choice of action when someone bumped into her. To be truthful, she couldn’t have held the annoyance back if she wanted to, and she looked at the perpetrator with venom in her eyes.
And the words she was going to stay stopped at her throat, for some reason. She tried to spit them out, but she couldn’t. And by the time she managed to usher the words onto her tongue, the young man already apologized. Joze couldn’t possibly say something bad now – not after he seemed so sincere about his apology. Not to mention his stunningly good looks. Was she possibly getting swayed by this man? No, she wasn’t going to let herself fall into this trap. “It’s alright, you didn’t mean it,” she managed to mumble, “Just be careful next time, okay?” She noticed how increasingly enamored she was to him. Joze! Snap out of it! He’s probably used to stuff like this happening…
And who wouldn’t be able to resist him? His brown hair was the epitome of messy. So perfectly messy, she couldn’t help but envy it. How many times had to tried to get her hair just perfectly tousled? It didn’t work very well with her now short hair, but before she had a great deal of trouble with it. And when she thought she finally had it perfectly messy (what a paradox that was!), she failed at it, again. For now, she just gave up completely with her hair, just let it fall into place in the morning, and run a brush through it now and then to avoid tangles. And shampoo and condition regularly. But his hair wasn’t the thing that she noticed – not the thing that really made her notice him. It was his eyes. His god damn eyes. They were blue – bright blue. And so very pretty. Sparkly. Well, he was the cliché sort of guy, the ones all the girls fawned over. Tall, check. Dark, check. Handsome, most definitely check. Maybe a few words exchanged between him wouldn’t be too bad for her. Wistful thinking, everyone. Okay, so Callum couldn't exactly blame her for being aggrivated. To be fair, people could be way too pushy, especially in Time Square. He completely empathized with her but couldn't help but feel relief wash through him as her gaze softened ever so slightly.
"I promise." Callum replied softly to the girl's mumbled request, meeting the girl's gaze. Womanizer or not, Callum had to admit that she really did have the most beautiful eyes. He began to move his lips, about to voice this thought to her, but quickly clamped it shut when she broke eye contact briefly.
By some miracle, Callum was able to maintain is composure as the delicate creature before him seemed to not-so-discretely let her gorgeous baby blues roam his body. Under almost any other circumstance, he would have smirked but fought to keep his lips from betraying him. She was indeed spirited and Callum had a hunch that she wouldn't appreciate him showing his satisfaction in being, well, checked-out. He really could do without being scolded at.
Almost a second later, once she had finished looking him up and down, her eyes seemed to once again settle on his own. This time, Callum let the smile play across his face, instantly lighting up his impecable features.
"I really am sorry." He apologized again, sensing that she was in some sort of a funk. Maybe she had a rough day at work or fought with her parents? Yes! - it had to be one of those. After all, who could still manage to look marginally grumpy after been apologized to by him "Let me make if up to you?" Callum purred, his voice smooth but unassuming. And truth be told, her really did want to make it up to her and cheer her up - it was too beautiful an evening to be spent grumping about. She had to admit it – Joze was most definitely completely taken by this man. First she had to conclude that something was most definitely wrong with her, she shouldn’t be completely drawn to someone like this. No, it wasn’t like her to be falling head over heels for someone she just met, just because he looked dashing. Because, that just had to be the reason, right? There was no way that it would be his personality – Joze had just met the guy and didn’t know his personality all, as it would be so illogical. So, she concluded that it was just his looks that she was drawn to and she should think nothing of it. No, it was just a little crush, and not because of anything but looks. What if he had an utterly horrible personality? What if he was really a bad, bad person? No, he didn’t seem to be uncivil. He actually seemed pretty polite.
She’ll admit it, she was dazzled. She only just had enough willpower to tear her eyes away. Despite the fact they were complete strangers, she was embarrassed. He promised. What sort of drama was this, were someone could just fall for strangers. This was reality, and with reality, came no miracles, no happy endings, no love at first sight, no charming men with perfect manners. That was all in fairy tales. And Joze would be stupid to believe in those fairy tales. Because they weren’t real, only stories told to little children to amuse them – and make them believe that dreams come true, that they would someday meet their handsome prince, that life was a wonderful thing, and that they would always be swept off their feet. Those definitely weren’t true, and Joze had been stupid to believe them before, and still believe in some of it. No one would sweep her off her feet. Knock the breath out of her. Although his man nearly did.
“I’m… um… My name is…” She found herself stumbling over the simplest words. Joze, get a hold of yourself! Easier said than done. Perhaps she should just take a couple of deep breaths, take a little time to collect her thoughts, and then turn her attention back to him. That would probably be the best course of action before she embarrassed herself again. A couple of deep breaths later, she felt a little calmer and the words finally came out. “My name is Joze. It’s nice to meet you.” Well, at least he knew her name, and they weren’t technically strangers anymore – or at least they won’t be if he revealed his name, which would only be fair since she revealed hers. Right?
His smile was really beautiful. It lit up his face handsomely, and Joze turned away again, blushing. Gosh, what was happening to her? Honestly, a person she just met had this effect on her. She was almost at a loss for words. When he apologized again – she was absolutely taken. Again. And when he wanted to make up for it – she wanted to pounce on the offer immediately. She kept her mouth shut, though. What was he thinking of doing to make it up to her, anyways? That was the big question. “It’s alright. I’m fine. It was just a little bump. Happens all the time in New York.” She made a little sigh, almost inaudible. “And what is it you are planning to do to ‘make it up to me’?” TAGGED • callum WORDS • didn't count MUSIC • panic! at the disco NOTES • your post was good, I couldn’t find any spelling errors, but then again, I’m unobservant. not my best post… coded by lovesolfege of ote! |

Which, in Callum's books, was a good thing. It would make his job even the slightest bit easier.
After a few deep breathes, she successfully introduced herself as Joze - a spunky name to match a spunky girl. Beaming down at her, he outstretched one of his large hands to return the introduction, "It's my pleasure to meet you, Joze. I'm Callum, Callum Pierce." He purred, still smiling his dazzling smile.
A heartbeat later, she spoke again and again insisted that their little bump earlier was fine. It may have been fine for Joze, but it was wonderful for Callum for he got to meet this fine creature. A small sigh then escaped her lips - at least that's what Callum thought he heard. The small was so quiet and faint that he was unsure if he had even heard anything at all. Shrugging it off, he listened with pleasure as she challenged him, asking exactly how he was going to make it up to her.
Several hardly PG-13 rated replies quickly came to the forefront of Callum's mind but he pushed those back as fast as they had appeared. No, Callum was not a pervert... Just a teenage boy. Despite been a 'player' or what have you, he did have standards and was a decent guy, so he decided to go with the truth.
"I was thinking we could start with dinner? It really is the least I could do." He offered sincerely. And he really did feel bad for putting her in such a foul mood moments ago. The scowl she had held on her face really did not suite her well and Callum felt guilty for being the one to put it there, for she had such a lovely face.

She fought the urge to giggle. Was she already developing a little schoolgirl crush with a charming man? No, she was smarter than this. She would not let these mixed feelings confuse her. She would not let them get the best of her. But Joze was curious. What in the world was this guy doing here, talking to her, anyways? The pink tint on her skin – she needed to get rid of it. But hard as she may try, they felt as though they were permanently attached to her skin – the burning feeling everlasting. She tried to contain the sound of her heart beating faster. But she couldn’t. And to think – this was all a crush and in a few days’ time it would be gone. And she would probably never see him again. The city of New York was big, and most people frequented Time Square even if they lived some time away. Besides – she had no idea if this person even inhibited New York. In fact, the only thing she knew as his name, Callum. Which weren’t exactly the best terms to fall into a crush. In fact, she could have sworn that this crush had developed before she knew his name. How had she gotten so dumb in such a short amount of time? She still had time – why not enjoy it a bit?
She had to remember that she still had work – and that she really shouldn’t waste time. And that she couldn’t get involved in any plans. After today, she had the weekend free – free for sleeping that was. It was always the same routine, over and over again. Joze should be doing what any normal sixteen year old should be doing – having fun, dating, breaking up, gossip. But in more ways than one, she actually enjoys how closed in her life is. She wouldn’t have to deal with the drama that always preceded teens. But that made her wonder – was it really all that bad? Experience the lifestyle of an average teen – it really did sound appealing to the sixteen year old. Have memories to older age. But then again, with those nice and pleasant things, there came the rather despairing ones, too laugh at and enjoy at an. But she best not think the worse – after all – what was the worst that could happen?
“Dinner…” She had work – what was she thinking? Would she blow work off for him? No, he was a complete stranger, and there was no way she could miss the potential tips that customers would give her, now that more would be piling in. As much as she would hate herself for it, she would have to say no. Besides – she wouldn’t be able to eat with him; she’d be too nervous and giddy and would probably choke on her food. Now that would be a sight to behold. “Sorry, but I’ll have to decline.” She offered a slight apologetic smile. Perhaps another time – or if he would be up to it, she’d probably be starving after work, even if it were a good three hours from now. He gave her credit, though. The mild stammering episode earlier aside, this ultamitely the greatest confirmation of one's attraction. Smirking inwardly, Callum was proud of himself - he had another beautiful girl in the palm of his hands. Though he did have to give Joze some credit. She held off a lot longer than most girls Callum wooed.
At this point, Callum thoroughly believed that he did not need luck. In the beginning, his best friends would always call out teasing words of encouragement, as if they would aid in the success of his bold and very straightforward endevours. But time had proven that indeed, Callum Pierce did not need luck when it came to the ladies. He was lucky.
Joze's light, melotic voice repeated part of his question - dinner. She was obviously mulling the situation over in her head, wondering how she had even been blessed with the opportunity to spend the evening with him. Her voice seemed distant, thoughtful and almost dreamy. Callum was sure he had this in the bag. But the first word that came out of her mouth completely took the young man by surprise.
'Sorry'. That was never a good start. And the next five words that followed it weren't exactly what Callum had been expecting, either... Declining his offer? No one, absolutely no one, regected Callum Pierce. It was unheard of.
Callum took a deep breath, his smile faultering slightly. He wasn't nessisarily offended, just taken by surprise. How could she resist him? Just mere seconds ago she was practically putty in his hands! He was certain he did not imagine the blush that flushed her cheeks or the way she looked so star-struck when they gazed into each others eyes.
Yes, she was indeed fiesty, but Callum wouldn't not give up so easily. He knew that the fiesty ones were worth it - the ones with spirit and could actually think for themselves. Joze would be worth it, Callum just felt it.
It was time to pull out the big guns.
"Really?" He pouted, sounded extremely disappointed (which he was), "But I owe you - I obviously upset you when I bumped into you.. I was actually kinda scared you were going to bite my head off. I really, really want to show you a good time and apologize for earlier, I should have been paying more attention. And pretty girl like you should go out on a Friday night. C'mon, have dinner with me. Please? I promise that you won't regret it."
Okay, so it sounded almost desperate, but Callum hoped it would work... It had to work. She was pretty, he was hot, it's a Friday night - what was there to say no to?

She felt really sorry for declining. She really did. And she was reconsidering it at this moment. But she couldn’t – work was just too important for her. She couldn’t – could she? No, what was she thinking? No second thoughts – she had already declined. It would look bad if she reconsidered, right? Or would he like that, since he did seem genuine in his request. But she had already made her decision. It was a done deal. But she really did want to make up her abrupt ‘no’ in some way. Maybe another day? Or if he really wanted to pursue dinner today then after work would be alright. But Joze was figuring out how to fit in ‘after work’ without mentioning that she ‘worked’. Why did it bother her that much to talk about work – after all, everyone worked these days. She wouldn’t be surprised if he worked. Maybe because she was embarrassed by her job – being a waitress isn’t exactly an ideal job for someone with such high ambitions. That was probably it, but there was something else – something she couldn’t quite place at the moment. And for that, Joze felt kind of stupid.
Wait – did she have that much of an effect on him? No, it couldn’t be that. But she could have sworn – his smile seemed to fade a little, although it’s brilliance still there. If she hadn’t noticed his smile, she probably wouldn’t have caught it at all. Although at a second glance it seemed to go back to the way it has been just a few moments before. No, it couldn’t be her. He must have been surprised, that’s all. Or maybe he was a little disappointed. Either way, she could not deny the fact that his mood changed, if only for a second. Or maybe his mood hadn’t changed and her eyes were deceiving her. That could be a possibility too. She definitely couldn’t rule it out.
The next few words made her blush – hard. Not that she could help it either, but it was like he was showering her with a rain of compliments. How could she say no? Well, she had to say no. Work was just too important. But… she would hate every minute of saying it, and she would make sure it would show. But she processed the words he said through her head again. She was pretty. He thought she was pretty. The thought itself was like gold – like treasure. But honestly, just because she was pretty… Did he even really get to know her? No… it was only for looks. “You’re silly; I wouldn’t bite your head off.” His face was too cute for that. “But, as much as I would like to take up your dinner request, I’m afraid I still can’t.” Please don’t hate me. Her family needed the extra money and she knew that they were too prideful to take a loan from one of their friends. And they were still in denial. But she also wanted to know if Callum would still pursue her after two repeated shot downs. She was really hoping he would, but she knew better than to just rely on hope. As Callum waited for what felt like an eternity, he felt his smugness and confidence slowly begin to dissolve the longer he was kept waiting. What exactly could she be thinking? Like in the Godfather movies, he had made her an offer that she couldn't refuse.
Thankfully, she eventually spoke and Callum could have sworn her voice to be unusually timid and slightly unsure. But that was probably just his imagination. She teased him in response to his comment, claiming that she wouldn't have bitten his head off. Callum let out a small chuckle. He found her statement rather amusing - surely if he had been someone else or less apologetic they would be having an entirely different conversation.
But Callum's laugh stopped abruptly when , Joze said but. But and sorry - two words that sent a red flag off inside the young man's head. His mouth clamped shut and his face fell. She sounded genuinely upset and claimed to want to take him up on his offer, but again, for a second time rejected him. Was she aware of what this was doing to him?
Callum sighed - part in anger, part in exasperation and part in defeat. This had never, ever happened before and the infamous womanizer was at a loss. Not even when he was in elementary school had a girl rejected him and this one had done in twice in a few minutes. With his pride wounded and eyes burning, he shook his head.
"I get it." He said softly.
Maybe she had a girlfriend? Impossible! - well, not her having a boyfriend, that is. Callum knew at least half a dozen of his friends that would stand in line to go on a date with her... but even the most 'lovestruck' of girlfriends hadn't been able to resist his charm. What was wrong with him? Maybe he was losing his touch.
"I'm sorry to bother you, Miss - " Callum began, starting to withdraw from the conversation when he realized that he only knew her first name. Apparently she didn't want him to add her on Facebook, either. Wonderful. But there was no way, no way that she was going to say anything about work. She had to make up an excuse. Any excuse. Something… anything. But she wanted that date. She decided… if he would only give her another chance. Explain that she had something planned, and wouldn’t be able to have dinner until late. If he was still up for it… then that would be great. But if he was discouraged… well she would be truly sorry. She’d really made a muck of things, but money seemed really important at the time, and well, she couldn’t deny that it still was pretty important to her. She wasn’t money crazed; she didn’t love it or anything. Joze just needed it. Her family needed it. No matter how apart her family seemed, they still needed to pay bills and provide for themselves. And her sister… oh how Joze wanted her to taste the food she was around every day when she was working. She had never had enough customers for her to pack little leftovers from the restaurant. Maybe it was because of her break. No, it was definitely because of her break. Her break was longer than most waitresses at the restaurant would care to take – and it was the maximum amount. Most of her fellow coworkers took ten minute breaks, just to get fresh air or take a smoke, or to relax themselves. Rarely did most of them take the thirty minutes they were allowed, unlike Joze herself.
Just as she was opening her mouth to say something – he sighed. Oh no… I’m too late! This could not end like this. She just met a charming, handsome stranger and she had messed things up! Oh, why did she need to be so horrible? This wasn’t good… his next words pretty much confirmed her suspicions. Please don’t be discouraged now… if you’re willing… All he had wanted to do was make up for the little bump. And she had been totally utterly taken by him ever since. She still was. But the only thing she knew was his name… that was it. His name. Callum Pierce. It even sounded cool! If he were one of her classmates, she would have found him untouchable – absolutely off limits. But she didn’t recognize him, but he seemed to be pretty fashionable. I get it. No, he didn’t. He didn’t get it at all.
“Atkins. My last name is Atkins.” It was information she would have otherwise kept to herself, but she felt like she owed him. “And no, you don’t get it. I mean, I would love to go to dinner with you, but I’m hardly free tonight. If you’re willing to wait a couple, it could be another story entirely…” TAGGED • callum WORDS • didn't count MUSIC • panic! at the disco NOTES • >.> ahhh I am so sorry! Well, she had rejected the poor bastard twice, indulging him and sharing her last name really was they very least the young woman could do. Joze. Joze Atkins. Now he had something to go on, least they meet again.
Despite suffering from a major ego deflate, Callum's signature smirk managed to make its way back onto his chiseled and angular face. Not only had she finally given him a name, but Joze seemed (at least) somewhat genuinely upset and regretting having to decline his invitation - twice! That's when he heard it, those few, small words which would turn Ms. Joze Atkins' world upside down.
I'd love to go to dinner with you...
Callum's attention wandered after he had heard that, ears barely registering the rest of the sentence. His ego about his quickly as he had been shut down as the light seemed to shine in his eyes again. In his head, Callum did a little happy dance. Okay, it was official. He was irresistible. So Joze had given him a bit of grief, so what? He was going to get his prize after all... and to think, he was about to turn on his heel and storm off in the midst of having a temper tantrum.
"Wonderful!" Callum chirped, his voice upbeat though still maintaining its suave charm, "What time should I come by and pick you up?"
He made sure to speak quickly but made sure not to cut her off. She had proven a stronger restraint then Callum was used to and didn't want to give the blonde a chance to escape or change her mind. Lord knows only how many times a poor guy could take a blow.

She was practically giddy with excitement. A date! A real date. For once, it wasn’t just her and her friends with a couple of friends to come along. It was an actual, real date. With another guy. But slowly, she could feel the excitement die down inside her. For her, this may be exciting, but for Callum, it might not be the case. He didn’t seem to be excited, although happy could be one word explaining him. He seemed at the least happy that they were to have dinner together. But the real problem was, how was she going to even get through dinner with him without making a complete fool out of herself? Honestly, this was going to be difficult, she just knew it. From excitement she turned worried. Then nervous. Almost a complete wreck. Hopefully he doesn’t notice… But it was just too late – and besides, she tried to fix her composure and that was more than obvious. Another blush slithered up to her cheeks, and already having trouble suppressing the one before, she was sure her cheeks were a deep crimson. Stop it, Joze! Confidence… remember. It’s only a pinkish tint… it has to be, right? She was seriously having doubts about this whole dinner, but there was no turning back now. Besides – she had already agreed, and it would be so rude – so, so rude to decline him yet again due to second thoughts.
So she managed a smile – which hopefully turned out to be at least half decent. How had this happened… again? Joze remembered being incredibly pissed, and then she was swept off her feet. Like her dream prince… Ironic. This was not happening so soon – it couldn’t be. Not with Callum, of course not. This was just a dinner. No feelings whatsoever. She absolutely refused to believe that. Maybe after getting to know each other she could pursue a relationship, but until then she had to keep with simply platonic feelings. Hopefully, she would keep to that. But before she decided that – she had already failed.
“Oh… yeah. How about I meet you there? Where are we going – anyways?” A sudden bout of fear seized the sixteen year old. Please not where I work… anywhere but there… But she was simply overreacting. What were the chances that he’d pick that exact restaurant? Out of the whole of Time Square, there were so many other restaurants that would be better suited for his purpose… right? [atrb=cellSpacing,20,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 410px; background-image: url(http://i53.tinypic.com/2mgulnm.jpg), bTable][cs=2] | [style=border: 5px solid #f5e6e1; width: 310px; background: #f5e6e1; height: 300px; overflow: auto; font: 11px Tahoma; padding-right: 10px; text-align: justify; color: 393939] Upon hearing Callum's words, giddiness and excitement light up in Joze's eyes, immediately brightening up her face. A smile began to play at the corners of her pink lips and her cheeks began flushing that adorable deep red colour. Callum couldn't help it, he smirked. Her excitement for their little date fueled his excitement and eagerness could now been seen reflected in his eyes.
Joze had been difficult to persuade - far more difficult then the rest - but this simply meant that possessed a treasure that no other young woman had shown to Callum: confidence. Sure, women would hold their head up high and walk the walk, but never before had Callum actually had to work for his date. A thought suddenly jumped to his mind: was the petite blonde playing him? Did she indeed know that Callum would practically beg at her feet?
Mulling this over in his mind, the possibility didn't exactly repulse Callum. Sure, he didn't quite peg Joze as that kind of girl - he could hardly imagine her being so manipulative - but that could also mean that there was another side of her hidden somewhere that was dying to get out. A more, daring side, shall we say. Regardless as to what would happen in the future, Callum was just thankful for actually being able to go out with her. And now that she was firmly in his grasp, the charming devil was determined to make Joze regret ever leaving him hanging.
With bright eyes twinkling, he gazed down at the pretty girl. Her cheeks still retained some of the pink colour but she seemed to compose herself. She seemed completely, well, calm as she asked where they were meeting and Callum only wished that he could have been able to read her mind. He would have loved to know what the precious creature before him was thinking.
Taking a moment to figure out the logistics of their date - he hadn't planned that far in advance - a tacky thought struck him. Hopefully, this would be able to break her...
"Meet me at Central Park next to Bethesda Fountain at nine-thirty?" He asked, still smirking at her. That would definitely give Callum enough time to run around and set up for their little picnic under the stars.
